Probe demanded for leakage of question papers of VI to X classes

City Schools have started half yearly examinations from 25th September. Due to the inefficiency of the officers, the question papers were leaked out. Collector of Hyderabad was informed accordingly. Mr. Amjadullah Khan Khalid, MBT Corporator of Azampura Municipal Division told that these question papers were sold out at the rate of Rs.100 and Rs.200 per paper. He also produced the copies the question paper. In a petition submitted to collector of Hyderabad, he pleaded for taking stern action against the officials responsible for the leakage of these papers.

Indian Mujahideen exploded the bomb in Dilsukhnagar- Asadullah Akhtar’s confession

Three members of Indian Mujahideen had experimentally exploded the bomb two days before Dilsukhnagar bomb blast. Asadullah Akhtar and two other members had implanted these bombs on the instructions from Riyaz Bhatkal who was in Pakistan at that time. This confession statement of Asadullah Akhtar has been filed by National Investigation Agency in Special Court. Asadullah Akhtar was given in the custody of NIA for 15 days on 19th September.

PM praises Obama for diplomatic initiatives on Syria, Iran

During their interaction in the White House here on Friday, U.S. President Barack Obama briefed Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on the situation in Syria and Iran.

President Obama further informed Dr. Singh about the steps taken by his administration to reach a consensus on the way forward in getting the Syrian Government to hand over its chemical weapons to the relevant UN bodies.

In his response, Dr. Singh congratulated president Obama on his initiative to give diplomacy yet another chance ion Syria and Iran.

Barack Obama condemns terror attacks in J&K

U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday condemned the terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, saying his heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives.

President Obama, who hosted Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at the White House here, said India continues to suffer from terror attacks.

“As recently as the last few days, India continues to suffer from terror attacks. Our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their lives,” he said.

President Obama said that he also discussed tensions in the sub-continent with Dr. Singh.

Terrorism from Pakistan in sharp focus at India-US summit

Meeting under the shadow of twin terror attacks in Kashmir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh put terrorism emanating from Pakistan in sharp focus at his third summit here Friday with US President Barack Obama.

Lowering expectations from his upcoming meeting Sunday with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in New York, Manmohan Singh told Obama of the difficulties India faced with its neighbour as terrorists “still remain focused in Pakistan”.

Rahul writes to PM, says he has highest respect for him

Hours after his strong public criticism of the controversial ordinance, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Friday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh saying he has the “highest respect” for him and hoped he would understand the strength of his “conviction” on the issue.

The letter is seen as a move to dispel the notion that his criticism was a public snub to the prime minister and a challenge to the collective decision of the cabinet and Congress core group.

India, US ask Pakistan to bring Mumbai perpetrators to justice

Affirming their deep concern over the continuing threat posed by terrorism, India and the US have called for Pakistan to work toward bringing the perpetrators of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks to justice.

Meeting here for their third summit Friday, President Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh “strongly condemned the September 26 terrorist attack in Samba in Jammu and Kashmir”, according to a joint statement issued after the summit.

Pakistan favours political solution of Syrian crisis

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who expressed Pakistan’s readiness Friday to “re-engage with India in a substantive and purposeful dialogue”, urged Syrian parties to take the negotiation route to solve their crisis.

He advised the Syrian parties that “more war will lead to more killings that need to be stopped”.

Addressing the UN general assembly, which entered its fourth day here Friday, Sharif said the Syrian parties should move to negotiation to put an early end to the crisis, which has reportedly killed 100,000 people since its outbreak in March 2011, Xinhua reported.

Iran expects deal with IAEA over nuke inspection

Iran Friday expressed its willingness to reach an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) over nuclear inspection.

The country reflectd its hope after first tentative but constructive talk between new Iranian negotiation team and the UN nuclear agency in Vienna, Xinhua reported.

Syria: UN probe’s second round to finish Monday

The visiting UN chemical weapons investigation team continued its probe mission in Syria Friday. It was set to complete the second round of investiagtion Monday, Xinhua reported.

“The United Nations mission investigating the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria on Friday continued working on a comprehensive report that is expected to be ready by late October,” an official statement said.

The UN investigation team returned to Syria Wednesday to complete their mission.

‘Martyred’ Lt. Col. Bikramjeet Singh cremated with full military honours at Panchkula

The last rites of Lt. Col. Bikramjeet Singh, who was martyred in the terror attack at Samba in Jammu yesterday, was conducted here today with full military honours.

Army Chief General Bikram Singh and other senior officers of the Western Army Command paid their last respects to the martyred soul.

The body of Lt Col Singh, Second-in-Command, 16 Light Cavalry, was brought back to Chandimandir, Western Command, last evening.

Lt Col Bikramjeet is survived by his wife Navneet Kaur, daughter Ramneet and aged parents Major Paramjit Singh and Luvpreet Kaur.

CPI, JD (U) hail Rahul Gandhi”s criticism of UPA Govt.’s ordinance on convicted lawmakers

Communist Party of India (CPI) leader D. Raja on Friday welcomed Rahul Gandhi’s rejection of the ordinance on convicted politicians, saying good sense had prevailed within the Congress Party, and added that it is time for the UPA Government to present a bill on the issue in Parliament.

“Finally, good sense has prevailed upon the Congress Party and the Congress Party has taken a U-turn and revised its decision. Now, the government has no other option, but to give up this ordinance and the government should go to the Parliament with the Bill,” he said.

BJP MP Navjot Sidhu to observe fast unto death today against Punjab Govt.

Taking on the SAD-BJP Government in Punjab, BJP MP and former cricketer Navjot Sidhu dramatically announced that he would start his fast unto death against the regime”s anti-development policies from Saturday.

Blaming the Badal Government for scuttling six of his pet development projects, Sidhu said he had no option but to sit on a fast unto death, as his voice was not being heard.

The announcement came following high drama. A media savvy Sidhu first invited media persons at his residence, kept them waiting and did not face them.

Sonia Gandhi talks to PM over Rahul Gandhi’s tainted lawmakers ordinance stand

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today spoke over telephone to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, hours after Rahul caused political tremors with his denunciation of the ordinance on lawmakers and sharp attack on the government on the issue.

There was no official word on what was discussed between the two but coming as it does after Rahul’s remarks it was likely they discussed the raging issue.

The Prime Minister is away in Washington for talks with President Barack Obama.

Miss Universe starts India tour

Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo Friday began her official tour of India. She is here on her maiden tour, and she will raise concern about the girl child.

Designer Sanjana Jon will accompany her for the tour.

“It is such an important social cause. We will be celebrating the girl child and are against violence against women. We needed someone like her who is so young and has the heart to associate herself with such a cause,” Jon told IANS.

Culpo, 21, will also be going to Mumbai, where superstar Salman Khan will be associating himself with the cause.

25-year-old woman abducted, raped in Gurgaon

A 25-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and gangraped by some unidentified men here, police said on Friday.

Police said the woman, with injuries on her body, a swollen lip and bruises on her face, claimed that she was abducted from upscale Sushant Lok area by some men when she was going home last night.

She said the accused took her in a car, raped her and then dumped her near a private hospital in Sector 51 here, police said.

They said they received a call at around 10 pm about the woman.

A rape case has been registered at Sushant Lok Police station.

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s PM nominee on Friday hailed the Supreme Court’s order that voters now have a right to reject all candidates contesting polls in a constituency by pressing a button for negative vote.

“I welcome SC’s decision on ‘Right to Reject’ – a great step making our democracy vibrant & participative,” the Gujarat chief minister wrote in his official twitter blog.

Mayawati asks PM to focus on terrorism during talks with Sharif

Condemning yesterday’s twin terror strikes in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Friday said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must clearly talk about terrorism with his Pakistan counterpart Nawaz Sharif on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York.

“I strongly condemn the twin attacks that took place in Jammu and Kashmir yesterday,” Mayawati told media outside the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.
