Ganesh Utsav samiti objects to get permission from police

According to the organizers of Ganesh Utsav Samiti it was decided earlier that police would grant permission for erecting Ganesh Pindals but now police is insisting to obtain prior permission. Police used to charge Rs. 100 for using microphone which has now been enhanced to Rs. 750. The members of the samiti demanded that electricity should be supplied free to Ganesh Pindals. Abid Rasool Khan recommends ex-gratia for Gas victims of Yakutpura

Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman, A.P. State Minorities Commission visited Arab galli of Yakutpura where 5 women died in LPG cylinder bursting accident. On receiving the intimation, Mr. Khan went to the area and elicited the details. He was informed that Gas supplier delivered leaking gas cylinder on 26th August. Fire broke out due to the leakage of gas and five women got injured and later on they died.

Mr. Abid Rasool Khan said that he would recommend the C.M. for releasing Rs. 2 lakh to the members of the deceased women and to allot a house.

Eight killed in China factory blaze

As many as eight people were killed while five left with injuries in a factory fire Friday in China’s Zhejiang province, authorities said.

The fire occurred early morning in a plastic factory in Dushan Township of Pinghu, a county-level city of Jiaxing City, reported Xinhua citing local authorities.

It took about two hours to douse the flames. Seven people were found dead on the spot while another died after receiving hospital treatment

The cause behind the fire was being ascertained.

National award-winning actor Ajay Devgn feels that our country is divided into the ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’ and the gap between the two is rising with each passing day.

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has condemned English players’ alleged urination on the Oval pitch in the Ashes triumph euphoria but does not feel that they should be punished for the act.

“No doubt, England were a better side than Australia but they crossed their limits while celebrating the Ashes triumph. I just read it in the papers, it was nothing but hilarious. China FM discusses Syria with France’s Fabius

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed the Syrian crisis with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius today and stressed the need to support UN inspectors investigating the alleged use of chemical weapons, state media reported.

Wang said it had yet to be established whether chemical weapons had been used and by whom, the official Xinhua news agency said.

The Chinese minister urged a cautious attitude on a major issue which concerns war and peace, it said.

Mother sentenced for pushing daughters into prostitution

A Women Court here today convicted a mother for pushing two of her daughters into prostitution and sentenced her to a total of 41 years on various charges, which she can serve concurrently for 10 years.

Additional Sessions Judge of Mahila Court Meena Sathish also convicted two persons, who have helped the mother in pushing her daughters into prostitution and other charges for 20 years, which they can serve concurrently for 10 years.

Two arrested in ATM robbery case

With the arrest of two men and recovery of Rs 11.38 lakh cash, Delhi police today claimed to have cracked the daylight ATM robbery case in Mansarovar Park on August 2.

M Azim (24) and M Nazim (23) were apprehended on August 28 after a tip off.

“Two more members of the gang, including kingpin Haroon Pasha along with Masroor are still at large in the case.

“The looted amount was distributed in five parts. Pasha had kept two parts as he was the mastermind of the loot,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East) Dheeraj Kumar.

Blasts in north Iraq town kill at least 13: officials

Two roadside bombs exploded on the edge of the north Iraq town of Tuz Khurmatu today, killing at least 13 people, most of them children, police and the town’s mayor said.

One bomb exploded on a road at the entrance to the town and the second was triggered as residents rushed to the scene, the sources said.

The blasts also wounded 18 people, including a baby, they added.

Tuz Khurmatu is a majority Kurdish town located in a disputed area of northern Iraq, where both the autonomous Kurdish province and the central government in Baghdad vie for power.

No final decision on Syria but “no boots on ground” : Obama

The United States is looking for a “limited narrow act” of military intervention in Syria that does not involve a “boots-on-the-ground approach”, but has not made a final decision yet, President Barack Obama said today.

“We’re not considering any open ended commitment. We’re not considering any boots on the ground approach,” Obama told reporters in a brief interaction with the leaders of three Baltic countries.

Obama emphasised that he has “not made any decisions” about what actions the US will take.

Congress says its track record in tackling terror good

With the arrest of Indian Mujahideen founder Yasin Bhatkal, Congress today claimed the party-led government’s “track record” in tackling terrorism is far better than that of any other government.

Opposition leader in Andhra Pradesh Council quits over Telangana

Telugu Desam Party politburo member and Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, today tendered resignation from his post, protesting against “the manner” in which Congress proposed to bifurcate the state.

Yanamala, who previously served as Speaker of AP Legislative Assembly, faxed his resignation as an MLC to Council Chairman A Chakrapani, party sources said.

“The incidents that are taking place in Andhra-Rayalaseema, from the time the Congress Central Working Committee took the decision to bifurcate the state, have deeply hurt me.”

I am not the custodian of files in coal ministry: PM Manmohan Singh

Amid attack over missing files pertaining to allocation of coal mines, a visibly upset Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said he was not the “custodian” of files of the Coal Ministry but made it clear that no guilty person would be protected by the government.

Responding to posers by BJP members over irregularities, including in coal block allocations, he said in the Rajya Sabha that “corruption is there, has been there”.

Asaram misses flight after his supporters clash with mediamen

Self-styled godman Asaram Bapu failed to catch a flight today for New Delhi, after he was prevented from entering the airport due to a clash between his enraged supporters who smashed TV cameras and other equipment carried by reporters waiting for him, sources said.

As news about the Gujarat High Court not entertaining his plea for an anticipatory bail spread, Asaram suddenly left his ashram for the airport, to catch his flight.
