Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister M.M. Pallam Raju and other Union Ministers from Andhra region have offered to quit in protest against the decision to form a separate Telangana state.

Pallam Raju told DD News in an exclusive interview that he along with other union ministers from Andhra region have offered to quit in protest against decision to form Telangana.

The HRD Minister, however, said the Congress Party has asked him to stay on.

Businessman, wife killed by armed assailants

A businessman and his wife were killed and their two sons injured today when they resisted a robbery attempt by a group of armed men at their residence in Bindki area of Fatehpur district, police said.

Around seven armed miscreants barged into the house of rice mill owner Ganga Prasad (80) in the wee hours this
morning and attacked him and his family members with knives and sticks, they said.

Police said that while Ganga Prasad died on the spot, his wife Somwati (75) succumbed to injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Ishrat case: Amin moves SC for quashing charges

Suspended Gujarat cadre IPS officer N K Amin, arrested in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case, today moved the Supreme Court for quashing of charges against him.

A bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam posted the matter for hearing on August 6 after Amin’s counsel Mahesh Jethmalani mentioned the petition for early hearing.

Lakhs offer Jumat-ul-Vida prayers in city

Over one lakh Muslims offered prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid on the occasion of Jumatul Vida, the last Friday of Holy month of Ramadan.

Prayers were held amidst heavy security arrangements made by the City Police. Over 10,000 policemen were deployed across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad to ensure peaceful conduct of Ramadan’s main event before the Eid. Emirates offers ‘Street View’ of A380 aircraft

Gulf carrier Emirates today said it has partnered with global search engine Google to launch the world’s first ‘Street View’ of the double decker A380, the world’s largest commercial jet aircraft.

‘Street View’ is a technology featured in Google apps and Google Earth that provides panoramic views from positions along many streets in the world.

“Users can explore online the Emirates A380’s luxurious first class private suites, expansive business class cabin,on-board lounges, shower spas, cockpit and more on ‘Street View’ now,” an Emirates press release said here.

Gynaecologist held in China for infant trafficking

A gynaecologist was detained in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province on suspicions of infant trafficking, local police said today.

The gynaecologist from Fuping County Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital surnamed Zhang, allegedly sold a newborn to a man and woman from neighbouring Shanxi Province for 21,600 yuan (USD 3,494) last month.

Police found that Zhang lied to the mother of the baby born on July 16 saying that her child had a congenital
infectious disease and disability.

One arrested for on charges of molestation

A first year student has been arrested for allegedly molesting a second year girl student of the same college, police said.

Abhirup Mukherjee, a first year student of a renowned college of South Kolkata was arrested last night for
allegedly molesting and passing lewd comments to a second year student of the same college, the police said.

Suspected gastroenteritis claims lives of two women

Suspected gastroenteritis today claimed the lives of two women near Lalgudi in this district,officials said.

Two women, who complained of diarrhoea were admitted to the local primary health centre and later shifted to the
Lalgudi government hospital.But they died, officials said.

One more woman had been affected due to diarrhoea at Athikudi near Lalgudi.

A team of doctors were taking steps to prevent the spread of the infection and also inspecting overhead tanks to
find if water contamination was responsible.

Andhra CM Kiran Reddy to meet non-Telangana MLAs on Saturday

: The Andhra Pradesh Congress leadership has convened a meeting of its legislators from Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra here tomorrow as they resigned in protest against the creation of a separate Telangana state.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief B. Satyanarayana would hold discussions with the Ministers, MLAs and MLCs from the two regions to address their concerns.

Satyanarayana said that there is need to observe restraint by all concerned to ensure an amicable solution.

A 20 minute brisk walk every day could help beat dementia, as it not only boosts memory but also improves the walker’s brain function, a new study has revealed.

Dr Laura Phipps, of Alzheimer’s Research UK said that while there is currently no way to prevent dementia, the best evidence shows that regular exercise, along with eating a healthy diet, not smoking and keeping the blood pressure and cholesterol in check can help lower the risk, the Daily Express reported.

The research by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor found that these shifts are often unrelated to biological or medical factors pertaining to childbirth.

Research on postpartum sexuality has typically focused on female reproductive biology in birth mothers- for example, how hormonal changes that accompany pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding affect sexual desire, or how birth-related interventions affect sexual activity.

Al-Qaeda threat forces US to close Middle East embassies on Sunday

The United States has announced temporarily closure of its embassies and consulates in Arab and Middle Eastern countries on Sunday citing security concerns.

CBS News reported that a Senate Bill was passed to take measures for beefing up security at U.S. embassies and create a training center for diplomatic security personnel.

The bill is in response to the September 2012 attack on the diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, where Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed.

Assange confident of winning Senate seat in upcoming Australian federal elections

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has said he is confident of winning a Senate seat at the coming election in Australia.

In a rare in-person interview with News Corp Australia, Assange said that he will win, despite living in exile on the other side of the world.

According to news.com.au, he said that pre-election polling indicated that he and his newly-formed party had strong chances of winning the election.

Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for more than a year after seeking asylum there to avoid extradition to Sweden.

The Yahoo board member and shareholder who pushed for appointing Marissa Mayer as the CEO reportedly clashed with her over the company’s strategy before stepping down from his post.

According to the New York Post, Dan Loeb stepped down from the company’s board after transferring the bulk of his shares and had disagreement over cost cutting as Mayer wanted only minor trims while Loeb wanted mass layoffs.

One source said that when Mayer was hired Loeb’s plan was to fire between 20 percent and 30 percent of the company’s roughly 12,000 workers which Mayer initially supported.

A former Ohio school bus driver, who had kidnapped three women and subjected them to years of sexual and physical harassment, has been sentenced to life in prison plus 1,000 years.

CBS News reports that one of the victims, Michelle Knight, who got released after a decade, hoped that he will face hell for eternity.

The convicted rapist, Ariel Castro explained in court that he is sick and addicted to porn.

According to the report, Castro had offered a ride to all three women. He later abducted them, chained them in his basement and sexually assaulted them for nearly over a decade.

Israel to introduce levitating ‘sky trains’ to ease traffic congestion, protect environment

Israel’s Tel Aviv city is set to welcome levitating ‘sky trains’ to tackle the problem of heavy traffic and environmental pollution.

According to the Fox News, the city would see Sky Tran’s futuristic transportation trains, a mass transit system of magnetically levitating pods which was co-developed by engineers from NASA”s Armes Research Center.

The report said that with SkyTran”s pods the city aims to have energy and environment-friendly alternatives to cars and buses.

A day after Samajwadi Party leader Narendra Bhati claimed that it was he who had got Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Durga Shakti Nagpal suspended, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) demanded the immediate revocation of the suspension order.
