Congress MP from Vijaywada, Mr. L.Rajagopal told that Hyderabad belongs to the people of all the three regions. Minorities Welfare Schemes implemented –Rehman Khan

Mr. K.Rahman Khan, Union Minister for Minorities Welfare sent a detailed report about the steps taken by Govt. of India for implementing welfare schemes for the benefit of Minorities. He indicated that the Dept. of Minorities Welfare was established in 2006. It is implementing 21 schemes. It caters to the needs of 5 Minority communities. He informed that planning commission has allocated Rs.17, 323 crore in 12th plan for minorities. The grant of Maualana Azad Education Foundation has also been increased.

Awareness program for unemployed youths in Falaknuma on Saturday

A.P. State Minorities Finance Corporation in collaboration with Hyderabad City Police is arranging an awareness program for the unemployed youths on Saturday at Falaknuma in Nabeel Function Hall. Officials from Minorities Corporation and Minorities Welfare Department will participate in it. This was told by Mr. Abid Rasool Khan, Chairman of Minorities Commission. The details about training programs for unemployed youths and bank loans would be provided in the meeting.

MDF meeting today to finalize Du-ba-Du program

A meeting of the members of Minorities Development Forum will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at Siasat office. Mr. Abid Siddiqui will preside over the meeting. Mr. M.A. Quadeer, Vice President and Mr. Khaja Moinuddin, General Secretary have requested the office bearers of MDF to attend the meeting. The Islamic Art and Calligraphy Exhibition organized by Siasat Urdu Daily at Salarjung Museum will continue till 1st September. It will be open for public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. including Fridays. Telangana NGO’s alleged promotions to Seema Andhra employees

Telangana NGO’s Union alleged that Govt. of A.P. has given promotions to Seema Andhra employees neglecting the claims of Telangana employees. Earlier, a request was made to P.K. Mohenty, Chief Secretary for keeping the issue of promotions in abeyance till the bifurcation of the State and it was also agreed upon. Despite this the promotions of Andhra employees are being given. Telangana leaders said that it amounts to injustice to the Telangana employees.

TDP MLA, Nageshwara Rao injured in firing

Senior TDP leader and former minister, Mr. T.Nageshwara Rao escaped when his car was shot at. It is reported that some miscreants targeted his car suddenly and opened fire near Outer Ring Road yesterday. It is said that the culprits were hiding behind a tree. Mr. Nageshwara Rao was coming to Hyderabad from his native village Komplalli. Mr. Nageshwara Rao received minor injuries but the wind screen of the car was smashed into pieces.

Alleged accused of Indian Mujahideen produced in court

Four suspects in twin bomb blasts of August 2007 were produced in the Nampally Criminal Court before II Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge. Police charge sheeted them. Maharashtra Police had brought Akbar Ismail Choudhary alias Sayeed, Mohammed Sadiq Asrar Ahmed Shaik, Aneeq Shafeeq Syed and Farooque Sharfuddin under tight security. The investigating agency framed charges. The judge permitted them to record their statements. Shafeeq Sayed told that in 2009 Octopus had shifted him to Hyderabad and during police custody they took out his photograph.

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor says she now appreciates journalists even more after playing one in her forthcoming film “Satyagraha”.

The 32-year-old actress plays a television reporter, who keeps a tab on the entire movement in Prakash Jha’s political thriller.

Actor Arjun Rampal, who is fit and fabulous at 40, feels that age is just a number.

“Age doesn’t mean anything. Its all in your head. Men get sexier with age. They also get wiser and get experienced. As long as you don’t go through mid-life crisis where you are 40 and want to play an 18-year-old character on screen, I think you are okay,” Arjun said.

NIA to hold video conference with US Justice Department

National Investigation Agency (NIA), probing the conspiracy angle in 26/11 Mumbai attacks, will be holding a video conferencing with the US’s Department of Justice for providing “limited access” to Lashker-e-Taiba terrorist David Headley and his accomplice Tahawwur Rana.

The video conference will come in the wake of reluctance on the part of FBI, which blew the lid off the conspiracy being hatched by Headley, American-Pakistani national, along with Rana, who is a Pakistani national settled in Canada, for any further interrogation of the duo by Indian investigators.

13 IAS officers transferred in AP

Andhra Pradesh government tonight transferred 13 IAS officers, including Collectors of three districts, and also gave posting to six officers of the 2011 batch who completed their basic training.

N Mukteswara Rao (1997) was posted as Endowments Commissioner in an existing vacancy while Sabyasachi Ghosh (1994) will take over as Industries Secretary (Mines).

Solomon Arokia Raj, an IAS officer of the 2000 batch, has been posted as Collector of Visakhapatnam. K Ramgopal of 1995 batch has been appointed Collector of Chittoor in Solomon’s place, official sources said here.

Woman delivers baby outside hospital ward

A 25-year-old woman was today forced to give birth to a baby outside a hospital ward here as she waited to be given a bed, leading to allegations of negligence against the staff at the facility.

The woman delivered the baby just outside the trauma centre of the Ambala City Civil Hospital with authorities there now having ordered a probe into the matter.

The woman’s mother, Sunita Devi, told reporters that she had brought her daughter to the trauma centre on a rickshaw after the latter complained of labour pains in the morning.

Myanmar troops attempt to raise fencing, India takes up issue

Myanmarese troops had made an attempt to raise a defence post and fencing close to the undemarcated boundary along Manipur prompting India to take up the issue and push for a joint border working group.

A senior Home Ministry official told PTI today in New Delhi that all activities had taken place inside Myanmar territory and there was no incursion into Indian land.

Construction materials were dumped for erection of fencing and the camp by Myanmar close to the border in Manipur’s Chandel district near Moreh town.

NYPD designates mosques as terrorism organisations

The New York Police Department has secretly labelled entire mosques as terrorism organisations.

The designation has allowed police to use informants to record sermons and spy on imams, often without specific evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

Since the 9/11 attacks, the NYPD has opened at least a dozen “terrorism enterprise investigations” into mosques. The TEI is a police tool intended to help investigate terrorist cells.

Girls arrived with MLA, others: Goa dance bar raid probe report

A day after Goa Police arrested six persons, including a Uttar Pradesh MLA, during a raid at a dance bar here, investigations have revealed that the accused brought the girls to the state on their trip and even stayed with them in a hotel.

“The girls had arrived along with legislator Mahendra Singh and others, who were arrested during the dance bar raid. They were staying with them in a starred hotel at Calangute,” DSP Mahesh Gaonkar said here today.

Don’t waste police force in ceremonial duties: Bombay HC

A division bench of Bombay High Court here has said that the police force should not be “wasted on futile ceremonial and protocol duties” in view of the rising crime and violence in the society.

The high court’s observations came following a criminal writ petition filed by one Sneha Mankar, who alleged delay in the investigation regarding kidnapping of her son last December.

Last week, the High Court had summoned Director General of Police Sanjeev Dayal and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Amitabh Rajan to explain the delay in the case.

UN powers start Syria resolution talks

Envoys from Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States started talks today on a British drafted UN Security Council resolution that could allow military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, diplomats said.

The envoys held talks behind closed doors at the UN Security Council offices to discuss the resolution after the suspected use of chemical weapons near Damascus last week in an attack which left hundreds dead.

Britain wants the resolution to allow “all necessary measures to protect civilians,” which could mean military action.

Abducted MP bizman rescued from Haryana; four held

A 45-year-old businessman, kidnapped from Indore on August 24, was today rescued from Faridabad in Haryana in an interstate operation which also led to the arrest of four of his abductors, police said.

Police teams from Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, along with Special Task Force (STF) personnel from Uttar Pradesh were involved in the operation to rescue Rajesh Jain, IG (Indore), Vipin Maheshwari, told reporters here.

An AK-47 rifle, six pistols, five hand-grenades and a large number of cartridges were eecovered from the four accused who have serious criminal records, Maheshwari added.

Asaram is real saint, is innocent: Pravin Togadia

VHP leader Pravin Togadia on Wednesday supported controversial self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, facing allegations of raping a minor girl, saying he was a genuine saint.

“Asaram Bapu is a real saint, he is innocent, but it has become a tradition in India to defame the religious leaders,” the VHP’s international general secretary said while flagging off a procession to mark Lord Krishna’s birthday here.

Jodhpur Police in Rajasthan is currently probing the allegations of sexual assault levelled by a 16-year-old girl against Asaram.

Wife, nephew arrested for plotting cloth merchant’s murder

A cloth merchant was found murdered at his residence in Modinagar area here, with police claiming to crack the case and saying that the plot to kill him was hatched by his wife and nephew.

30-year-old Tasleem, who owned a cloth shop in Muradnagar area, was found murdered at his house yesterday.

His wife Tavashum and Naushad were arrested today for hatching the conspiracy to kill Tasleem as he was against their illicit relationship, police said, claiming that both the accused have confessed to their involvement in crime.
