Leaders of Telangana NGO’s JAC’s met Mr. S.Jaipal Reddy Union Minister for Science and Technology at his residence in Hyderabad and represented for accelerating the process of bifurcation of State. Congress MP S.Srihari resign

Congress MP from Anakapalli sent his resignation to speaker of Lok Sabha through fax. He severely condemned the suggestion of Mr. Chiranjivee to accept the decision of CWC for the bifurcation of A.P. State. He advised him to limit himself to Ministry of Tourism. He warned him that his dictatorship will not work. He has to face the wrath of the people. He told that Mr. Chiranjivee misleading the people by taking the name of High Power Committee. He demanded the party leadership to withdraw the decision taken by CWC in favour of Telangana.

Bifurcation of the State based on Political motive- Yechuri

CPI (M) leader Mr. Sitaram Yechuri opposed the decision of bifurcation of Telangana State and said that the decision taken by UPA-II and CWC has given rise to agitation in Seema Andhra region. Congress party did not try to revoke the doubts of the people of Seema Andhra. It did not make any clear cut announcement for the development of all the three region and the protection of the interests of the people of three region.

Hajj Pilgrim orientation program at Masjid Qutub Shahi, Khartabad

UAE charity distributes 20 tonnes of dates in Jordan

The Al Maktoum Charity Authority from the UAE has distributed 20 tonnes of dates in Zarqa governorate in Jordan.

The philanthropic organisation distributed the dates through the Al Maktoum Centre and Mosque on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

Half of the amount was dispatched to the Zarqa Governorate Awqaf Directorate, where it was distributed to underprivileged families. The other 10 tonnes were distributed to a number of charitable societies.

Youth convicted for raping a minor, spared of jail term

A youth, convicted for raping a minor girl with whom he had eloped and later married, has been spared of the jail term by a Delhi court which said he has “realised his mistake” and sentencing him would “disrupt” his married life.

“The convict is sentenced to the period of imprisonment already gone,” Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhat said, while observing that the youth himself had come forward to plead guilty so he should be handed a lesser sentence instead of a minimum of seven years for the offence of rape.

SC to deliver verdict on Abu Salem plea tomorrow

The Supreme Court will tomorrow pronounce its verdict on gangster Abu Salem’s plea for quashing trials against him in various cases after Portugal’s apex court terminated his extradition to India for “violation” of deportation rules by authorities.

Kudankulam N-plant ‘perfectly safe’

Making a strong pitch for nuclear power, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government R Chidambaram on Saturday said all safety measures had been examined by the AERB committees at the Kundankulam nuclear power plant which is “perfectly safe”

“Not only Kudankulam..So many reactors are operating throughout the world.. All are safe,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a convocation at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here.

The first unit of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant attained criticality on July 3.

Terror threat at Benazir International Airport

A search operation was carried out at Pakistan’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport here early Saturday following security threats.

Contingents of the Rangers sealed all the roads leading to the airport and vacated the parking area. The officials also stopped passengers from going inside the airport, Geo News reported.

The airport authorities, though, termed the move as a routine search over the fear of terrorist attack.

The airport, the country’s third largest, was finally given a clearance by paramilitary soldiers around 6 a.m.

Maintaining public trust a priority, says Rouhani

President-elect of Iran Hassan Rouhani Saturday said that his mission would be to maintain the public love and trust in him, reported IRNA.

Addressing his endorsement ceremony, attended by Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, at a ceremony here, Rouhani said the June 14 presidential poll manifested the people’s trust in the Islamic establishment.

He said the election was not the result of a rift between people and the governing system.

20,000 Chinese language schools worldwide

Millions of Chinese living in different parts of the world are spreading their languages all around, according to a senior Chinese official, adding there are nearly 20,000 Chinese language schools across the world, educating millions of students.

Speaking at a ceremony held to welcome 4,000 young Chinese who were born overseas and visiting Beijing to get in touch with their roots, Qiu Yuanping, head of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council said there are over 100,000 teachers in these schools, the China Daily reported.

Telangana promise Congress’ gimmick: BJP

Describing the Congress led UPA’s endorsement of a separate Telangana as “political gimmick”, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Saturday said there was a “big gap” in the decision becoming a reality.

“It is a political gimmick. The Congress is saying the same things about creating Telangana which it had been saying few years back. Nothing is going to happen. We feel the decision has been made more in political interests,” BJP national spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said here.

Minor gang-raped, dumped at hospital

At least half a dozen men gang-raped a 14-year-old girl in Rajasthan and then dumped her at a hospital Saturday before disappearing, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred in Nagar area of Bharatpur district, some 200 km from Jaipur.

Circle officer Ashok Singhal said about six men – most of them belonging to the girl’s village – kidnapped the girl Friday night.

“The family members searched for the girl throughout the night. On Saturday morning, they were informed that she was admitted in a hospital in Nagar town,” said the officer.

Rajnath takes dig at PM over Sonia letter

BJP president Rajnath Singh Saturday took a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over Congress president Sonia Gandhi writing to him to ensure fair treatment to suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal, saying he should have acted on his own.

He demanded that suspension of the officer should be revoked.

Speaking to media on sidelines of a Teej function held at his residence here, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief said prime minister should have intervened on his own following suspension of the officer by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Sketches of suspects in Rs.39 lakh heist released

The sketches of the suspects involved in the Rs.39 lakh heist at an ATM here have been released, police said Saturday.

With the help of some witnesses and the victims, who were kept hostage at gun-point by robbers Friday, the sketches of the accused were made, police said.

“We have prepared the sketches of the accused and released. We hope the culprits will be in police net soon,” Additional Commissioner of Police V.V. Chaudhary told IANS.

“The activities of the criminals got recorded in the CCTV camera installed in the Union Bank ATM,” added the officer.

BJP asks Shatrughan Sinha to show restraint

BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha has been asked to show restraint while making comments in favour of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and those less than laudatory for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as these were harming the party’s interest, party sources said.

They said party president Rajnath Singh has asked Sinha not to praise Nitish Kumar or speak about Modi in a manner that raises eyebrows in the party.

Modi is the chief of campaign committee of Bharatiya Janata Party for the 2014 elections, while Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United has snapped its ties with the BJP.

AGP slams Assam government over violence

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Saturday accused the Assam’s ruling Congress party of failing to handle the violence over a demand for a separate state and sought Governor J.B. Patnaik’s intervention.

The AGP members marched to the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati shouting anti-government slogans and submitted a memorandum to the governor, referring to an alleged spike in crime in the state, including in Karbi Anglong district rocked by violence over demands for creation of a new state.

Karan Patel loses ‘Jhalak…’ dance battle

TV actor Karan Patel, who tried hard to master the twists and turns of dancing for “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6” week after week, was eliminated from the reality show Saturday night.

Karan, best remembered for his role in “Kasturi”, entered “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6” as a wildcard entry participant midway, along with other wild card entries Mukti Mohan, Sana Saeed and RJ Mantra.

While Sana has been going strong and dancing away to the judges’ and audiences’ heart, RJ Mantra was eliminated out of the show two weeks ago, and Mukti was in the bottom two along with Karan.

Afghanistan assures India of security for diplomatic staff

Afghanistan Saturday told India it will leave “no stone unturned” to ensure the safety of Indian diplomatic personnel in that country following a terror attack on the Indian consulate in Jalalabad that left nine Afghans dead.

This was conveyed by Afghanistan Foreign Minister Zalmay Rassoul to India’s External Affairs Minister Salman Khursheed when the latter called him up to thank him for the efforts of Afghan forces in ensuring the safety of the Consulate General of India in Jalalabad, said official sources.

29 dead in Pakistan torrential rains

Heavy downpours in different parts of Pakistan have caused 29 deaths, making Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to express concern over the loss of life and property. Twelve deaths were reported Saturday alone.

Sharif also directed all concerned departments to provide relief material to the affected people, Xinhua reported.

The worst-hit is the country’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where 13 people have died and 34 injured in separate rain-triggered accidents in the current spell of torrential rains.

West not serious about political solution to crisis: Syrian PM

Syrian Prime Minister Wael al- Halqi has blamed the western countries of not being serious enough about finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis, while reiterating his government’s commitment to such a solution to the 28-month conflict.

“The West and America and some Arab countries are not serious about finding a political solution in Syria, and they are still supporting the rebels with arms and ammunition,” reported Xinhua citing the Syrian prime minister during a TV interview.

Congress fields actress Ramya for Karnataka LS bypoll

Popular Kannada film actor Ramya Saturday filed nomination papers as the Congress candidate for the Aug 21 bypoll to Mandya Lok Sabha seat from Karnataka.

She is pitted against former legislator C. S. Puttaraju of Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), who filed his papers Friday. Mandya is about 80km from Bangalore.

For the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha seat, for which also bypoll is being held Aug 21, the Congress has fielded D. K. Suresh, brother of party legislator and former minister D. K. Shivakumar.

Texas state troopers caught on camera probing women’s genitals at traffic stops

Texas state troopers have been caught probing the private parts of women at different traffic stops.

Two videos surfaced in which two women, pulled over for allegedly speeding, were subjected to body cavity searches by a female officer summoned to the scene by a male trooper, the New York Daily News reported.

According to the horrified victims, in both invasive incidents, the female troopers don’t change gloves between probes.

Meanwhile, Texas officials said that the searches are unconstitutional, so do attorneys for the shaken women, who have filed federal lawsuits.
