How UK man starved self to cure diabetes in 11 days

A UK man has explained how by following a “starvation” diet he managed to cure his diabetes in just 11 days.

Richard Doughty, 59, said that he was shocked when a routine health check revealed he had Type 2 diabetes because he has always been a 10st 7lb healthy weight, 5ft 7in man, the Daily Express reported.

Doughty insisted that he had no family history of diabetes, always ate a healthy diet, never smoked and or even had a sweet tooth.

A new survey has found that a quarter of middle-aged men, who admitted to losing their focus while driving, blame good-looking women as being their major distraction.

A fifth of drivers affected said they had almost had an accident because of the distraction, the Daily Express reported.

Search engine giant Google’s operating system Android has not only pushed down Apple’s dominance in the tablet industry but has also topped the world’s smartphone market.

A new study by Strategy Analytics found that Google’s Android is responsible for 80 percent of handsets sold in the second quarter of 2013 accounting to 182.7 million handsets, Fox News reports.

The research firm said that it is a significant boost from the number of handsets sold in the same quarter last year and attributed the success to Android’s ability to target various price tiers.

A French nurse has placed an ad to rent out her breasts for gay couples who can’t breastfeed their own children.

According to a UK publication, the advertisement was posted on e-loue, a website offering goods and services for rent, by the 29-year-old nurse who called herself “cecilia232”, living in the Parisian suburb of Boulogne, the Washington Times reported.

The ad reads that she is a young mother in good health and a trained nurse aged 29, who wants to rent her breasts to suckle newborns.

An Indian ex-employee at software giant Microsoft’s corporate headquarters in Washington has been reportedly charged with raping a janitor at his office.

Vineet Kumar Srivastava, 36, a former programming manager at the company allegedly called the woman in his office, molested her, showed her pornographic images on his cellphone and then raped her, the New York Daily News reports.

Apple launches worldwide scheme to replace counterfeit chargers at $10 discount

Software and mobile manufacturer Apple has reportedly launched a worldwide programme to replace third-party and counterfeit USB charges following electrocution of a Chinese woman by a non-Apple charger.

Monty Panesar fined for urinating in public

Justice R A Mehta, whose appointment as Gujarat Lokayukta was opposed by Narendra Modi, today declined to assume office, saying the controversy has “denigrated” the office of the anti-corruption watchdog.

A retired Gujarat High Court judge, Mehta, blasted the Modi government for calling him “biased” and “anti-government” while opposing his appointment.

A Lokayukta unwanted by the government cannot get all the necessary and timely support from it, he said in a letter to Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal who had appointed him, triggering a standoff with the Modi government.
