Rapper DJ Khaled asked for Nicki Minaj’s hand in marriage with a half a million dollar ring in a video filmed by MTV News cameras on July 25.

In the clip, the US superstar can be seen talking to MTV when he suddenly pulls out a huge diamond ring and proposes to the singer, claiming that he loves her and wants her to be his, the Mirror reported.

Khaled asserted in the video that he would understand if Minaj needs time to think about the offer.

He continued saying he wanted to let her know how serious he is about marriage.

Counting on for second phase of Panchayat polls

The counting of votes is in progress for the second phase of Panchayat elections in Andhra Pradesh.

The polling for 6,971 Sarpanch posts was held on Saturday from 7 AM to 1 PM. Barring a few instances of violence, the polling was largely peaceful across the State. Reports of clashes between the workers of different political parties came in from West Godavari and Prakasam districts. However, elaborate security arrangements ensured peaceful polling in other districts.

Landmark Hindu temple in London celebrating Silver Jubilee

A Historic Hindu temple is celebrating its remarkable Silver Jubilee in Willesden, London, this week.

The shrine was the first of its kind to be built in Europe.

Devotees from all over the world, including Australia, India and America, have travelled to the UK to mark the 25th anniversary of the landmark Shree Swaminarayan Temple, the Daily Express reported.

The festivities included a street festival, which was attended by thousands, a live music concert and an opening ceremony choreographed by the youngsters of the temple.

SA ministers prepare for mass resignations

Felt insulted and ignored by the party High Command, the ministers from Rayalaseema and Andhra region are planning for mass resignation over the Telangana issue.

Talking to reporters here, Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao announced that at least 15 ministers would quit the State cabinet if the Centre decides to divide Andhra Pradesh. Although he did not specify when the resignations would be given, but gave a clear indications that it may happen early next week.

Black bear filmed strolling into a pub

An astonishing footage of a bear strolling through Lonigan’s Bar in Estes Park, Colorado has been caught on CCTV at a pub, as regular customers in a separate inn were unaware to its presence.

In the footage, the 6ft beast can be seen ambling around and sniffing tables and chairs in the empty room, the Mirror reported.

The animal slipped out of the pub, which is close to the Rocky Mountain National Park, after finding nothing of its use.

The first owners Dave and Debbie Callahan came to know about the 300lb black bear’s visit was when they saw the footage next morning. (ANI)

20 Goa students ill after eating mid-day meal

Twenty students of a secondary school in Goa were on Saturday admitted to a hospital when they started to vomit after eating the mid-day meal. The students said they saw a dead spider in the food, an official said.

The incident occurred in Kamleshwar School in Pernem, 25 km from here.

“The children are in hospital and their condition is stable,” the education department official said.

The incident comes less than two weeks after 23 school children in Bihar’s Saran district died after eating contaminated food.

Workers spend an hour per day on internet

Employees spend one hour every day surfing on the internet while at work, it has been revealed.

The study, conducted by Quidco, has found that workers waste an hour by shopping or looking for holidays at their desks, the Daily Star reported.

It was found that other distractions include emails, checking the weather forecast, reading news sites or updating Facebook.

Andy Oldham, Managing Director of the company, told the publication that with good internet access on mobile phones, surfing the internet is no longer reserved only for those who work in front of a computer. (ANI)

A quarter of brides are keen on keeping their maiden names in some form after their marriage, a new survey has revealed.

The poll was conducted by online wedding directory WeddingDays.co.uk on 200 brides-to-be, who were questioned about their attitudes on Big Day traditions like wearing white, taking their husband’s last name, and having their father give them away, the Huffington Post reported.

It was found that 9 percent of the brides admitted to wear a dress in a colour other than white.

Around 76 percent of respondents still want to be walked down the aisle by their father.

Father of 22 kids from 14 wives may get own reality TV show

A man from Nashville, State of Tennessee, may be heading for a starring role in a reality show.

Orlando Shaw- who has 22 children with 14 different mothers- hit the headlines last month after being sued for child support in Tennessee, the Huffington Post reported.

Nashville”s News Channel caught up with Shaw, who said he recently signed a production deal for a show based on his life.

The money he makes from the show could help pay child support.

Shaw told the publication that he has had a lot of people from Hollywood calling him. (ANI)

Mumbai Police arrest drunk man for molesting girl on moving train

Police in Mumbai arrested a drunk man on Saturday on charges of attempting to molest a girl on a moving train.

According to the police, the girl was travelling in a local train from Churchgate to Matunga at 5.30 a.m. today, when she was attacked by the accused.

A GRP official said the accused entered the ladies compartment of the train after noticing that there were no security personnel onboard.

Case lodged against six BJP leaders for ‘hate speech’

A case has been lodged against six BJP leaders for alleged “hate speech” during a party meeting in Chandaus area, police said here on Saturday.

A case has been lodged against senior BJP leader Satish Gautam, district president of the BJP Yuva Morcha Yatin Dixit and four others for delivering a hate speech during a party meeting there yesterday, they said.

Gautam had addressed a party worker convention at Chandaus town last evening, in which he allegedly used “offensive” and “derogatory” remarks against a particular community.

Protests in Seemandhra against statehood to Telangana

Opposing Andhra Pradesh’s division, which looks imminent, protestors Saturday took to streets in Rayalaseema and Andhra regions of the state.

Students and activists of various political and non-political groups took out rallies, formed human chains and observed shutdown in some parts of Seemandhra, as the two regions are generally referred to.

Educational institutions remained closed in several towns on a call given by Samaikhya Andhra or United Andhra students’ Joint Action Committee.

According to BBC, investigating magistrates have decided he should be tried in connection with an alleged prostitution ring at a hotel in Lille, with the case being the last of the sex-related allegations faced by Strauss-Kahn.

UP Public Service Commission withdraws new reservation policy, quashes PCS exam 2011 result

: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has withdrawn its controversial reservation policy for civil services examinations and also quashed the result of the Combined Provincial Civil Service, PCS examinations held in 2011, which was based on it.

A public notice was issued by the commission to this effect.

The commission said that fresh amended result will be prepared on the basis of old norms for reservation and will be declared very soon.

Hate speech case: Delhi court issues non-bailable warrant against Raj Thackeray

A Delhi court has issued non-bailable warrants against Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and the party”s spokesperson Shirish Parkar on a complaint about their alleged hate speeches against the people of Bihar.

The court also rejected their plea for exemption from personal appearance in the case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Devendra Kumar Sharma issued the arrest warrant against Thackeray and Parkar for August 24.

Seemandhra leaders urge PM not to divide Andhra Pradesh

Congress party leaders from Rayalaseema and Andhra regions Saturday called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, appealing him not to divide Andhra Pradesh.

Alarmed over indications that the Congress core group at its meeting Friday in principle decided to carve out separate Telangana state, a delegation of leaders met the prime minister, urging him to keep the state united.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday claimed that a conspiracy was being hatched to dismiss her government which was performing well.

Woman molested on Mumbai train; accused arrested

A 23-year-old woman was attacked in the ladies compartment of a local train on Saturday morning by a man who tried to strangulate her when she resisted a rape attempt.
The 28-year-old man was arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) on charges of molesting and attempting to murder the woman after she cried out for help when the train stopped at a station.

According to GRP, the victim had boarded the train at 5.41 this morning from Mumbai Central station and was headed towards Dadar for work. The victim was in the second class ladies compartment.

US tells Russia Snowden would not be executed or tortured if extradited home

The United States Attorney General has told Russia that NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden will not be executed or tortured if he is extradited home from Russia, even as the former US spy agency contractor faces charges of illegally disclosing government secrets.

According to The Independent, US Attorney General Eric Holder wrote in a letter that although Snowden had filed papers seeking temporary asylum in Russia based on the grounds that if he were to return to the United States, he would be tortured and face death penalty, these claims were entirely without merit.

Body of missing minor girl found in well

Body of a missing 10-year-old girl, allegedly raped, was found in a well here, police said today.

The incident came to light yesterday when some children playing near the well spotted the body in the well and informed the locals.

The girl, a resident of Shastri Nagar, went missing on Thursday night when she had gone to attend a birthday party at her relative’s home nearby. She did not return till late night and her parents thought that she might have stayed at the relative’s place, police said.

Yesterday, her body was found in the well, the police said.

Molester of woman in running train held

The man, who allegedly molested a woman in an empty ladies compartment in a Howrah-bound train forcing her to jump outside, was arrested from neighbouring Hooghly district.

Superintendent of Railway Police, Howrah, Milan Kanti Das said Debshankar Shaw, father of six daughters, was arrested last night from Makhla locality of Uttarpara.

He was charged with molestation and snatching.

A 25-year-old woman had jumped off from the Howrah-New Delhi Janata Express near Belur station in the district to save her honour from the molester and got injured on Sunday evening.
