CNG filling station employee assaulted

An employee of a CNG filling station here was assaulted by some men when he tried to intervene in a brawl that broke out between the motorists who had come to buy gas, police said.

The incident took place in Dasna area last night, and the injured manager Bobinder was admitted to a nearby hospital.

An FIR has been lodged against unknown persons in this connection, police said.

Gangrape: video clip to show that two accused were not in bus

A minor, who was made a witness by the accused to prove their innocence in December 16 gangrape case, today produced before a court here a video clipping which showed that two of the four youths facing trial were present at the music function on the incident night.

A 15-year-old boy, appearing in defence of Vinay Sharma, showed a video recording to Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna pointing out that Vinay and co-accused Pawan Gupta was present in the music function in south Delhi at the time of the incident.

Three arrested for forcing teenage girl into flesh trade

Three persons, including two women, were today arrested here for allegedly forcing a teenage girl hailing from Uttar Pradesh into prostitution.

The 16-year-old, who hails from Varanasi, had come alone to Jaipur for treatment a couple of weeks back, said SHO Prashant Kaushik.

During her stay in the city, she befriended with a woman named Doli and started putting up at her house, he said.

Telangana issue: Congress leaders from Andhra to stand by Centre’s decision

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Saturday said the UPA Government is keen on farmers’ welfare and has come up with various pro – farmer steps.

Chidambaram, who inaugurated a branch of the Oriental Bank of Commerce at Milaganur near Sivagnaga in Tamil Nadu, said hiking the support price for various crops like paddy and cotton and offering low-interest loans are among the steps taken to help the farmers.

The Finance Minister said the procurement price for paddy which was 650 per quintal has been more than doubled to 1,350.

Kejriwal launches Aam Aadmi Party in Karnataka, says ‘neither Rahul nor Modi fit for PM’s post’

‘Dawood may figure in spot fixing charge sheet’

Fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim and 29 others may be named in a charge-sheet that investigators plan to file next week in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing case, a Delhi Police source said Saturday.

“Over 30 people may be named, including Dawood Ibrahim. It would be filed next week,” said a source close to investigators.

Three IPL players – S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan – along with 11 bookies, were arrested from Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi during the IPL-6 in May. Another 15 people were arrested later.

BSF trooper injured in Pakistani firing in Kathua

A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was injured Saturday evening when Pakistan troopers violated the ceasefire on the international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district in Jammu region.

Police sources told IANS that Pakistan troops resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions in Hiranagar sector of the international border in Kathua district of Jammu region Saturday evening.

123 killed by Syrian rebels: Official agency

At least 123 people were killed by Syrian armed rebels in Aleppo Province, official SANA news agency reported Saturday.

The official media, quoting a source from the information ministry, reported that many others were also confirmed missing in the massacre committed by armed terrorist groups in the Khan al-Asal town in Aleppo, according to Xinhua.

The Syrian conflict, which has killed more than 90,000 people, is going on between forces loyal to the Syrian government and those seeking to oust it.

47 killed in Egypt clashes

At least 47 people were killed and over 700 injured in overnight clashes between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and security forces, official MENA news agency reported Saturday quoting a health ministry report.

The report said 38 people were killed in clashes near Rabaa al-Adaweya mosque in Nasr City in the capital Cairo, eight others were killed in Alexandria and one person was killed in Fayoum, southwest of Cairo, reported Xinhua.

10 soldiers killed in Pakistan checkpost attack

At least 10 soldiers were killed and four injured when some militants attacked a checkpost of coastal guards near port city of Gwadar in Pakistan’s Balochistan province early Saturday, reported Xinhua.

The pre-dawn attack occurred when an unknown number of attackers opened indiscriminate firing at the checkpost in Sansar area near Pakistan-Iran border, about 100 km from Gwadar city, local media said.

The insurgents later fled to unidentified place.

Security forces airlifted the dead and the injured people to Gwadar.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Spurious liquor kills 21 in Pakistan

At least 21 people were killed and over a dozen fell unconscious after drinking toxic alcohol in Pakistan’s industrial city of Faisalabad, Xinhua reported Saturday.

The incident occurred Friday when several people fell unconscious after consuming poisonous liquor in different areas of the city, located in Punjab province.

In the city’s Warispura area, at least 17 people were killed and over a dozen fell unconscious after drinking toxic liquor during a party. Four people were affected in Batala Colony, and died in hospital.

Residents shoot down suicide bomber in Pakistan

A terrorist attack was averted when residents of a town in Pakistan’s Quetta city killed an alleged suicide bomber just ahead of Iftar, the time for breaking Ramadan fast for people in the evening.

The incident occurred as a suspected suicide bomber was noticed walking in the city’s Hazara Town in Balochistan province, the Dawn reported.

According to police officer Mir Zubair Mehmood, residents said they initially tried to stop the suspected bomber from entering the area. But he refused to do comply. Residents then fired gunshots and killed him on the spot.

I won’t be party to a division of Andhra Pradesh, Kiran Kumar Reddy says

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has told the Congress leadership that top that he would not be a party to a division of the state.

“I will not be a party to any destructive decision”, Kiran reportedly told AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh, hours before the latter attended the Congress core group meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence last evening, sources close to him said.

Woman gang-raped in car in Indore; one held

A 28-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by three persons inside a car near Pardeshipura intersection, police said on Saturday.

A television mechanic, identified as Suraj Yadav (25) has been arrested in this connection, they added.

Police officer Vinay Arya of Pardeshipura Police Station said that Yadav and two others raped the woman inside a car near Pardeshipura intersection here on July 22.

The victim had given her TV to Yadav for repair, who allegedly asked her to collect it from a car parked in a college campus and raped her, along with others.

4 held for selling fake electrical equipments

Four persons were arrested for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake electrical equipments of a renowned company, police said today.

Gaurav, Anil, Jogendra and Manoj were arrested after Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police carried out raids
at several places in East Delhi’s Shahadara area after it received a complaint from the company in this regard, they
said.

Police have seized various packaging materials including cartons, dyes, embossing material and films during the raid.

6 injured during clash between SP, BJP councillors

As many as six persons were injured when Samajwadi Party and BJP councillors today clashed during a Meerut Nagar Nigam board meeting at Town Hall here, police said.

Local BJP leader Alok Sisodia alleged that the SP councillors, instead of raising relevant issues, passed
objectionable comments against the Mayor and created unruly scenes.

The Samajwadi Party, however, alleged that a former BJP member and his supporters entered during the meeting and when
its members opposed it, they indulged in a scuffle.

Both the parties have claimed that their members were injured in the clash.

Burnt bodies of elderly couple found

An elderly couple were found to have been “burnt alive” under mysterious circumstances at their house in Virasat Nagar here today, police said.

According to Golconda police, the burnt bodies of Swamy (70) and his wife Lingamma (65) were found early this morning
by their son Sudhama who noticed that smoke was coming out of their room.

Couple arrested for buying 15 yeard old girl, making her a prostitute

A couple was arrested in Rajasthan Saturday for buying a minor girl for Rs.20,000 from Uttar Pradesh and forcing her into prostitution, police said.

A police officer told IANS that a 15-year-old girl was spotted crying in a public place by a constable Saturday in Bikaner town, some 500 km from Jaipur.

“The girl told the police constable that she had been kidnapped by someone from her house in Varanasi. The kidnapper sold her to one Ramratan in Bikaner for Rs.20,000. She said that Ramrantan and his wife Asha were forcing her into prostitution,” the officer said.

Will not comment on relationship with Salman: SRK

Actor Shah Rukh Khan Saturday refused to comment on the relationship with star Salman Khan.

The two superstars, who were not on talking terms, hugged each other at an Iftaar party in Mumbai recently, fuelling rumours of a patchup.

“The personal relationship that I share, the altercations, the truce, the love and discussions…we don’t like to talk about those in public and we won’t begin to do that,” Shah Rukh told reporters here while promoting his forthcoming film “Chennai Express”.
