Did congress decide to create Rayala Telangana?

There are indications in the national capital that the Congress high command has already taken a decision to create a Rayala Telangana State, combining Anantapur and Kurnool districts of the Rayalaseema region with the existing Telangana districts to create new State.

A meeting of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Coordination Committee was reportedly called on Monday to take the Congress allies on board before any announcement is made in this regard.

Meanwhile the party leadership has been facing pressure to create Telangana from one side and not to divide it on the other.

Expedite process for formation of Telangana: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday demanded that the process for formation of Telangana should be expedited.

“We support the Telangana cause. The BJP is committed to form the state. Government should grant it immediately,” party chief Rajnath Singh told reporters after attending the BJP’s Scheduled Castes Morcha’s national executive meeting here.

He also said that if the state was not formed now, the BJP would ensure its formation when it comes to power.

Congress trying to defame Modi, says BJP

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu accused the Congress party for attempting to defame Narendra Modi, and said that the ruling party was threatened by the Gujarat Chief Minister’s growing popularity. “The Congress party is trying to defame Narendra Modi as they are rioted by his growing appeal and popularity. They have set up separate departments to counter and defame the leadership of the BJP. They are coming with all sorts of allegations,” said Naidu.

Man stabs girl to death, commits suicide

A spurned lover allegedly stabbed a girl to death and later committed suicide in Mau district, police said here today.

Manzoor Ansari (25) stabbed to death a 20-year-old girl in Mathmohammadpur village in Sarai Lakhansi area of Mau district and there after committed suicide yesterday, they said.

An FIR has been lodged, police said, adding it appeared to be a fall-out of one-sided love affair.

Digvijaya attacks MP CM

Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh Sunday attacked Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on corruption issues, saying the state BJP is scared of the Congress moving a no-confidence motion in the assembly.

“MP BJP scared of facing no-confidence motion moved by Congress. Seven cases of corruption involving CM’s relations to be exposed. Would he show courage?” asked Digvijaya Singh in his Twitter message.

The Congress is trying to create an impact among people by attacking the ruling party in the state where assembly polls are scheduled by this year-end.

64,000 diarrhoea cases reported in Sindh

At least 64,320 cases of diarrhoea have been reported across Pakistan’s Sindh province this month, an official said.

Masood Solangi, additional health secretary for Sindh, said that about 11,000 people were still undergoing treatment in various hospitals, the Daily Times reported Sunday.

He said there were no deaths due to diarrhoea in July.

Contaminated water and unhygienic food are the main causes of diarrhoea.

Bengal schoolgirl shot dead

A school girl was shot dead in broad daylight Sunday by two bike-riding assailants in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district. One person has been arrested in this connection, police said.

The incident happened in Falakata of Alipurduar subdivision when the girl was returning home. She was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.

“A class 11 girl was Sunday shot dead by two people on a bike. We have arrested one person in this regard,” said Additional Superintendent of Police (Alipurduar) Akash Megharia.

RIL likely to share infrastructure with ONGC in east coast

Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has signed an agreement with the government-run Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) to explore the possibility of sharing RIL’s infrastructural facility in the east coast, the two companies said.

The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at “working out the modalities for sharing of infrastructure, identifying additional requirements as well as firming up the commercial terms,” RIL said in a statement released late Saturday.

Global firms eye Pakistan for GM products

Three multinational companies have approached Pakistan’s ministry of food security to seek licences to raise genetically-modified (GM) food products in the country, a media report said Sunday.

A senior federal government official told the Dawn newspaper that a request in this regard was received by the ministry to launch GM maize and cotton.

Genetic modification is a biotechnological process used to make new products, particularly new types of crops.

Israel cabinet approves peace-talks referendum bill

The Israeli cabinet Sunday approved a draft law under which any peace agreement with the Palestinians would be brought to a referendum, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said.

The bill, titled “Basic Law: Referendum” will now be referred to the Knesset (parliament) Wednesday for an approval, Xinhua reported.

A “basic law” means it can only be revoked with the support of 61 MPs.

Narendra Modi to contest Lok Sabha polls from Bihar?

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is likely to contest the Lok Sabha election from Nalanda, the home district of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, a BJP leader said Sunday.

“There is a possibility that Modi would contest the Lok Sabha election from Nalanda,” Bharatiya Janata Party vice president C.P. Thakur told the media here.

A former central minister, Thakur said party leaders from Bihar had requested Modi to be the Nalanda candidate and they were “hopeful” that he will agree.

Bees attack couple, kill horses in US

Thousands of angry bees attacked a couple and stung their two horses to death in the US state of Texas, a media report said Sunday.

The couple, identified as 44-year-old Kristen Beauregard and her boyfriend, were exercising their two miniature horses at their home in Pantego, when the bees appeared out of nowhere and attacked them, Xinhua reported citing the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper.

The woman was stung about 200 times and her boyfriend 50. The two horses were stung so much that they did not survive.

Stunt biker shot dead by Delhi Police

Stunt biking by around 100 young men led to a tragedy in the heart of Delhi early Sunday when police opened fire killing a teenager riding pillion, police said.

Inspector Rajneesh Parmar of the Police Control Room fired from his revolver in a bid to puncture a motorcycle’s rear tyre but it instead hit the victim, Karan Pandey, on his back, police said.

The bike rider, Puneet Sharma, also fell off the bike and suffered bruises. Both Sharma and Pandey were taken to a hospital. The other bikers sped away.

A cake company based in China has claimed that they used remote-controlled aircraft on five different occasions to deliver their goods across the Huangpu River to their patrons in downtown.

According to Men Ruifeng, the marketing manager of the Incake company, the aircraft, which measures 1.1 meters in diameter, has been fitted with five propellers, flies at a height of about 100 meters and can be remotely controlled over many kilometres, Shanghai Daily reported.

He said that the drone also has two cameras and the controller can pilot it from a nearby vehicle.
