Aam Aadmi Party leader ‘critical’ after being hit by car

An Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for the coming Assembly Elections in Delhi, whose motorcycle was hit by a speeding car on Sunday, is in a critical condition, a report said on Monday.

Santosh Koli was seriously injured when a speeding car rammed into the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion. The accident occurred near Kaushambi Metro station under Link Road police station of Ghaziabad.

Koli is the AAP’s candidate from Sundar Nagari Assembly constituency in Delhi.

7527 Hajis From State Will Go To Haj This Year—No Cut In Number

Chairman of the AP State Haj Committee Jananb Syed Kahleeluddin Ahmed has assured that as many as 7527 pilgrims from the state would go to Haj this year as the Union Ministry of External Affairs has decided not to apply the 20 per cent cut in the total number of pilgrims on the selected pilgrims of the Haj Committee.

BJP Will Come Into Power In 2014: Venkaiah

BJP senior leader Venkaiah Naidu claimed that his party would come back to power in the 2014 elections.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, he said the people would not vote for the UPA which buried itself in scams. He has expressed the view that most parties had turned into family organizations and asserted that it was strength of commitment that was needed and not heredity in politics. Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi is not opposed to creation of separate Telangana State, said MRPS founder President Manda Krishna Madiga on Sunday.

Speaking to the media here, he said they were in favour of separate Telangana with the spirit of Dr B R Ambedkar, but at the same time, they were opposed to the domination and rule of landlords (doralu). Lucknow cops give one day salary for Uttarakhand relief

Lucknow police personnel have donated a day’s salary to contribute towards relief and rehabilitation work in calamity-hit Uttarakhand, a police official said.

The state capital police has collected a sum of Rs.31.81 lakh.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lucknow, J. Ravindra Gaur told IANS that all policemen in the state capital have donated a day’s salary.

“It is a tragedy that has pained all of us and it was out of compassion and feeling the terrible pain for our neighbouring state that we all decided to do our bit,” said Gaur.

Over 570 UP villages flood-hit following incessant rains

More than 570 villages of Uttar Pradesh have been hit by floods following incessant downpour in most parts of the state since Sunday, officials said Monday.

Most districts in the flood-hit areas have received 25 to 30 mm rainfall in the last one day and the rivers are in spate in these areas, leading to flooding of villages.

Regional met director J.P. Gupta told IANS that there was a low pressure over eastern Uttar Pradesh and in such conditions more rains would come in this week.

28 killed, over 70 injured in Pakistan suicide attack

At least 28 people, included nine women and a minor girl, were killed and over 70 injured in a suicide blast in Quetta city of Pakistan’s Balochistan province Sunday night, the Dawn reported.

The incident occurred in the city’s Hazra town, targetting a religious seminary of Shia Muslim community.

It was a powerful blast which suspended the electricity supply to the area, delaying rescue work. A number of vehicles, shops and houses located nearby the blast site were also damaged, local media said.

Kolkata, Bangalore rallyists take top honours at Mughal Rally

Rallyists from Kolkata and Bangalore took the top honours at the fourth Mughal Rally – India’s first hill climb challenge – held in Jammu and Kashmir.

Around 120 rallyists from various parts of the country took part in the race from June 28-29 competing in four categories: Rally Xtreme (4X4), Rally Xtreme (Motorcycles), Rally Enduro (Car category) and Rally Enduro (SUV category). Rally Xtreme is an outright speed rush while Rally Enduro follows the Time-Speed-Distance (TSD) format.

The final results of the rally were announced Sunday.

Downpours leave 14 dead, several missing in China

At least 14 people were killed while several others went missing following heavy rainfall that caused flooding and landslide in various regions across China, authorities said Sunday.

Torrential rains and hail that suddenly lashed Erdos city in China’s Inner Mongolia region, Sunday afternoon killed at least eight people and left another missing, reported Xinhua citing government sources said.

In Anhui province, four people died and as many buried under houses that collapsed due to flooding Sunday, local authorities said.

France wants US to explain spying allegation

France has called on the US to explain spying allegation on the European Union (EU) offices in Washington, Brussels and the UN.

“We are waiting the US authorities to answer as soon as possible the legitimate questions raised by press report,” reported Xinhua citing French Foreign Affairs Minister Laurent Fabius in a statement Sunday. “If these allegations would be confirmed, they would be totally unacceptable.”

Paris Jackson getting better, says uncle

Paris Jackson, daughter of late pop legend Michael Jackson, is getting better and she will be out soon of the UCLA Medical Center.

“She’s doing wonderful right now. She’s getting better. She should be out soon,” eonline.com quoted her uncle Jackie Jackson as saying.

Paris has been hospitalised since June 5 after she attempted suicide by cutting one of her wrists and taking an overdose of pills.

Ajman, Qatar review relations

Ajman, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Qatar have reviewed existing relations between them and ways to boost them in various fields for the benefit of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The meet was held between Ajman ruler Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi and the Ambassador of Qatar to the UAE, Abdullah Mohammed Al Othman, who paid him a courtesy visit.

Living in a bubble: Rochelle Humes

Rochelle Humes, member of girls band The Saturdays, said she and her husband have been living in a bubble since the birth of their daughter.

The two have been happy since welcoming Alaia-Mai, and think that the their five-week old baby is a dream child as she hardly disturbs them during the night, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

“It’s going well, she only wakes up once in the night so great so far…We’ve been living in a bubble,” Humes told the Sunday Mirror’s Notebook magazine.
