Proposed Hajj House in fresh controversy

While the State Hajj Committee has refused to accept Waqf land for the construction of new Hajj House, the proposed Hajj House has landed in a fresh controversy. In a meeting held on Monday the state Hajj Committee has refused to construct Hajj House on the Waqf Board land. Passing a resolution the Hajj Committee demanded to allot government land on any suitable place in Greeter Hyderabad limits for the construction of Hajj Hose. If government land is not available then government should acquire any other land excepting Waqf Board land for the purpose.

Morsi rejects army ultimatum

Egypt’s presidency has rejected an ultimatum issued by the army, saying it would continue with its own plan for national reconciliation.

The army had warned Islamist president Mohammed Morsi that it would intervene if he failed to meet the demands of the people within 48 hours.

In a statement, the presidency said the army declaration, which had not been cleared by the presidency, could cause confusion, and the presidency would continue on its own path towards national reconciliation.

India’s first navigation satellite launched successfully

In a landmark late night journey into a new era of space application, India today successfully launched its first dedicated navigation satellite using the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle which blasted off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre here.

Precisely at 11.41 pm, India’s workhorse PSLV C22 lifted off in a perfect text book launch, carrying IRNSS-1A satellite, painting a dense golden flame in the dark canvas of the sky.

About 20 minutes after its launch, the rocket placed into the IRNSS-1A into its orbit.

Egypt Army gives 48-hour ultimatum to Mursi

Egypt’s President Mohammed Mursi has been given ultimatum by the country’s powerful Army that it will intervene if people’s demands were not met within 48 hours.

Millions took to the streets demanding the resignation of beleaguered President Mohamed Mursi on Monday, as at least 16 people were killed in clashes across the country.

“The armed forces reiterates its call that the demands of the people be met,” a televised statement from the armed forces said, giving political parties a 48-hour period “as a last chance to bear the historical burden that the nation is currently facing.”

Man hurls wife to death from ninth-floor apartment

An Albanian woman died when her husband threw her from the balcony of their ninth-floor apartment in northern Italy, police said.

The 30-year-old man, who has a criminal record, was arrested Monday in Cologno Monzese in Lombardy region on suspicion of murdering his 31-year-old wife late Sunday.

The man initially claimed his wife had committed suicide, but police noted deep scratches on his face and stomach, indicating there had been a violent struggle.

Teacher arrested for rape attempt on girl student

A teacher of a city-based senior secondary school was arrested today for his alleged attempt to rape a girl student of class 12, police said.

The girl, a student of SD Senior Secondary school, had gone for her coaching classes at the residence of the teacher Sanjeev Kumar on June 17, they said.

After the classes got over, Sanjeev asked her to stay back. When all other students left, he bolted the door from inside and tried to rape the girl, who somehow managed to escape and reached her home, police said.

Facing allegations from BJP of not taking timely action to rescue Bihari pilgrims in Uttarakhand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today made a veiled attack on his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi saying he was no ‘Rambo’ but took steps for assisting pilgrims there.

“I am not Rambo type of personality. I do not have that kind of potential,” he told reporters emerging from “Janata Ke Darbar me Mukhya Mantri” programme.

Amid reports that Modi had rescued 15,000 Gujarati pilgrims from Uttarakhand, Congress had termed the senior BJP leader ‘Rambo’.

Pilot who landed chopper on river: Just doing job

The pilot of a sightseeing helicopter that made an emergency landing on New York’s Hudson River says he was just doing his job.

Michael Campbell tells the New York Post everything was going smoothly yesterday when suddenly he heard “a big boom.”

The charter helicopter was carrying a family of four Swedes when it lost power shortly after takeoff. It landed safely on the river. No one was injured.

The 23-year-old pilot said he knew he needed to remain calm. He says, “if I panicked, I knew it wouldn’t be a very good ending.”

I was not invited for Telangana meeting: Danam

Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Monday clarified that he did not participate in the Telangana Sadhana Sabha held at Nizam College Grounds as he did not get invite for the same.

Talking to reporters after receiving AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here, Nagender said that there were no personal or specific reasons for his absence from the meeting. He said that as a public representative of Hyderabad city he has already conveyed his opinion on Telangana to the party high command.

OU student to represent India in Korean Taikwando Championship

Jarapulavath Babulal Naik, a Post Graduate student of Mass communication and Journalism of OU, is representing India to participate in the prestigious WTF Chunchiyan Open Taikwando Championship-2013 to be held in South Korea from July 4th to July 9th.

Of the ten participants selected from India, Jarapulavath Babulal Naik is the only participant from Andhra Pradesh.

TDP Muslim Minority Cell Leader Quits

Mohd, Raheemullah Khan Riyazi, State general secretary, TDP Minority Cell, sent his resignation to TDP Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday citing “continuous injustice” as a reason to do so.

The senior TDP leader, who has been associated with the party since its inception in 1982, said the injustice had been continuing in spite of “repeated requests”. He mentioned in his letter that his resignation was a loss of one lakh Muslim voters from the State to the TDP. (NSS)

Nothing Wrong In Telugus Having Two States: Kishan

BJP State president G Kishan Reddy has opined that there was nothing wrong in having two States for Telugu people.

Speaking after inaugurating party executive meeting here on Monday, Kishan Reddy said the BJP would extend full support to division of the State. He also said no party was sincerity with regard to BC Reservation process.

Diggy Agrees To Invite Damodara Also To Core Committee Meeting

AICC state party incharge Digvijay Singh has agreed to invite the Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha also for the party’s core committee meeting to be held at Delhi during the week.

Talking to the media, he said leaders of both the Seemandhra and Telangana regions had met him and expressed their views. He said he would submit a report to the High Command, mentioning about both the views. He said the three leaders would attend the core committee meeting and submit their reports.

RTC Men Plan Fast; Management Calls For Talks

APSRTC Employees Union general secretary Padmakar has said the RTC employees would go on indefinite relay hunger strike all over the State from July 5.

Meanwhile, APSRTC Managing Director A.K. Khan invited EU and TMU union leaders for talks on Tuesday. Padmakar demanded that government expedite the process of wage revision with retrospective effect from April 1. Governor E S L Narsimhan on Monday exuded confidence that the Centre would soon come out with a decision on Telangana statehood as it was making exercises for a solution acceptable to all the people of three regions.

Speaking to the media here, Narsimhan said Digvijay Singh, who is touring the State, was talking to Congress leaders of all the regions and he may submit a report to the Centre.

Two Options Before Congress, Diggy Tells T Party Leaders

AICC leader In-charge of State Affairs Digvijay Singh here on Monday felt the options before the Congress high command on Telangana issue were either to keep Andhra Pradesh united or bifurcate it.

Digvijay Singh, in a meeting held with Telangana Congress leaders in Lake View Guest House, admitted there was delay in taking a decision by the Congress high command on the demand of Telangana statehood. He asked them to submit their views on the issue to the Chief Minister and the PCC president, who would submit a report to the party high command.

India plans series of satellite launches by March 2014

The Indian space agency has lined up a series of launches for this fiscal, including the silver jubilee flight of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-C25 (PSLV-C25) carrying the Mars orbiter, a top official said.

“The Mars mission will be anytime after October 21 this year. As per plans after the ejecting the orbiter, it will start its Mars voyage around November 28 or 29,” Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K. Radhakrishnan told reporters here Tuesday.

Over a fortnight after the flash-floods, while many villages remain inaccessible by road, tragic stories are emerging from areas where dirt tracks have been opened up. About seven kilometres from Guptkashi, the six-odd hamlets that comprise the Deoli-Bramhagram panchayat have reported 57 men missing, and the area is fast getting the tag of the “village of widows”.

For about six months of the year, the menfolk here go to Kedarnath, where they work as mule operators, ferrying pilgrims from Gaurikund. Many of them have not returned home.
