Three students killed in mishap in J-K

Three students, including two girls were killed and six other persons injured when the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh region, police said today.

The mishap took place at Wanlado near Lamayuru in Leh, 434 kms from here, last evening when the driver lost control over the cab, which skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge, they said.

The students, who were studying in Jammu, were returning home.

1.Take a pan and fry the bread pieces in 1 tbsp of butter and remove the bread pieces.
2.In the same pan fry the chicken with 1 tbsp of oil until cooked and add pepper and salt while cooking .
3.Take another pan heat oil and saute the onions for a while and add the fried bread pieces and fried chicken.

IAF chopper crash: J-K announces Rs 1 lakh for ITBP SI’s kin

Jammu and Kashmir government today announced Rs 1 lakh to the next of kin of ITBP Sub Inspector Bhim Singh, who along with 19 others was killed in an IAF chopper crash during rescue operations in flood-ravaged Uttrakhand last month.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sanctioned Rs 1 lakh for Singh, a resident of Bobiya village of Hiranagar in Kathua district of Jammu region, an official spokesman said.

In his condolence message to the family of the deceased, Omar conveyed his sympathy and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

‘Have adequate ability to respond to emergency requirements’

India today said it has adequate ability to respond to emergency requirements, justifying its decision to decline the offer of assistance by Russia in rescue and relief operations in Uttarakhand, which was hit by severe flash floods last month.

However, the government said if there was any other offer in the rehabilitation and reconstruction phase, it can examine that.

Solar Energy Enclave inaugurated at IIT-Kanpur

To encourage research in alternative sources of energy, Solar Energy Research Enclave has been set up at Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur.

Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT-K, M Anandkrishnan inaugurated the building, a first of its kinds in an educational institute in the country, in which the solar energy plant provides 250 units of power.

On the occasion Director-IIT Kanpur Indranil Manna said that with the combined efforts of Department of Science and Technology (DST), IIT Kanpur and support from Britain, the solar energy enclave has been established.

Cloudy day in capital, high humidity plays spoiler

Cloud cover kept temperature in the national capital under tolerable levels today, but high humidity continued to make life tough for Delhiites.

The maximum temperature was registered at 35.2 deg C, one degree below normal for this part of the year, while minimum temperature too remained one notch below normal at 26.9 deg C.

Humidity was recorded as high as 89 per cent while the minimum level was 60 per cent.

Sharif in China: Terrorism, N-energy cooperation to top agenda

CBI names Gujarat cops as accused in Ishrat Jahan killing

Nine years after Ishrat Jahan was gunned down in an alleged shootout by Gujarat Police, the CBI Wednesday filed a charge sheet in a court here naming at least six policemen as accused.

While stating that Ishrat, who lived in Thane, was not a terrorist as alleged by Gujarat Police, the CBI charge sheet named policemen P.P. Pande, A. Choudhary, D.G. Vanzare, Tarun Barot, J.R. Parmar and N.K. Amin among the accused.

The probe agency accused the policemen, including Indian Police Service officers, of murder, abduction, conspiracy and destruction of evidence, among other offences.

BJP accuses CBI of saving Pawan Bansal

The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) on Wednesday accused the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) of saving former Union Minister Pawar Kumar Bansal by not naming him in the chargesheet filed in connection with the railway bribery scam.

“The CBI has saved Pawan Kumar Bansal and this is not surprising. The Congress is talking loudly, but the point is that there is a lot of difference between just talking and implementation of the same,” said Hussain.

Pak Film Censor Board has banned “Raanjhanaa”

The Pakistan Film Censor Board has banned the exhibition of Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor starrer Raanjhanaa because of its alleged “controversial theme”.

The Central Board of Film Censors in Pakistan banned the film shortly before its scheduled release, Chief Executive Officer of IMGC Global Entertainment Amjad Rasheed, the importer of the film said.

Earlier the Censor Board had also banned films like Ek Tha Tiger, GI Joe, Agent Vinod for their controversial themes and “anti-Pakistan” sentiments.

Maoist attack: BJP demands strong anti-Naxal policy

BJP today said the Maoist strike in Jharkhand in which an IPS officer was killed shows that no lessons have been learnt from the Chhattisgarh attack in May and demanded that a strong anti-Naxal policy should be formulated and implemented.

“The killing of six police officers, including the SP, is a matter of serious concern. These men were martyred in the Naxal attack yesterday. This proves that no lessons have been learnt from the Darbaghati Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh in May,” BJP spokesperson Vijay Sonkar Shastri told reporters here.

Rahul Dravid bereaved

Sharad Dravid (79), father of former India captain Rahul Dravid, passed away here Wednesday evening at his residence, according to a press release from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA).

Sharad Dravid is survived by wife Pushpa and sons Rahul and Vijay. It was learnt that the last rites would be performed Thursday morning.

The president, office-bearers and the members of the managing committee of the KSCA mourned the sad demise and offered their condolences to the aggrieved family.

Ishrat encounter “fake”: CBI

Spelling trouble for the Narendra Modi government, the CBI today held that 19-year-old Ishrat Jahan was killed in a “fake” encounter in 2004 and charge sheeted seven police officers in the case, saying it was a joint operation between Gujarat police and the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau.

Those against whom the charge sheet was filed for murder and criminal conspiracy include absconding Additional DGP P P Pandey and suspended DIG D G Vanzara.

Debit cards now preferred means of payment to credit counterparts for online shopping

A recent industry study shows that internet shoppers have started preferring debit card over a credit card for online shopping.

The industry figures show that debit card spending by internet shoppers overtook the use of credit cards online for the first time last year.

According to BBC, online spending using a debit card reportedly hit 35 billion pounds compared with 34 billion pounds on credit cards.

Shoppers are also using debit cards more frequently in stores. Chip-and-pin machines are now a regular feature in the UK shops.

BJP slams Digvijaya Singh over communal riot charge

The BJP Wednesday accused Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh of raising the communal riot bogey to garner votes of a particular community in the Lok Sabha election due next year.

“His statement yesterday (Tuesday) that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) planned communal riots to gain in the Lok Sabha election is a clear indication that the Congress was hatching plans for riots to blame the BJP,” Karnataka BJP spokesperson C.T. Ravi told reporters here.

Khurshid visits Singapore

Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid arrived here Wednesday on a three-day visit during which he will meet leaders of Singapore.

He is in Singapore at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law K. Shanmugam, reports Xinhua.

The Singapore foreign ministry said Khurshid will call on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean.

The region is small area right between the eyes at the front of the brain. It’s called the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, or vmPFC for short.
