Girl’s body dug out of grave, sexually assaulted in Pakistan

In a shocking incident, unidentified men allegedly sexually assaulted a girl’s dead body, digging it out from a grave, hours after her burial in Gujranwala district of Pakistan’s Punjab province.

Police said the girl, a grade-VI student, was electrocuted while taking a bath in her house in Qila Dedar Singh on Tuesday and she was subsequently buried at a graveyard in Gujranwala district, about 80 kilometres from here, later in the evening.

Early this morning when the members of the girl’s family went to the graveyard to offer fateha (prayer) they found her body lying near the grave.

Table Telangana Bill in Parliament, demands TRS

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Wednesday demanded that the Congress-led UPA Government introduce Telangana Bill in the Parliament.

Talking to reporters here, TRS MLA K Tarakarama Rao said that the Congress party was trying to delay the Telangana formation by proposing to table the bill in the State Legislative Assembly. He said that Telangana State could be created by introducing the bill in the Lok Sabha. However, he clarified that the TRS was demanding Telangana Resolution in the State Legislative Assembly to expose the true colours of other political parties on the statehood issue.

Vivek hints at returning to Congress

Exactly a month after joining the TRS, Peddapalli MP Dr G Vivek on Wednesday gave indications that he might return to the Congress party.

When asked by reporters during a press conference whether he would return to the Congress party if it announces Telangana, he said that he might take a decision as per the prevailing conditions. However, he said that he has already submitted his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and she could take a decision on it.

CM asks officials to hasten works on NIMZ

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday asked the Industries Department to send the approved proposals for establishment of National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZ) in Medak and Chittoor Districts to the Government of India.

The Chief Minister said that the Expression of Interest also should be called for simultaneously. Proposal for final sanction for the NIMZ in Prakasam District also will be sent immediately. It may be recalled here that Government of India also agreed to approve the third NIMZ in Prakasam District.

Mukesh Goud says he was not invited for T-meeting

After Labour Minister Danam Nagender, another minister from the city – M Mukesh Goud said that he was not invited for the Telangana Sadhana Sabha organised by T-Congress leaders at Nizam College Grounds on June 30.

Talking to reporters here, Mukesh Goud clarified that he was in town on June 30 and watched the programme live on television news channels. However, he did not attend the same as he did not get any invite for the same.

Chief Investigating officer, Deputy Superintendent of CBI G Kalaimani, who submitted the first charge sheet today,states that alleged Pakistani national Zeeshan Johar, one of those slain alongwith Ishrat, was in the illegal custody of Gujarat police for almost three months.

Brosnan had his daughter married weeks before her death

Pierce Brosnan had walked his sick daughter Charlotte down the aisle two weeks before she lost her battle with cancer.

Brosnan, 60, was at Charlotte’s side when she wed her artist boyfriend Alex in a private ceremony. Charlotte’s 15-year-old daughter, Isabella, was a bridesmaid.

Charlotte died on Friday after battling ovarian cancer, which also killed Brosnan’s wife Cassandra, 22 years ago, the Mirror reported.

“It was the most moving day of my life. It wasn’t a day to be sad. Alex and Pierce were smiling broadly,” a guest said.

Out-of-favour opener Gautam Gambhir today refused to believe that fatigue due to excessive cricket was the reason behind India’s back-to-back defeats in the ongoing Tri series in the West Indies.

“Not at all…if you talk about fatigue, then it should not only affect the Indian team but also the other teams. They should also get affected by it. Sri Lanka is playing the same amount of cricket as India. If other team has played well, we must acknowledge it. There efforts should be recognised,” said Gambhir.

IT, NIA ‘mega-seizure’ worth only Rs.10 crore

In an anti-climax, the Income Tax department Wednesday claimed that it had recovered only Rs.10 crore (Rs.100 million) in its much-hyped seizure from a consignment of personal couriers late Monday night.

IT Director General (Investigations) Swatantra Kumar told media persons that the seized currency totalled only Rs.10 crore.

“There was no fake currency in the packets. The cash found is Rs.10 crore,” Kumar said.

Kedarnath valley to be fumigated, says Uttarakhand minister

As the rotten smell of decomposed bodies, animal carcasses and floating wood makes it difficult for rescuers to remove the dead buried under mounds of rubble in Kedarnath Valley, the Uttarakhand government is planning to fumigate the area with herbal spray. That should make it easier for airdropped men to dig out the bodies and cremate them, the state’s health minister said.

Cabinet clears Ordinance to implement Food Security Bill

The government today decided to promulgate an ordinance to give nation’s two-third population the right to 5 kgs of foodgrain every month at highly subsidised rates of Rs 1-3 per kg.

The Cabinet, which had on last month deferred a decision on the issue, today approved promulgating an ordinance to implement the Food Security Bill, sources said.

With this, India will join select league of countries in the world that guarantee majority of its population foodgrains. At Rs 125,000 crore of government support, the food security programme will be the largest in the world.

Three Himachal cops held for gangrape

Three policemen were arrested Wednesday in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi town for gangraping a 32-year-old mentally challenged woman and daughter of a former police official, an official said.

The accused took the victim to a house and allegedly raped her Tuesday, Superintendent of Police R.S. Negi told IANS.

Accused Man Singh, Subhash and Bhup Singh were presented in a local court and sent to police custody till July 6.

Pakistan SC orders Musharraf high treason case probe

Pakistan Supreme Court Wednesday ordered the government to initiate investigation into the case of alleged high treason against former president Pervez Musharraf.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told parliament last month that Musharraf would be tried for treason for abrogating the constitution twice. The government had formally informed the apex court, which had already received several petitions, seeking Musharraf’s trial.

Ishrat Jahan case: ”Congress is trying to gain political points,” says BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Wednesday stated that Congress is trying to gain political points over the Ishrat Jahan case.

“They are running away from a debate. BJP clearly said they wanted a debate on this. Those people who need it will have to get it. Congress promised to bring it in the first 100 days, rather they are bringing in the last 100 days, and it clearly shows that they are doing it for political reasons and to gain political points,” said BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman, after the CBI released its chargesheet in this case.

Maoist insurgent arrested in Mardapal village of Chhattisgarh

A 33-year-old Maoist, carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000, was arrested in the Maoist-hit Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh, the police said.

The insurgent was nabbed from Mardapal village of the district today, Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Surjeet Atri told PTI.

The arrested Maoist was identified as Ramsingh Nag, who joined the Maoist movement as section commander of Kaknar
platoon in 2010.

He was involved in a number of crimes ranging from loot, arson, murder in the region, Atri said.

minister’s role in such encounters will also be exposed.

US sanctions complicate nuclear issue: Iran

The parents of Ankur Sharma who went missing in New Zealand have expressed their concern over his safety as he had been the victim of an assault earlier. The parents have been in constant touch with the authorities in New Zealand ever since he went missing. 23-year-old Ankur Sharma has been in New Zealand since February this year on a student visa and was currently on a work visa after the completion of his course. He has been missing since June 9 and was last seen in the south Auckland suburb of Manurewa.
