FIR registered against sub-inspector, 2 constables

A sub-inspector and two constables have been booked for allegedly snatching over Rs. 1 lakh from a trader during vehicle inspection in Sambhal.

An FIR was registered yesterday against sub-inspector Jai Pal Singh and constables — Manish Kumar and Pravin Kumar — at Chandausi police station, SP Tehsildar Singh said.

According to the FIR, the trio allegedly snatched Rs. 1.10 lakh from trader Genda Lal on Tuesday during vehicle checking and assaulted him, the FIR said.

The three policemen have also been suspended over the charge made against them.

Bihar gets coal block for thermal power projects

The central government has allocated a separate coal block for three upcoming thermal power projects in electricity starved Bihar, a state minister said here Friday.

“It is a big relief for Bihar. The coal block has been allocated for three thermal power projects in the state after a long wait,” Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav told IANS.

The minister added that the centre has allocated a coal block in West Bengal for the upcoming projects at Pirpainti in Bhagalpur district, Kajra in Lakhisarai and Chausa in Buxar.

Andhra CM, leaders asked to prepare strategy for Telangana: Digvijay

Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Friday said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and other party leaders have been asked to prepare their strategy on formation of Telangana.

The statement comes days after the Congress general secretary had said that Telangana issue is in final stage and will be announced as early as possible.

Digvijay Singh had told reporters Monday that there are only two options before the government – united Andhra Pradesh or formation of state of Telangana.

Missing man’s dead body found
(Siasat News): Pet Bashirabad police has found the dead body of a man from a drain who was mysteriously missing since yesterday.

As per the details, Manumdar Rao, 33, had left his house situated at New Bhoiguda on July 2. Pet Bashirabad police has found his dead body from a drain.

Police sources further said that the deceased mental condition was not sound. A case has been registered and further investigations are on.

Seven human heads found in trash bags in Mexico

Police officers in Jalisco, a state in western Mexico, found seven human heads and other body parts in trash bags by a road in the city of Zacoalco, media reports said.

The body parts were discovered Tuesday night in a field and taken to the coroner’s office in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, where state prosecutors are analyzing them.

The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office did not comment on the case.

Rupee up 10 paise Vs dollar in early trade

The rupee today rose by 10 paise to 60.03 in early trade on the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on increased dollar selling by banks and exporters amid strong domestic equities.

The rupee had strengthened by eight paise to close at 60.13 a dollar yesterday, following firm local equities and fresh currency sales by exporters.

Selling of dollars by exporters and some banks coupled with a higher opening in the equity market supported the local unit, forex dealers said. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex spurted by 206.05 points, or 1.06 per cent, to trade at 19,616.89 in early trade today.

Former Maoist Ganti Prasadam is dead

Former Maoist leader Ganti Prasada Rao alias Prasadam, who was shot at and critically injured by unidentified people in Nellore Thursday, succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday, police said.

Ganti Prasadam, as he was popularly known, died while undergoing treatment at Narayana Hospital in Nellore town, about 500 km from here. He was 50.

The body was sent for autopsy. His family members said the body would be taken to his native place Bobbili in Srikakulam district for last rites.

Modi to formally kickstart BJP 2014 campaign today

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was recently anointed as the poll panel chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is slated to kickstart implementing his plans on Friday. The Gujarat strongman is slated to address party workers and leaders in Bihar, where the BJP underwent a split with the JD(U) following Modi’s elevation as the poll panel chief.

This comes a day after the BJP parliamentary board meeting, wherein the party appeared to have put its internal rift behind. Veteran leader L K Advani was seen sitting next to Modi.

SC gives timeframe for vacating government accommodation

Supreme Court Friday issued guidelines giving timeframe for vacating government accommodation by judges and government employees upon their retirement or seizing to occupy the office. This also applies to members of parliament.

The apex court bench headed by Justice P. Satsasivam said that judges would vacate government accommodation within one month of their retirement and the government employee would do so within 15 days of their retirement.

Woman dies suspiciously at Humayun Nagar

Farhana Begum (32) died suspiciously at Humayun Nagar. According to police the deceased was the wife of Mohammed Ahmed Ali resident of Kotla Alijah. She had arrived to her parent’s house at Humayun Nagar where she had a sudden fatal fall.

Farhana Begum sustained head injuries and she succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. Police has registered a case and investigations are underway.

India and China will not rush to resolve differences over their contested border even as there has been steady progress in the overall relationship, said External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid.

Modi’s Hyderabad visit put off

Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Hyderabad has been put off temporarily. Modi was to address ‘Bharat Yuva Sammelan’ scheduled to be held on July 27 by BJP. But keeping in view the 2nd phase of Panchayat elections BJP has decided to postpone Bharat Yuva Sammelan.

Speaking to media Mr. G Kishan Reddy president State BJP told that Panchayat elections will be in the final phase on July 31. It is being mulled over to organize Sammelan next month between 3rd to 5th August.

Lack of series with India cost us USD 80 million: PCB

Blaming it on lack of bilateral series with India, the Pakistan Cricket Board claims to have lost approximately USD 80 million in its broadcasting deal with the Dubai-based Ten Sports that ended last month.

A senior official of the board told PTI that since Pakistan didn’t host any home series against India in the four-year broadcasting deal, it lost out on an estimated USD 80 million from its total deal of USD 135 million.

State should refrain from hosting iftar: Muslim group

A Muslim group has asked government agencies not to host iftar parties during Ramzan, which begins on July 10 or 11, depending on the new moon’s sighting.

Muslims activists have also suggested that the money, which is spent in hosting lavish iftar dinners should be donated to the relief fund for victims of flashfloods in Uttarakhand.

Led by NGO Muslim Front, the activists are campaigning against hosting of iftar parties, especially by the government.

BJP urges governor to dissolve Jharkhand Assembly

Former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda on Thursday urged Governor Syed Ahmed to immediately dissolve the 82-member state assembly.

Accompanied by Bharatiya Janata Party state president Ravindra Rai and others, Munda met the governor and requested him to dissolve the House and pave the way for fresh polls.

The party also submitted a memorandum backing their demand, according to an official release.

The move by BJP to call on the governor comes in the wake of Congress and JMM inching towards forming the ninth government in Jharkhand in a little over 12 years.
