The immigration authorities cited the age gap as one of the reasons to deny Singh the visa, a move which he labels as ‘ageist’ and ‘racist’, the New Zealand Herald reports.

Suicide attack kills nine in Balochistan’s Chaman region

Nine people including six Afghan officials have been reportedly killed in a suicide attack that took place in Chaman region of Balochistan at the Pak-Afghan border. According to The Dawn, Pakistan officials said that the suicide bomber blew himself while targeting the vehicle of Afghan border forces. Afghan security officials said that Afghan border commander Akhtar Muhammad was the intended target of the suicide attack. However, the officials said that Muhammad survived the attack.

Pak austerity measures may see foreign missions reduced by a fourth

The Pakistan government is reportedly considering plans to shut its missions overseas by one-fourth, apart from cutting down perks and privileges for its diplomats and staff posted abroad. Indian fisherman awaiting release in Pak jail dies of hypotension

A 60-year-old Indian fisherman, Dadu Bhai, dies in the Malir District jail of Pakistan.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police, Shunail H. Shah, said that Dadu had completed his prison term and was only awaiting release orders to reunite with his family.

Shah said that Dadu had suddenly fallen ill on Wednesday after his blood pressure dropped drastically and was receiving treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

The Dawn reports that the cause of his death was hypotension and cardiopulmonary failure.

Xinxinyu Household Service Company in Shenzen, southern China, has started providing services of wet nurses – or adult nannies – to the sick and wealthy citizens who believe that the breast milk has high nutritional value, the Sun reported.

Lin Jun, manager of the home help agency, said that his clientele features tired company directors and rich couples from Hong Kong.

He told a local newspaper that adults are breastfed, or if they feel embarrassed they drink it from a breast pump.

African Union suspends Egypt’s membership

Following the overthrow of Egypt’s elected president Mohammed Morsi by the military, the African Union (AU) Friday suspended that country’s membership until restoration of constitutional order.

The decision was taken at the emergency session of the AU’s Peace and Security Council (PSC) here.

“The PSC will deliberate on the situation in Egypt and take the required decisions on the basis of the relevant AU instruments, including the African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance, the Algiers Decision and the Lome Declaration,” a statement said.
