TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s brother’s daughter Regulapati Ramya has alleged that she was facing a threat to her life from KCR.

Speaking to the media here on Friday, Ramya said TRS leaders were resorting to physical attacks as she opposed the TRS in the past. Along with TRS former leader Chinta Swamy, Ramya met Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and urged him to provide security to her. Aadhar Cards To All In Four Months: Ponnala

Minister for Information Technology Ponnala Laxmaiah on Friday informed that the process of issuance of Aadhar Cards to all would be completed in next three or four months.

Speaking to the media after visiting Khairatabad “Mee Seva” centre where Aadhar cards services were offering along with UNIC ID Chairman Nandan Nulekhani, Ponnala Laxmaiah stated that two crores people in the State were getting various services using Aadhar cards. The Aadhar cards should be issued to all within three or four months.

Telephone Booth Opened In Chanchalguda Jail

Deputy Inspector General of Jails Department Chandrasekhar on Friday inaugurated a telephone booth in the Chanchalguda Central Jail in order to enable the prisoners to talk to their family members.

Speaking on the occasion, Chandrasekhar said the telephone booth was set up in the jail to enable the prisoners to talk to their family members twice a week for about five minutes.

Ahmedabad: cycle shop owners asked to record buyers’ details

In the wake of twin blasts in Hyderabad four months ago where bombs had been planted on bicycles, the police here have made it mandatory for bicycle shop owners to maintain record of buyers.

The notification, issued by Ahmedabad Police Commissioner S K Saikia yesterday, is also applicable to sellers of battery-run motorbikes.

The buyers of bicycles and battery-run motorbikes will have to produce documents such as driving license, PAN card, voter ID, identification letter of the employee organisation, etc.

92-year-old Iraqi weds woman seven decades junior

A 92-year-old Iraqi farmer married a woman 70 years his junior in a village north of Baghdad, he said today, voicing happiness at getting hitched alongside two teenage grandchildren who also tied the knot.

Musali Mohammed al-Mujamaie married 22-year-old Muna Mukhlif al-Juburi yesterday evening, three years after the death of his first wife of 58 years, with whom he raised 16 children in his home village of Gubban, which lies just south of the central Iraqi city of Samarra.

“I am so happy to get married with my grandsons,” Mujamaie told AFP after the ceremony.

Sharif vows to crackdown on Islamic militants active in China

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today assured the Chinese leadership that his country would crackdown on an Islamic militant group carrying out a separatist movement in China’s restive Xinjiang province.

On his maiden foreign tour to China after taking over power in June, Sharif told his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang that his administration “regard East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) as our common threat and stand united in combating this menace.”

Half the ‘babus’ will go to jail if scams are probed: Goa CM

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said today that half the government officials in the state administration would go behind bars if the “scams committed during the former Congress-led government” were to be investigated.

“There is virtually no local (government) officer who is not involved in the illegalities (during the former government). They were involved in the scams like recruitment, where they have signed the documents,,” Parrikar told an annual general meeting of Goa Small Industries Association (GSIA) here today.

Woman given wrong blood, dies in govt hospital

In a tragic incident, a 24-year-old woman died after she was allegedly transfused with a wrong group of blood at a government-run hospital here.

Rajeshwari B G, an anaemia patient who was ‘O’+, died yesterday after being given B+ blood.

Her family has lodged a police complaint blaming the blood bank technician at the hospital.

The government has ordered an inquiry into the episode, official sources said.

The patient, who died early yesterday, was suffering from anaemia for the past few years, officials said.

Doctors rejected turning off Mandela life support

Nelson Mandela’s doctors have rejected the idea of turning off the ailing icon’s life support unless he suffers massive organ failure, a close family friend said today.

Denis Goldberg — an anti-apartheid activist who has been Mandela’s friend for more than half a century — said the issue of turning off life support was discussed and ultimately dismissed.

“I was told the matter had been raised and the doctors said they would only consider such a situation if there was a genuine state of organ failure,” Goldberg said.

Bombings targeting Shiites kill 19 in Iraq

A suicide attacker and a car bombing killed at least 19 people and wounded 38 in separate attacks today targeting Shiites north of Baghdad.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks, the latest in an increasing wave of violence across the country.

Iraq has been facing its deadliest outburst of violence since 2008, with more than 2,000 people killed since the start of April.

The bloodshed appears to be largely the work of resurgent Sunni militants such as al-Qaeda’s Iraq branch, feeding off Sunni discontent with the Shiite-led government.

Auto driver held for rape

A married woman was allegedly raped by an autorickshaw driver and an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) constable here in Badshahpur area. The driver has been arrested while the constable is on the run, police said Friday.

Auto driver Mahinder, 26, allegedly raped a 28-year-old woman after taking her to a house on the pretext of providing her a loan from a firm.

Mahinder took her to a room in a house and raped her Thursday evening. After that, IRB constable Balkrishan raped her, police said.

Muslim Brotherhood chief vows sacrifice to defend Morsi

Mohamed Badie, the chief or general guide of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, has vowed that he and millions of supporters of Mohamed Morsi would sacrifice their lives and “souls” for the ousted president.

“We will sacrifice our souls for him,” Xinhua quoted Badie as telling supporters during a sit-in at Rabia al-Adawiya Square in Nasr City, Cairo.
