APCC President Mr. Botsa Satyanarayana appointed Tahar-bin-Hamadan as district Congress President of Nizamabad. Earlier he was vice Chairman of Zilla Parishad. Minister of Heavy Irrigation Mr. P.Sudarshan Reddy and his supporters tried seriously for his appointment. Mr. Hamadan met Mr. Sudarshan Reddy, Mr. D.Srinivas, Mr. Madhu Goud Yashki and Mr. Mohd Ali Shabbeer and thank all of them. He promised that he would work for the Congress Party for the success of its candidates in local bodies elections.

25 dead in two days of Iraq violence

Two days of violence in Iraq killed 25 people, including six family members shot dead while returning from a wedding, police officers and doctors said today.

The deadliest attack today hit north Iraq, where a car bomb south of the city of Mosul killed six people, including three children, and wounded eight.

A car bomb in the city also killed one person and wounded four.

In Madain, south of Baghdad, a bomb exploded near a football field inside a sports club today, killing at least five people.

Pakistan’s Imran Khan leaves for UK for medical checkup

Pakistan’s cricketing hero and politician Imran Khan today left for Britain to consult medical specialists about back injuries he sustained after a dramatic fall ahead of the May 11 historic polls.

Khan will stay in London for several days and also meet his two sons whom he had not seen for the last five months, Diya Rehman of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party told PTI.

“It is a private visit and he will see the doctor and meet his children. No political activity or meeting of this nature has been so far on the agenda,” Rehman said.

Ramadan in UAE, Saudi Arabia to begin on Wednesday

The Moon Sighting Committee announced on Monday that Ramadan will start in the UAE on Wednesday, July 10.
The committee issued a statement after investigation and application of Sharia laws, confirming that Wednesday will be the beginning of Ramadan.

This is the first time that the committee has taken so long to declare the first day of Ramadan, setting a precedent. The announcement was made at 10:10pm.

In Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Malaysia, Australia and Singapore, Ramadan will begin on Wednesday.

Having been placed second last year, the 32-year-old rider Muzaffar went one better, leaving last year’s champion Rustom Patel, and former champions Manjeet Singh Bassan, Avtar Singh and Shamim Khan in the shade as he won the gruelling 25 kms monsoon challenge over the backwoods of Navi Mumbai in 28 minutes, 50 seconds in penalties. Lady dies of wrong blood transfusion, Delhi govt asked to pay

National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) today asked the Delhi government to pay Rs four lakh compensation to the next of kin of a pregnant woman who died due to transfusion of wrong blood group in a city hospital.

The NHRC has asked the city government to pay Rs four lakh as monetary relief to the next of kin of Priya, who died due to transfusion of wrong blood group at Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. The Commission has also asked for the proof of payment, a statement said.

Pak targets Indian soldiers during rescue operation

Violating the truce, Pakistani troops today fired at Indian soldiers while they were trying to evacuate two porters who were wounded in a blast, triggered by suspected militants, along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district.

Targeting army’s civilian porters, ultras detonated an IED while they were carrying supplies from one army post to another in Sabzian-Mandi belt along the LoC at around 8 am, an army officer said.

Two porters were wounded, one of them critically, and a pony was killed in the blast, he said.

45 beggars arrested in Ajmer city ahead of Prez visit

Ahead of President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti shrine in Ajmer city, 45 persons including beggars have been arrested from the area, police said today.

Police arrested 33 persons from the Dargah area and 12 persons were held in Ganj area yesterday. Most of them are wanderers, beggars and arrested under Section 151 of IPC, they said, adding that the step was taken to clear the city of ‘antisocial elements’.

All the arrested persons have been kept in judicial custody, police said.

Woman alleges gangrape; suspects absconding

A 28-year-old woman today alleged that four persons raped her late last month in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, police said.

In her complaint, the victim, an agricultural labourer, alleged that the four, all residents of Dedugulavadi village of the district, sexually assaulted her on June 28 in a farm where she was working.

Police in Kangti town of Medak registered a case of rape and sent the woman for medical examination.

A hunt has been launched for the absconding accused, a police officer said.

Mastermind of MBA entrance test racket held: Police

City Police today claimed to have arrested the mastermind of an MBA entrance test racket, which was busted in the month of May, taking the total number of arrests in the case to eight.

Arrested accused, identified as Vikas Bansal (34), was picked up from Delhi by the BKC Cyber police yesterday.

Bansal was produced in the court today which remanded him in police custody till July 22, BKC Cyber police Senior Inspector Nandkumar More said.

US still analysing Egypt situation, White House says

Describing the situation in Egypt as “complex and difficult” and having consequences, the White House today said it was closely monitoring the situation in the Arab nation and was still to determine whether the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi was indeed a military coup.

Expressing concern over the eruption of violence in Egypt after the Muslim Brotherhood’s Morsi was ousted by the military last week, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the US is “monitoring the situation” in Egypt and will take time to determine the events that happened in the country and how to analyse them.

Tunnelling at Jama Masjid for Phase III begins

Tunnelling work between Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate metro station for Phase III project started today.

A 96-metre-long completely assembled underground Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) began the work.

It is the longest TBM ever used in Delhi Metro project and weighs approximately 500 tonnes.

“Its is the longest ever TBM and is the first ever to be inserted together. It will construct a 1,065 meter long tunnel (710 rings) and emerge at Delhi Gate on the up line,” a DMRC official said.

27 killed in Iraq attacks

A string of attacks in different parts of Iraq left at least 27 people killed and 13 wounded, police said Monday.

Four people were killed and six injured when a car bomb struck a policeman’s house in the residential complex of Mishraq, near Mosul city, some 400 km from Baghdad, reported Xinhua citing a police source.

Two civilians were killed and four wounded, including two army members, when a car bomb targeted an army patrol in Mosul, the source said.

UAE to release 973 prisoners on Ramadan

The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered releasing 973 prisoners, serving different jail terms, on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Sheikh Khalifa pledged to settle all the prisoners’ financial commitments resulting from their court cases. The release comes as part of the president’s keenness to give the inmates a chance to resume new life and ease suffering of their families.

Youth held for raping, killing 4-year-old girl

Police today arrested a 24-year-old youth for abducting, raping and murdering a minor girl at Moti Khavdi village near here.

The girl’s father, Manoj Paswan, had lodged a complaint today with Panchkoshi ‘B’ police station saying that his daughter was missing, police said.

Soon, policemen intercepted a youth suspiciously carrying a bag on his motorcycle and found that it contained the dead body of the girl.

Two sentenced to life imprisonment in gangrape case

Two persons were today sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2011 Dumas gangrape case by a Sessions Court here.

Sessions Judge I C Shah awarded life sentence to Jitendra Kumar Singh and Kamal Singh after being convicted for gangrape and fined them Rs 50,000.

They were also convicted under Section 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 114 (abettor present when offence is committed) of the IPC.
