Woman techie ends life in Andhra

Apparently under depression, a woman software engineer allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at a lodge in Lakdi-ka-Pul area here, police said on Monday.

The body of K Pallavi (26), a native of Hayath Nagar in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district, was found hanging inside the lodge room this morning, they said.

59 bikers booked, 10 vehicles seized in Delhi

Ten vehicles were impounded and 59 bikers were booked here for violation of traffic rules at night, police said Monday.

The action taken Sunday night was part of a drive launched in June and came a day after a stunt biker was shot dead in police firing in central Delhi past Saturday midnight.

“We checked 860 motorcycles and challaned 59 of them in New Delhi area last night. At least 10 bikes have been impounded,” Deputy Commissioner of Police S.B.S. Tyagi told IANS.

Digvijay Singh plays safe on Telangana statehood row

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday continued to maintain suspense on the issue of separate statehood to Telangana, saying a decision is to be taken.

“I really don’t know the agenda as yet. But yes, the decision is to be taken,” he told mediapersons here.

Singh, who isin-charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh, also played safe on whether a decision on the issue could be taken up in the UPA Coordination Committee meeting.

Baby stolen from Noida district hospital

A newborn was on Monday stolen from the district hospital here by a woman, who first befriended with the mother and then managed to vanish with the child.

The mother Neetu, a resident of Rahul Vihar in Ghaziabad, had brought the baby for check up at the OPD, police said.

She had given birth to the child at the hospital earlier this month.

The suspected woman took the baby on the pretext of changing her cloths and then managed to disappear from the hospital, they said.
