Notice to the students of Urdu University distance education

The books of all students of under graduate and post graduate courses run under Directorate of Distance Education, Maulana Azad National Urdu University are being sent through post. Students are expected to receive books on their addresses till August 15.

Counseling classes will begin from August 11, while the exams of all courses of distance education will begin from November 20. Students can submit exam forms from July 1 to August 18 at their respective study centre. BA I year results have been released last week.

The patients undergoing treatment at government hospitals have to face hardships due to shortage of medicines. People from others states arrive at TB hospital located at Erragadda, the largest hospital in the state but sadly due to lack of medicines, the patients’ condition is further deteriorating. Medical officer told that supply of medicines in the TB hospital for the past one year is next to nothing they don’t have medicines to give to the patients being admitted to the hospital.

‘Not doing politics in flood-hit Uttarakhand’, says Hanumantha Rao

A day after fighting with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao on Thursday said he is not doing politics in Uttarakhand but is working honestly and added that people of all states must be safe and everyone must work together.

Rao claimed that TDP leaders were preventing the flood victims from boarding a flight arranged by the Andhra Pradesh government to Hyderabad.

IIMC to start short-term course for Urdu journalists

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) will soon start a certificate course to impart necessary skills among Urdu journalists.

In a statement released here today, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry said the decision to launch the short-term course was taken in chairmanship of Uday Kumar Varma who, as the I&B secretary, is also the chairman of the IIMC board.

At a recently held conference of Urdu editors, Information and Broadcasting minister Manish Tewari was apprised of the need to provide quality training to Urdu journalism aspirants.

Pak govt. to file appeal in Swiss court for reopening of Zardari corruption cases

The PML-N government has reportedly told the Supreme Court about its decision to file an appeal in the Swiss court for reopening of cases against President Asif Ali Zardari. Recently the Swiss prosecutors had declared Zardari ‘free of charges’ and had refused to reopen a probe into the alleged corruption case involving Zardari and his late wife Benazir Bhutto in 1990.

Facebook to develop official app for Windows 8

Software giant Microsoft has reportedly confirmed that social media website Facebook will develop its official application for its latest version of OS Windows 8. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer made the announcement at the company’s annual developers conference in San Francisco but did not provide any specific release date, CBS News reports. According to the report, a Facebook spokesperson said that the company will design the official app initially for the Windows 8 tablets likely with a fall release date.

Asian neighborhoods have substantially higher incomes and college-educated residents than the neighborhoods that whites live in, a US study has found.

Asians are found to be the fastest growing minority group in the U.S., but have been described as the least segregated minority group in the U.S.

The study released by the US2010 Project at Brown University found that Chinese and Indians are segregated almost as highly as Hispanics, and Vietnamese segregation is almost as high as that of African Americans.

Southern star Dhanush was “aghast” at the idea of endorsing a beauty soap, but actress Sonam Kapoor, his co-star in “Raanjhanaa”, managed to persuade him.

On Tuesday, the unconventional-looking hero flew into Mumbai after a flash promotional trip to Chennai to promote his new Tamil film “Maryaan”, and shot an ad for Lux with Sonam.

A source from the set said: “Initially, Dhanush who is extremely self-deprecating about his looks was aghast at the idea. ‘How can I endorse a beauty soap?’ he argued. But it was his new buddy in Mumbai Sonam who convinced Dhanush to give it try.”

19 bodies from IAF chopper crash found

Bodies of 19 military personnel who died when an Indian Air Force helicopter crashed in Uttarakhand have been found, an ITBP spokesperson said.

“Nineteen bodies have been recovered,” Indo-Tibetan Border Police spokesman Deepak Pandey told IANS. Ten of the bodies have been brought to Gauchar, which is being used as an air base for rescue operations.

Pakistan SC adjourns Musharraf case

The Supreme Court of Pakistan Thursday adjourned for an indefinite period the hearing in the treason case against former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Dawn reported on its website.

The move was taken to hold consultations over the setting up of a special court to hear the case against the former president, the report said.

The apex court rejected a plea to arrest Musharraf, citing that no formal charges against the former president had been placed before the court.

More than 58 percent of U.S. parents have admitted that they use a tech gadget to “babysit” or occupy their little one, a recent study has revealed.

Two accused in Karnataka gang-rape arrested

Police Thursday arrested two of the three men accused of abducting and gang-raping a medical student here June 20, while a hunt is on for the third culprit.

“We have cracked the case by arresting Yogesh and Harish and rushed a team to nab the third suspect (Anand) who escaped to Goa,” Udupi Superintendent of Police M.B. Boralingaiah told IANS.

(Siasat News): A woman was brutally murdered by some unidentified persons in Alwal. As per the details, K Mungi, 28, was the wife of one K Ravi, resident of Bolarum and both were living in the slum area.

Last night, some unidentified persons entered their slum and killed Mungi with boulders. Though police has registered a case but the preliminary investigations also took her husband in the list of suspicious people, as he might be person behind her killing.

Mandela still critical, president cancels Mozambique trip

South African President Jacob Zuma cancelled a scheduled trip to Mozambique after visiting former leader Nelson Mandela, who remains critically ill in a hospital here, BBC reported.

Zuma was due to attend a regional summit in the Mozambican capital Maputo Thursday, but decided to cancel his trip.

President Zuma was briefed by doctors who were doing everything possible to ensure 94-year-old Mandela’s well-being, an official statement said.
