Thief steals over $900,000 from Moscow bank

A thief has stolen 30 million rubles (around $940,000) from a bank in Moscow, police said.The suspect Saturday entered a branch of Sberbank, the Russian state retail bank, deactivated the alarm system and left the building some 10 minutes later with a huge bag of money, video recordings showed.

The robber also took the keys from the bank’s safe, police said.

Investigators believe a bank employee was the suspect’s accomplice, who duplicated the keys and told him how to deactivate the alarm system.

A 6.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Nantou county in Taiwan Sunday, Xinhua reported.

The epicentre, with a depth of nine kilometres, was monitored at about 23.9 degrees north latitude and 120.9 degrees east longitude.

Turkish protesters attack PM office, 7 injured

Beijing, Jun 2 (Xinhua-ANI): About 5,000 protesters attacked Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan””s office with stones in Istanbul on Saturday night, leaving at least seven policemen injured. An eyewitness told Xinhua that fury protesters attacked the office of Erdogan in Besiktas on the European shore of the Bosporus and some windows were broken. Special police forces rushed to the scene and used tear gas and high-pressured water gun to disperse the protesters.

8 in 10 Brits support arming rebels in Syria, says poll

Eight in ten people in Britain believe that the government must facilitate the rebels with arms, a new survey has revealed.

The poll results have come amid Britain’s support for lifting the arm ban on Syrian regime, the Guardian reports.

Al-Qaeda plot to use and smuggle chemical weapons foiled by Iraqi intelligence

Iraq”s military intelligence authorities have arrested five men, linked to Al- Qaeda, for manufacturing chemical weapons and plotting to smuggle them to Europe and North America. The military intelligence authorities monitored the activities of the men for three months in which three workshops that manufactured chemical agents were uncovered, reports BBC.

The chemical agents included sarin and mustard gas, and these agents could be used on a target from a safe distance of 1.5km. Military intelligence authorities have also recovered remote controlled toy planes from the workshops.

Wikileaks employee claims Assange adopted ‘once despised’ behaviour
