New Delhi, June 2 (ANI): Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Atul Kumar Anjan, has alleged that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is the centre for corruption.

“BCCI has become a centre of corruption and a group of corrupts. In such a situation if we talk about IPL then Rajiv Shukla has resigned from the post of the commissioner not the BCCI and Arun Jaitley (BCCI vice president and BJP leader) has also not resigned. They are trying to show their importance after the media exposed the entire scandal and brought the truth before the people,” said Anjan.

Early detection would allow physicians to alter treatment and take steps to prevent these complications—the leading cause of death for patients on ECMO.

Justice Aftab Alam likely to be new TDSAT Chairman

The Telecom Ministry is believed to have cleared the name of retired Supreme Court judge Aftab Alam for appointment as chairman of tribunal TDSAT.

“We have approved the file and send it to ACC (Appointments Committee of the Cabinet),” sources in the ministry said.

The telecom tribunal, which has a sanctioned strength of three members, one Chairman and two members, has been without head after Chairman Justice S B Sinha retired in November, 2012.

Iraq busts Al-Qaida cell suspected of plotting chemical attacks

Iraq”s Defense Ministry said on Saturday that it has busted an Al-Qaida cell that allegedly had worked to produce poisonous gas to stage chemical attacks home and abroad. The Iraqi military intelligence arrested the cell”s five members after monitoring them for three months, Defense Ministry spokesman Mohammed al-Askari told a press conference. The group built two facilities in Baghdad and a third one in an undisclosed province to produce sarin and mustard gas for making chemical weapons, Askari said.

Irish woman raped in Kolkata

A young Irish woman was allegedly raped by a man in his house in Kalighat area.

The woman, aged 21, filed a police complaint yesterday alleging that she met the accused, Sujay Mitra, on May 31 in a pub here where she was celebrating her birthday, police said.

Later, Mitra allegedly took the girl to his home and raped her, police said.

Following the complaint, police today arrested Mitra.

“We have arrested Mitra. We have started an investigation,” said an official of the Kalighat police station.

Nomination papers for the offices of speaker and deputy speaker are to be delivered Sunday, Geo TV reported.

After Monday’s secret ballot, outgoing Speaker Fehmida Mirza will administer the oath to the new speaker.

161 killed in 56 bomb blasts in Pakistan in May

At least 161 people were killed and 652 injured in 56 bomb blasts as militants escalated attacks across Pakistan in May when the country held elections, according to official statistics.

Among the 56, four were suicide attacks that killed 40 people and injured 143 others, reports Xinhua.

After the Pakistani government set the general elections on May 11, the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups told the public to keep away from political gatherings.

Kejriwal to contest against Dikshit

Activist-turned-politician and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal will take on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the Delhi assembly elections, AAP said Sunday.

“Kejirwal will contest directly against Dikshit. We have taken the decision after a meeting of our party’s volunteers,” AAP leader Manish Sisodia told IANS.

Decision on Telangana this month: Azad

The Congress will take a decision on the Telangana issue this month, party general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad said Sunday.

He told reporters in the national capital that the party would hold some more consultations before taking the decision.

Azad, who is incharge of the party affairs in Andhra Pradesh, advised party leaders from Telangana to wait for the decision.

Referring to two MPs and some others who quit the Congress, he said these leaders were more interested in posts for themselves and their family members.

Online counselling for PG seats

Counselling for admission to post graduate courses in government medical colleges will now be held online, officials said.

The directorate general of health services will hold counselling for admission to MD, MS and PG diploma and MDS courses under the all India quota seats in government medical colleges June 4-24.

The seats remaining vacant after that will be surrendered to the state governments for filling them under the state quota, they said. adding the last date for admission to the courses has been extended to July 31.

Three Afghan Taliban interlocutors are on a fence-mending mission to Iran as part of an effort to remove misunderstandings, according to a media report today.

Two Afghan Taliban officials confirmed that three of the group’s leaders – believed to be drawn from a negotiating team based in Qatar – are holding talks with Iranian officials, The Express Tribune reported.

A JD(U) leader’s relative was among two persons shot dead by police in an encounter on NH-31 in Bihar’s Patna district, police said today.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Raj Kishore Singh said the encounter took place last night when police, acting on a
tip off that dacoits were fleeing, chased a vehicle and were fired upon by its passengers.

The police retaliated and shot dead the two persons, one of whom was identified as JD(U) MLA Shyam Bihari Singh’s
relative Raju Singh.

While most Americans say religion is losing influence in the country, 75 per cent say American society would be better off if more Americans were devout.

According to a new Gallup survey, over three-quarters of Americans (77 per cent) say religion is losing its influence on American life, while 20 per cent say religion’s influence is increasing.

These represent Americans’ most negative evaluations of the impact of religion since 1970, although similar to the views measured in recent years, Gallup said.

Advani backs Chauhan and not Modi

Man attacks ex-wife’s lover with axe

A decorator in the Italian island of Sicily attacked his ex-wife’s new partner with an axe, almost severing the man’s right arm.The incident took place in Gela city.

The decorator, Crocifisso Di Gennaro, said to be consumed with jealousy towards his love rival Alessandro Pennata, forced the man’s car off the road near Gela’s cemetery by ramming it repeatedly with his own vehicle.

As the two men got out of their cars, Di Gennaro raised an axe over his head and charged at Pennata, bringing it down on his right arm, which the man had raised to defend himself.
