Telangana possible only through BJP, not TRS: Nagam

Nagar Kurnool MLA Nagam Janardana Reddy said Telangana would be possible only through the BJP and not the TRS.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, he said while TRS has to achieve Telangana, BJP would give it, as it was going to come back to power. He said it was strange that the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao was stating that every one should join the Telangana movement, by joining the TRS and voting for it.
Nagam asserted that the Congress party would not concede Telangana. He has expressed confidence that the BJP-led NDA would come to power in 2014 and create the Telangana state.

DL’s removal was unfortunate: Palvai

Terming the removal of DL Ravindra Reddy from the State Cabinet as unfortunate, Rajya Sabha MP Palvai Govardhan Reddy on Sunday criticised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for taking the decision in anger.

Talking to reporters here, Palvai said that it was not the tradition of Congress Government to sack minister although it was okay to see ministers resign. He said a wrong approach was adopted in removing Ravindra Reddy from the post. He said the decision was unilateral and DL was not even served a show cause notice to enable him to explain his version.

DG-Dial 100 Centre receives over 8100 emergency calls

The D.G Dial-100 Command and Control Centre received and acted upon as many as 8,122 emergency calls in the month of May.

According to Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, the Dial-100 Centre received 2,963 calls related to accidents, 54 for Acts disrupting public peace, 1,665 for Bodily offences, 534 for Offences against women, 256 of Property Offences, 379 of suicides and 2,271 for other offences.

Botsa to visit Delhi on Monday

Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana will visit the national capital on Monday.

According to sources, the PCC chief is likely to meet the Congress High Command to discuss the latest political situation in the State, especially the sacking of DL Ravindra Reddy from the State Cabinet. Sources say that Botsa is unhappy with the way Ravindra Reddy was suspended from the cabinet. Local bodies election notification before Assembly session

Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy on Sunday informed that the notification for the local bodies elections would be issued before the beginning of second phase of budget session of State Legislative Assembly.

Ocean powered wind turbines may harbour limitless electricity source

Melbourne, Jun. 2 (ANI): Nine out of every 10 people – aged under 30 – suffer from “nomophobia,” the fear of having no mobile phone, according to a survey.

The survey was conducted by Cisco and its chief technology officer Kevin Bloch said that it was happening subconsciously, and 20 percent people texted while driving.

The survey also found that these people had addiction to their smartphones and became anxious when it went missing, the Courier Mail reported.

IIT-M develops affordable eye screening technology

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has developed a computing technology which would help eye doctors screen patients faster and provide them immediate diagnostic solutions.

The software ‘Eye PAC’ has been developed by Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC), a unit of the Research
and Development wing of the institution.

The technology would extract clear information from eyes and in turn help screen a large number of patients and send only the needy ones for further treatment.

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher does not like being surrounded by bouncers as he feels it deprives him of the love and warmth of fans.

The 58-year-old ‘Saaransh’ actor was recently in the capital to perform his autobiographical play “Kucch Bhi Ho
Sakta Hai” and he said he felt ‘claustrophobic’ rather than safe around bouncers.

A transporter was shot dead near Badambadi bus terminus here even as city police is hunting for those involved in Friday’s firing incident at Mangalabag.

Minor girl gang-raped in Delhi, three arrested

A 17-year-old girl was kidnapped and gang-raped by three men here, police said Sunday. Her attackers have been arrested.

The incident was reported from west Delhi’s Nangloi area Sunday morning.

Anwar, 30, a property dealer, Sandeep, 32, a mobile shop owner, and Anish, 35, a guard, were arrested Sunday from different hideouts in Delhi, said a police official.

11 Taliban, four Afghan security men killed

Eleven Taliban militants and four security personnel were killed in a clash between Taliban and the security forces in Afghanistan’s Nuristan province, an official said Sunday.

“Units of Afghan National Army and police raided Taliban hideouts in Kamdish district Saturday afternoon and the operations, which ended this morning, left 11 Taliban rebels dead,” army spokesman Mohammad Haroon told Xinhua.

He also admitted that an Afghan soldier and three policemen were killed in the conflict which lasted for several hours in the district, 180 km east of the Afghan capital of Kabul.
