Buzz has it that the Dabangg superstar might shake a leg with his former ladylove Katrina Kaif in an item song.

The song will apparently feature in director Sawan Kumar Tak’s untitled film, which will be a sequel to 1983 super-hit ‘Souten’.

And the rumour mongers say that the veteran filmmaker has approached both Khan and Kaif for the song.

Pakistan takes lessons from India in combating polio

Earlier this week, Pakistan’s polio campaign suffered a major setback when a volunteer in the vaccination campaign was killed and her colleague wounded in a militant attack near Peshawar.

Pakistan is taking oral vaccination tips from India, which has been polio-free for over two years, and wants to replicate its success story, the head of the neighbouring country’s polio programme says.

“But what hinders Pakistan in containing the dreaded virus is insurgency, violence and illiteracy,” Pakistan National Polio Plus Committee Chairman Aziz Memon said in an interview during a visit here.

Tourists released after being held over porn shoot in Egypt

Police in Egypt have released a group of tourists who had been earlier detained for allegedly shooting a pornographic movie in the popular Red Sea resort of Hurghada.

A group of 10 naked men and women were noticed Saturday on the Giftun Islands, a popular excursion from Hurghada, by a patrol officer who thought they were shooting a porn scene.

The suspects, who came from Georgia, were taken to a police department.

Syrian army seizes Sarin gas from rebels

The Syrian army has seized two cylinders of nerve agent Sarin in an operation in Hama city, Press TV reported.

The containers were found in militant hideouts in al-Faraieh area, which has been the scene of fighting between troops loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and the opposition armed groups, the TV channel said.

Sarin is a colourless, odourless liquid gas which causes respiratory arrest and death.

The poisonous agent has been classified as a weapon of mass destruction in UN Resolution 687, Press TV said.

Activists plant potatoes in potholes in Russia

A group of activists in the central Russian city of Yaroslavl have planted potatoes in street potholes across the city “to see if these potatoes will grow sooner than the city authorities repair the roads”.

Road construction and repair in Russia is notoriously inefficient, with funds allocated for road maintenance often embezzled or misused.

The quality of the road surface in many parts of the country remains extremely poor, even when highways are frequently repaired.

Teenage girl kidnapped, gang-raped while out on evening walk

A teenage girl, who went out for an evening walk, was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped in a moving car by three men in north-west Delhi, police said today. The incident took place in Nangloi area late last night and the trio — Anwar (30), a property dealer, Sandeep (32), a mobile shop owner, and Anish (35), a guard, were arrested today. The girl had gone out for a walk after dinner when the trio kidnapped her in a car and raped her, police said.

Saudi Arabia says 3 more die from new virus

Saudi Arabia has reported that three more people have died from a new respiratory virus related to SARS, bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 24.

The Ministry of Health said today the three deceased were among 38 infected in the kingdom with the respiratory virus called MERS.

It says two of the three whose deaths were reported today were suffering from chronic diseases.

The World Health Organization said the new germ was first seen in the Middle East and that it had killed about 800 people in a global epidemic in 2003.

Mujahid kin threaten fast-unto-death, want probe report out

Family members of terror-accused Khalid Mujahid, who died in police custody, have demanded that a report by a panel which probed his arrest be made public by June 6, failing which they would go on a fast-unto-death.

“If the government does not make the report public by June 6, then we and our sympathisers will start a fast-unto-death in front of the Vidhan Bhawan in Lucknow,” said Zaheer Alam Falahi, Mujahid’s uncle.

Mujahid, an accused in a serial blasts case, died on May 18 while being taken to jail after a court hearing in Faizabad.

“Slumdog Millionaire” star Frieda Pinto announced that she and her co-star James France will not return to reprise their roles in the sequel of “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”.

The 28-year-old actress, who played a primatologist, Caroline Aranha, in the 2011 film will not be part of the “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”, reported Digitalspy.

Kaneria wants to play in T20 tournaments during Ramazan

Pakistan’s troubled leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has sought permission from the PCB to play in local T20 tournaments, held in the month of Ramazan.

Kaneria has also told the Board that he is ready to face any inquiry and that the PCB and its legal team should take up his case with the England and Wales Cricket Board.

“The way things stand I see no future for myself in cricket because my case is being delayed and I am not getting justice from the ECB,” he told PTI.

BJP youth wing to target youths in rural areas

With an eye on upcoming polls, the youth wing of BJP has planed to target the rural and unskilled youth who are most affected by unemployment and inflation.

The decision was taken at the first National Executive meeting of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha which concluded here. The meeting also resolved to reach out to youths between the age group of 18 to 25 years across the country.

Taliban militants kill principal of govt high school in Pak

The principal of a state-run high school was killed by Taliban fighters in a region near Peshawar city of northwest Pakistan, according to a media report today.

Dozens of heavily armed militants entered the home of Haji Rehman at Pastawana in Frontier Region Peshawar last night and shot him.

Rehman died instantly, local residents were quoted as saying in a report on the website of The Express Tribune.

It was not clear why Rehman was targeted.

Local residents said he had developed differences with the militants and this led to his death.

Female Israeli soldiers punished for racy photos

The Israeli military today said that it has disciplined a group of female soldiers who posed for photos in underwear and combat gear and posted the images on Facebook.

The incident was the latest in a string of episodes involving young Israeli soldiers on social media that have drawn reprimand from the military.
