Police Narsingi found a dead body of unidentified Muslim woman, aged between 20 to 25 years, in a suitcase. She was killed before setting ablaze. The body could not be identified; however a ring was recovered from her finger with an inscription of Quranic ayah. Inspector police Narsingi requested Mr. Amer Ali Khan news editor Siasat for the burial.

‘Asif Ali Zardari resigned to his fate’

President Asif Ali Zardari, whose party was trounced in the General Elections, is “resigned to his fate”, a Pakistani daily said on Tuesday.

In his first talk with journalists since the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) suffered a humiliating defeat in the 2013 elections, Zardari said last week that he had no intention of trying to run for a second term in office.

Special package for northeast, hill states: Sonia Gandhi

India should take seven crore families out of poverty in the next 10 years, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi said on Monday, while announcing that the government was preparing a special package for the northeast and hill states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

“In the next 10 years we have to bring seven crore families out of poverty. This is not an easy job,” Gandhi said at a function to mark the Ajeevika Diwas in Delhi.

Incident involving Pak diplomat: Two arrested

A woman and her nephew were arrested today in connection with a “minor brawl” with a Pakistani diplomat and his driver following a “freak accident” in south Delhi, police said.

Roshni and her nephew Rohit were apprehended after a case of rash and negligent driving was registered against them in connection with the incident in Ber Sarai last evening.

Scientists gather in Galapagos Islands to discuss evolution

More than a dozen scientists from the Americas and Europe gathered in Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands to discuss evolution in the place that inspired 19th-century British naturalist Charles Darwin to develop his theory of the evolution of species.

Canadian province seeks to attract European investors

Investissement Quebec, the economic development agency of the government of the Canadian province of Quebec, is working to attract European investment to the province, billing the eastern region as a gateway to North America’s more than 460 million consumers.

The Canadian province is focusing on agribusiness, infrastructure, information technology, especially mobile applications, and health care, Investissement Quebec European business development chief Hugo T. Lacroix told EFE.

Two arrested after their vehicle hit a Pakistani envoy’s car

The Delhi Police have arrested a woman and her nephew, who were travelling on the two-wheeler that hit a Pakistani envoy’s car on Monday. Both have been accused of rash and negligent driving, among other charges.

The action came after Pakistan issued a strong statement seeking a thorough probe into the incident. Trouble began after Pakistan’s First Secretary Zirgham Raza’s car hit a woman and her nephew on a two-wheeler and an argument broke out.

Woman sets herself, daughters on fire in UP village

A woman in an Uttar Pradesh village set herself and her five daughters on fire after she was taunted and beaten up by her husband for not bearing a son, police said Tuesday.

The tragedy took place late Monday in Gonda district’s Diwli village, about 120 km from here.

Neighbours told police that Prema Devi, 38, was brutally assaulted by her husband Jagdamba Prasad Lodh for not bearing a boy. She was so badly beaten that she could walk.

RTI objectives can’t be allowed to run riot: Khurshid

As the Central Information Commission (CIC) Monday held that political parties are answerable under the Right to Information Act, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said it is important to “keep practical control of RTI objectives as they can’t be allowed to run riot”.

Answering a query on the CIC’s ruling on the sidelines of an event Monday evening, Khurshid said there is a “logic of the RTI, which is periodically reflected in its orders. That logic of the RTI act would be gradually tested at all levels including at levels of the courts”.

Democracy has more right answers than any system: Khurshid

Describing democracy as the most appropriate form of governance, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on Monday said it may not be the “right answer”, but it provides “best answer” than any other system can give.

“Voice has to be heard, hands have to be waived and the votes have to be cast, point of view has to be expressed. There will be disagreements, differences. There will be contrasts and there will be conflicts, but at the end of the day as we all hear, democracy is the best answer.

US expresses concern over violence in Turkey

The United States expressed concerns over the excessive use of force against peaceful protesters in Turkey.

“The United States has serious concerns about the reports of excessive use of force by police and large numbers of injuries and damage to property,” said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.

“We call on these events to be investigated and to urge all parties to refrain from provoking violence,” he said on Monday.

Egypt court convicts man for insulting president

A court in Cairo has found activist Ahmed Douma guilty of insulting Egypt’s Islamist president Mohammed Morsi and handed him a six-month suspended sentence.

Douma was also convicted of circulating false news on a TV programme.

The court said such acts “undermine state security and terrorise people”, according to Al-Ahram Online.

The court set bail for Douma at 550 euros.

He is the first prominent critic of Morsi to be convicted on such charges. He was detained April 30, after he called Morsi a killer and a criminal.

Catholics should emulate the Virgin Mary’s ability to take decisions by trusting god, according to Pope Francis.

“Sometimes we know what we have to do, but we lack the courage to do it. Let us learn from Mary how to make decisions, trusting in the Lord,” Francis wrote on the microblogging website Twitter.

Russia’s tests new n-sub

Russia’s Project 885 Yasen-class attack submarine, the Severodvinsk, has embarked on its latest series of official tests in the White Sea.

Yekaterina Pilikina, spokeswoman at the Sevmash shipyard, the submarine’s manufacturer, said the tests started several days ago, but did not give details on their time frame or scope.

The multirole attack submarine has a submerged displacement of 13,800 tonnes, length of 119 metres, speed of 31 knots, and can dive to 600 metres. It has a crew of 90, including 32 officers.

More banks can help improve customer service: RBI deputy

Amid the lengthy clarifications issued by the central bank on new bank licences, Reserve Bank Deputy Governor K C Chakrabarty today said customer service in the banking industry will be better if more banks come in as it will drive competition. “Why we are suffering is that we have not allowed new banks to come in. If new banks come in, then many of our problems on the customer service front will be solved,” Chakrabarty said addressing an ‘open house’ organised by Moneylife here.

Saudi Arabia launches women-only sports centre

A pioneering “women-only” sports centre has opened in Saudi Arabia’s eastern city of Khobar.

The sports centre plans to recruit foreigners to work there, the al-Watan daily reported.

The centre will offer sports like karate, weight-loss courses and special courses for children.

Ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia in May gave the go-ahead for private sports lessons for girls.

Saudi Arabia was one of the three countries fielding female athletes for the first time at the London 2012 Olympics but only a minority of Saudi women practise sports regularly.

Shankar Rao blames CM for leaders’ exit from Congress

Divorce rate on the rise among Malaysian Indians

Divorce among ethnic Indians in Malaysia is rapidly rising and if the trend continues, it is feared the community could be plagued with social problems.

The number of divorces within the minority Indian community has risen to about 5,000 a year currently.

Currently 5,000 divorce cases were being reported annually in the community compared to just 200 till a few years ago, S V Lingam, head of a Tamil social group said.
