Bill Clinton paid $500,000 for 45-minute speech in Israel

Washington, June 4 (ANI): Former US President Bill Clinton has been paid 500,000 dollars for a 45-minute speech in Israel honoring Israeli President Shimon Peres’ 90th birthday.

The Times of Israel reported the non-profit Jewish National Fund gave the amount to Clinton for the speech, which he will be giving at the Peres Academic Center in Rehovot on June 17.

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet accepts Nimesh Commission report

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday accepted the Nimesh Commission report which probed the arrest of two Muslim youths in 2007 on terror charges.

The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here today.

“The report was accepted by the Cabinet meeting today,” Yadav told media after the meeting here.

New York, June 4 (ANI): EBay’s auction for lunch with billionaire Warren Buffet has reached upto 160,000 dollars and counting.

The annual charity auction on EBay will end on June 7, the New York Daily News reports.

According to the report, the auction had profited nearly 3.5 million dollars from an anonymous winner last year.

Railway bribery case: CBI questions Pawan Kumar Bansal as a witness

Former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as a witness on Tuesday in connection with the recent railway bribery case.

Bansal is under the scanner for his role in the appointment of suspended railway board member (Staff) Mahesh Kumar for which his nephew Vijay Singla was caught allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 90 lakh.

Bansal had to resign from the Union Cabinet in the aftermath of the case involving his nephew, who is alleged to have been operating from his official residence.

The extension of judicial custody was effected after Delhi Police informed Kumar that it has invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) against all of them, as they were allegedly facilitating the illegal acts of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel.

Night shift workers likelier to have Type 2 diabetes

Night Shift workers, who work at night are at an increased risk for developing Type 2 diabetes, a new study has suggested.

The results showed that peak glucose levels were 16 percent higher during one night of simulated shift work, compared with one day of a simulated daytime work schedule.

Compared with the daytime protocol, insulin levels during the night shift protocol were 40 to 50 percent higher at 80 minutes and 90 minutes after a meal.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) suspended ex-cricket captain Mohammad Ashraful after he confessed to fixing matches in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Ashraful confessed before the International Cricket Council”s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).

Ashraful”s suspension comes days after the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that it is probing allegations of match-fixing in Bangladeshi cricket, and even went so far as to name Ashraful as among those cricketers being questioned.

A 13-year-old Indian girl living in UK has scored a mindboggling 162 on a Mensa IQ test, which is the highest score possible for someone who is under 18 years of age.

According to British Mensa, the incredible score has put Neha Ramu in the top 1 per cent of brightest people in the country, the Gulf News reported.

Experts believe that the achievement means that Neha has intelligence higher than scientist Albert Einstein and physicist Stephen Hawking.

Wearing high heels could be bad for your health

High heels may increase the risk of a woman suffering from serious medical conditions, which includes arthritis, muscle damage and trapped nerves, a study has suggested.

According to a study conducted by The College of Podiatry, women start feeling the pain after wearing the heels for just one hour and six minutes, on an average and a fifth of them feel the burn after walking for just 10 minutes.

The study also found that almost 50 percent of women have suffered from foot problems and a third have worn heels they knew did not fit simply because they looked good.
