Shilpa Shetty spent money on betting in one IPL match

Delhi Police on Thursday said that Raj Kundra, the co-owner of Rajasthan Royals, had admitted to placing bets on his own team in the IPL over the last three years, a charge denied by his wife Shilpa Shetty.

Police said his film star wife, a part owner of the Jaipur-based team, had also bet on at least one match. This was revealed by Ahmedabad-based industrialist Umesh Goenka, said to be Kundra’s business partner who acted as his bookie.

Cut in Green Category Accommodation of Haj Pilgrims

As per the information received from C.G.I., Jeddah, large scale demolitions took place near Haram sharif in Makkah Mukarramah in the areas which were traditionally occupied by the Indian Pilgrims. CM directs officials to increase electricity supply

The Chief Minister Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy today directed for restoration of maximum possible power supply to all sectors by reducing the load relief.

Due to several measures taken by the State Government, the Chief Minister today directed the Officials to reduce the Electricity Load Relief and increase power supply to all sectors. It may be stated here that the demand has also come down due to fall in temperature and onset of monsoon.

Legal Status For ‘Bangaru Thalli’: Anam

‘Bangaru Thalli’ programme will be approved in the State Cabinet meeting to be held on Friday and then legal status would be created for it in the Assembly meetings.

Danam Says No Opponents To Kiran In Cabinet Now

The Labour Minister D Nagender has stated today that there were no opponents to the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in the State Cabinet now. Dr Shankar rao was removed from the Ministry earlier and Dr D L Ravindra Reddy recently.

Vijaysai Reddy special prisoner

The CBI Special Court has ruled that Vijyasai Reddy should be treated as a special prisoner.

The verdict was pronounced after he petitioned with the court yesterday to accord the special status. He surrendered before the court after his interim bail was cancelled.

Shinde’s charges about ISI unwarranted, says Pakistan

Pakistan Thursday termed as “baseless and unwarranted” the remarks of Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde about ISI fanning Sikh militancy, and said that all issues between the two countries should be sorted out by constructive dialogue.

An official release from the Pakistan High Commission here said this while referring to media reports about Shinde’s remarks that Sikh youths were being trained in Inter-Services Intelligence facilities in Pakistan.

Newly-wed cricketer Ankeet Chavan returns to jail, seeks bail

Rajasthan Royals cricketer Ankeet Chavan, arrested in the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing scandal, Thursday surrendered before a Delhi court after his June 2 marriage and was sent to judicial custody till June 18.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma sent Chavan to judicial custody till June 18, after he surrendered on the expiry of his one-week interim bail.

Chavan was earlier granted interim bail by a Delhi court till June 6 for his marriage in Mumbai and was told to surrender after the wedding.

Andhra reduces duration of power cuts

The Andhra Pradesh government has reduced the duration of power cuts as the onset of monsoon has brought down demand.

The electricity cuts in Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Warangal, district headquarters and corporations were lifted. The major cities were having daily two-hour cuts.

The authorities have also increased power supply in rural areas from present 12 hours to 18 hours. The duration of cuts will be reduced from 12 to six hours.

Delhi girl gang-raped in Ghaziabad

A 15-year-old girl from Delhi was allegedly gang-raped and filmed by two men in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad town, police said Thursday.

The girl, a resident of the capital’s Pandav Nagar area, was on May 31 offered a joy ride on a bike by her neighbour Fakira, who took her to a house in Ghaziabad where his nephew Pradeep was already present.

The victim in her complaint filed with Delhi Police said she was given a drink laced with sedatives after which she felt dizzy. The accused took turns to rape her and film the act on a cell phone, a police officer said, citing her complaint.

Plea filed to make PM, Sonia witnesses against Shinde

A Delhi court was petitioned Thursday for its nod to summon Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi as witnesses in a case filed against Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde for his alleged “Hindu terror” remarks made at Jaipur.

The complainant, right to information (RTI) activist Vivek Garg, also sought to call Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar and Chandrabhan of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress as witnesses in the case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Harun Pratap asked Garg to explain why was it relevant to summon the prime minister and Sonia Gandhi as witnesses.

Sanjay Patel is new BCCI secretary

Sanjay Patel has been appointed the new secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, the board’s interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya announced here Thursday. A new treasurer would be named in a “day or two”.

The posts had fallen vacant after Sanjay Jagdale quit as secretary and Ajay Shirke as treasurer last Friday in protest against cricket board chief N. Srinivasan refusing to step down after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was arrested for allegedly betting in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
