Pudding

Ingredients
Cooked rice / Old bread pieces/ Old cake pieces- 1 cup
Eggs – 3 (beaten)
Milk – 2 1/2 cups (or use coconut milk)
sugar – 3/4 cup
salt – a pinch (optional)
vanilla essence – 1 tsp
Lemon Zest – 1 tsp (optional)
Raisins – 1/2 cup
Nutmeg powder- 1 tsp
Cinnamon powder – 1 tsp

Rice Pudding

Method
1. Mix all the ingrediants in a large mixing bowl.
2. Pour into a buttered baking dish.
3. Place the baking dish in a big baking pan filled with water.
4. Bake for 45 minutes in the oven preheated to 350 degrees.

Khaman Dhokla (Instant Dhokla)

Ingredients
Batch I
Gram flour(Besan) – 1 1/2 cup
Sugar – 3-4 tsp
Oil – 1 tblsp
Citric acid – 1/2 tsp
soda-bi-carb( Baking Soda) – 1/2 tsp
Salt – to taste
Lemon juice – 3-4 drops

Batch II
Oil – 1 tblsp
Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
Sesame seeds – 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida – a pinch
Curry leaves – 5-6
Water – 1/2 cup
Sugar – 1 tsp
Cilantro – for garnish
Grated coconut – for garnish
Sev – for garnish

Method
1. Mix all the ingredients from batch I in a bowl with water enough to make a thick paste.
2. Blend it well with a hand blender or with hand.

Murgi Kosha

Ingredients
Chicken – 500 gms
Onion – 500 gms (chopped)
Ginger garlic paste – 2 tblsp
Garlic – 10 cloves
Chilly Paste – 1 tblsp
Tomatoes – 2 (chopped)
Green/Red Chillies – 10-12
Turmeric Powder – 2 tsp
Cumin Powder – 1 tsp
Chilly Powder – 1 tsp
Mustard Oil – 1 cup
Curd – 1/2 cup
Salt – to taste

Method
1. Wash chicken pieces and apply some oil, salt and turmeric powder on it. Let it marinate for half an hour.
2. Heat the remaining oil in a kadai and fry the onions till golden brown.
3. Next add the garlic cloves, 5-6 green chillies and tomatoes.

Initiative launched in London to save Indian elephant

A pair of life-size floral elephants was unveiled in the heart of London to mark the launch a new initiative to save the Indian elephant.

Elephant Family, a charity founded by travel writer and conservationist Mark Shand, has joined hands with another London charity Habitat for Humanity for the Animal Ark programme to help raise funds to protect endangered Indian elephants in their natural habitat.

Chidambaram to inaugurate annual conference of Income Tax personnel

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram will inaugurate the 29th annual conference of Chief Commissioners and Directors General of Income Tax here on Tuesday.

The two-day conference is being organised by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) at Vigyan Bhawan here on May 28th and 29th.

Telugu Desam Party on Monday stressed that it had stuck to its stand, as announced in October 2008, on the contentious Telangana statehood issue.

Bill Clinton’s senior adviser robbed by kids

Bill Clinton’s tough senior adviser, Justin Cooper, was attacked by two young kids in broad daylight in Paris, on Wednesday.

Cooper, who served as the former US president’s “body man” and most recently special adviser since Clinton left the office, was in France when his boss was in Paris for an AIDS conference, the New York Post reported.

Cooper was reportedly withdrawing money across the street from the historic Hotel George V just off the Champs-Elysees, at the time of the attack.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who arrived here on Monday evening on a three-day visit to Japan, said there is enough scope for further strengthening the ties between New Delhi and Tokyo.

“India and Japan have a social and strategic relationship in all areas. There is enough scope for further cementing our ties,” Dr. Singh told mediapersons on his arrival here.

Pakistani Taliban issue fresh threat to kill ”Satan” Musharraf

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has issued a fresh threat to assassinate former military ruler and president Pervez Musharraf, who is currently facing a barrage of legal cases in the country. TTP spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan issued a fresh warning in a video message posted on Taliban website Umar Media, saying that they will soon punish the Satan to death for his “wicked deed”, reports the Daily Times. Musharraf went to the top of the Taliban hit list after ordering the army in 2007 to storm the Red Mosque in Islamabad.

Six bookies arrested in Goa for betting on IPL final

Six bookies were arrested Monday by Goa Police for accepting bets on Indian Premium League’s (IPL) final match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings held Sunday night.

Police Inspector Nilesh Rane said that over 40 mobile phones and half a dozen laptops were seized from the arrested bookies along with cash (not specified).

The arrests followed a raid at a rental holiday home in Candolim, a popular beach village, 15 km from here.

“They had been camping in Goa for about 45 days to collect bets for the IPL,” Rane said.

Tendulkar fans show grief on his retirement on Facebook, Twitter

With Sachin Tendulkar announcing his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL), there was a mad scramble among his legions of fans on social networking sites. Many seemed heartbroken while some urged the master batsmen to reconsider the decision.

A downcast fan wrote on Tendulkar’s Facebook fan page: “No IPL without Sachin.”

Another Tendulkar follower posted: “We will miss you God.”

But there were others who wanted the master blaster to return to the 22-yard action in next year’s IPL.

VC Shukla’s condition critical but stable: Doctors

The condition of senior Congress leader VC Shukla, who received bullet injuries in Saturday’s Maoist attack, was today “critical but stable”.

Dr Naresh Trehan, the Chairman of Medanta Hospital, said 84-year-old Shukla was critical and his recovery will take a little long due to his advanced age.

“He is critical but stable. He is on ventilator and the dialysis is going on. We are trying to remove the toxins. He will be in the ICU for long. Treatment will go on for long due to the age factor,” Trehan said.

He said there was an intestinal injury and toxicity in the body.

IPL spot-fixing a corruption issue: BJP

BJP National General Secretary Rajiv Pratap Rudy today said spot-fixing in IPL cricket is an issue of corruption and what has happened over the past few days was very unfortunate.

“It is an issue of corruption and betrayal,” he told reporters here. “It is good that government is contemplating a law to deal with betting and fixing,” he said.

However, he wondered whether the IPL corruption was overshadowing national corruption such as Coalgate and the 2-G scam.

MHA asks states to revamp security of VVIPs

In the wake of the attack on Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh, the Home Ministry Monday asked all Maoists-hit states to revamp security of political workers and ensure that political activities are not affected by any violence.

In an advisory to Naxal-hit states, the Home Ministry said security of political leaders– both national and regional parties– should be reviewed thoroughly and, if necessary, their protection should be upgraded.

Antony inaugurates Sukhoi airbase in Thanjavur

Strengthening India’s presence over the Indian Ocean region, Defence Minister AK Antony Monday inaugurated the first fighter aircraft base here in southern India where the IAF is stationing its most lethal Su-30MKI combat aircraft.

“Thanjavur airbase is going to be another strategically important airbase of the Indian Air Force. By stationing our frontline fighter aircraft Sukhoi at Thanjavur, IAF can protect vast area of interests,” Antony said after inaugurating the airbase.

Hulk Hogan hospitalized after burning hand

Hulk Hogan was rushed to a hospital in Florida on Sunday after he suffered bad burns to his hand.

The 59 year old, who got injured after a radiator malfunctioned, was admitted to the emergency room of Tampa General Hospital, Contactmusic reported.

Hogan posted a number of shots of his injured hand on his Twitter page.

One of the pictures showed a doctor treating his swollen fingers and another showed the top layer of skin burned off several digits.

Nurse pleads guilty to 11 murders in Sydney fire

An Australian man accused of deliberately lighting two fires at a Sydney nursing home that killed 11 elderly residents pleaded guilty to murder today.

37-year-old Roger Dean, who was a nurse at the Quakers Hill nursing home, was charged days after the fire ripped through the place in the early hours of November 18, 2011, an Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) report said.

There were more than 80 residents in the nursing home when the fire broke out. Some victims succumbed to the blaze while others died from injuries sustained in the fire.

Brit woman gives birth after nineteen miscarriages

A woman has given birth to her first child after an agonising 19 miscarriages over 15 years.

Jo, of Newport, Gwent, and her bank manager husband Steve, 38, started trying for a baby in 1997 but had to face disappointments every time, the Sun reported.

Jo is one of 1.5 million women in the UK who suffer from endometriosis, a gynaecological condition that often leaves victims infertile.

But she was told of pioneering surgery by Cardiff consultant Richard Penketh.

Penketh did a four-hour operation, which involved cutting away scar tissue caused by the condition, last year.

10 fans injured when TV cable falls on race track

Charlotte Motor Speedway officials said 10 fans were injured and three hospitalized when a rope supporting an overhead television camera fell from the grandstands and landed on the track surface during NASCAR race in Concord, North Carolina.

CMS vice president of communications Scott Cooper said after the yesterday’s race that all three fans were treated and released from the hospital. He said he couldn’t discuss the nature of their injuries due to privacy laws. Cooper said seven other people were treated with minor cuts and scrapes at the track and released.

Communist rebels ambush Philippine police, kill 7

Communist guerrillas set off a roadside bomb and opened fire on a truck carrying police in the northern Philippines today, killing seven and wounding seven officers.

The members of the elite police Special Action Force were en route to a hospital for a regular medical test when the rebels, hiding in the bush along the road, detonated the explosive device and sprayed the vehicle with gunfire, said the regional police director, Chief Superintendent Rodrigo de Gracia.

3 UK men arrested in connection with Woolwich murder get bail

Three men arrested in connection with the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich were today released on bail, police said.

The trio of men, who are all in their 20s, were arrested in south-east London on Saturday three days after 25-year-old Lee Rigby was hacked to death in Woolwich.

“Three men who were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby have been released on bail,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. “They have been bailed to return to a south London police station,” the statement said.
