BIE reminder on inter first year supplementary exam fee

Hyderabad, May 1 (INN): The Board of Intermediate Education on Wednesday informed all the principals, students and parents that the last date for payment of examination fee for 1st year Advanced Supplementary Examinations is May 3.

The Board said that there would be no extension of date or payment with penalty or Tatkal scheme will be available for supplementary examinations. The Advanced Supplementary Intermediate Public Examinations , May/June 2013 will commence from May 22. (INN)

Army chief briefs PM, CCS on Chinese troop incursion

New Delhi, May 1 (ANI): Chief of Army Staff General Bikram Singh briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on the incursion by Chinese troops in Ladakh.

“The CCS met today and the Army Chief briefed us on the Ladakh situation,” Finance Minister P. Chidambaram told reporters after the meeting.

Chinese troops have set up camp 19 km inside Indian territory in Ladakh’s Depsang Valley since April 15.

India has tried through three military flag meetings and through diplomatic channels to get China to vacate the area.

Rehman Malik blames Musharraf for security lapse in Benazir Bhutto murder case

Islamabad, May. 1 (ANI): Pakistan”s former interior minister Rehman Malik has once again blamed former president Pervez Musharraf for not providing sufficient security to the assassinated PPP leader Benazir Bhutto. New jab to control diabetes could help fight obesity

London, May 1 (ANI): A simple once-a-day jab could be a lifeline for many diabetes patients, which will not only help control their condition but also fight obesity.

The 1.90 pounds-a-day breakthrough treatment is far cheaper than using other similar drugs and could save the NHS at least 70 million pounds over the next five years, the Daily Express reported.

Doctors can prescribe Lyxumia to patients following approval by the European Medicines Agency.

They have hailed the treatment as a major new tool in the arsenal to tackle the growing problem of Type 2 diabetes.

Risks to minorities in Pakistan have reached crisis level: US report

Islamabad, May. 1 (ANI): A US government-appointed panel has urged Washington to step up pressure on Pakistan over religious freedom, warning that risks to its minorities have reached a crisis level. The US Commission on International Religious Freedom, which advises the government but does not make decisions, called for the US to designate Pakistan, among eight other countries, as a “country of particular concern,” meaning it could be subject to sanctions if it fails to improve, reports The Express Tribune.

Even though Google Chairman Eric Schmidt had said that there might be some places where the glasses might not be best to wear, technology expert Robert Scoble found that his personal shower is not one of those places, reports ABC News. Earthquake hits parts of Pakistan again

Islamabad, May. 1 (ANI): Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Pakistan, including Lahore, Islamabad, Abbottabad, Haripur, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Sailkot, Battagram, Mirpur, Muridke, Jhelum and Swat. The quake”s magnitude was recorded 5.8 on the Richter scale. Its epicentre lay in eastern Kashmir, some 243 kilometres from Islamabad, reports The Dawn. Earlier in April, a major earthquake that struck a region near the Iran-Pakistan border, killed at least 34 people in Pakistan”s southwestern Balochistan province.

Swedish retail giant H&M planning to open 50 stores in India

New Delhi, May. 1 (ANI): Swedish fashion retail giant H&M is planning to open 50 stores in India to tap the country”s growing middle-class market, according to an Indian government statement. H&M is the second Swedish chain to seek entry into India after the government last year relaxed legislation to allow foreign retailers to set up shop in India and sell directly to Indian consumers to boost investment from abroad, reports New York Daily News.

Afghan Taliban kill peace chief negotiator in southern province

Beijing, May 1 (Xinhua-ANI): Taliban militants ambushed and killed three people including the peace chief negotiator in the southern Helmand province 555 km south of Kabul on Wednesday, a local official said. “A group of Taliban rebels ambushed the car of Malim Shah Wali, the head of High Peace Council, at 10:00 a.m. local time today killing him along with two police on the spot and injured four others,” an official with the High Peace Council in the provincial capital Lashkar Gah, Mohammad Daud Farhang, told Xinhua. The policemen had served as bodyguards for the late Shah Wali.

Three British soldiers killed in Afghanistan: MOD

Beijing, May 1 (Xinhua-ANI): Three British soldiers were killed by a road side bomb during patrol in Afghanistan, Britain”s Ministry of Defense (MOD) said on Wednesday. Their vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device whilst on a routine patrol in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province on Tuesday, MOD said in a statement. They received immediate medical attention and were evacuated by air to the Military Hospital at Camp Bastion but could not be saved, the statement said.

No evidence Boston marathon bomber radicalized before FBI 2011 questioning

Washington, May. 1 (ANI): No evidence has been found that Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev was radicalized before the FBI interviewed him in 2011. Two sources told Fox News that the FBI investigated Tsarnaev from March to June 2011 after it was contacted by the Russian Security Services, which said the bomber and his mother were followers of radical Islam.

First generation iPhone first device to become ‘obsolete’

New York, May 1 (ANI): The most sought-after phone once, the first generation iPhone is set to become ‘vintage’ and ‘obsolete’, six years after its launch.

Apple will officially classify its first generation model as ‘vintage’ in US and ‘obsolete’ in the rest of the world on June 11, the New York Post reports.

According to the report, the firm will provide for repair or service documentation only for the vintage models bought in California, whereas the obsolete ones will be denied access to apple repair services.

Earthquake injures 7 school children, 2 teachers in Indian-administered Kashmir

Srinagar, May 1. (ANI): At least seven school children and two teachers were injured Wednesday after a moderate earthquake hit Indian-administered Kashmir and its adjoining areas, officials said. The injures were reported from three different schools located close to the epicenter of earthquake — 23 kilometers east of Doda town of Indian-administered Kashmir. The area is commonly referred as Chenab valley.

London, May. 1 (ANI): Researchers have created an advertising system, which is able to track people’s eye movements while they shop.

The Sideways project by Lancaster University researchers uses software to locate faces and eye movements of shoppers captured on camera, the BBC reported.

It can also allow for video screens that change advertisements depending on what they look at in a shop.

The research team said that they hoped that their technology will be in use in shops within five years.

Yahoo chief pockets a whopping 36.6 million dollars in a six-month pay packet

Sydney, May 1 (ANI): New Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer’s compensation package totals more than 70 million dollars, including her basic pay, performance bonus and restricted stock, according to a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Young workers expect to be `financially sound by 25`

London, May. 1 (ANI): Today’s workers expect to earn enough to live by the time they reach 25, a survey has revealed.

The finance firm Legal and General found that their parents reached that point when they were 18, the Daily Star reported.
