ECET hall tickets from may 5

ECET convenor and JNTUK Academic and Planning Director Dr Saibabu has announced today that hall tickets for the ECET can be down-loaded from May 5. The examination will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on May 20.
He said that the candidates can download the hall tickets online, paste their photograph, get it attested by a Gazetted officer and reach the examination hall along with the hall ticket. There, the candidate has to sign it in the presence of the invigilator.

TDP leaders have lost confidence in Naidu’s leadership: YSRCP

YSR Congress Party on Saturday asked the TDP leadership to desist from depicting its leaders joining the YSRCP as bad commodities and said they are joining the YSRCP following loss of confidence in their party leadership.

YSRCP spokesman and MLC Jupudi Prabhakara Rao told newspersons here the TDP leaders, from Amarnath Reddy to former MLC Dadi Veerabhadra Rao, have lost confidence in the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu and have since joined the YSRCP.

21 Gentlemen Cadets pass out of Technical Entry Scheme

India and Iran Friday discussed the developing situation in Afghanistan and agreed to remain in regular contact.

The two sides also inked three MoUs during the 17th meeting of the Iran-India Joint Economic Commission which is being held here May 3-5.

Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and his Iranian counterpart Ali-Akbar Salehi also discussed the Chabahar port project.

A woman in Britain who killed her three young children before plunging to her death had wished to be buried with them, her parents said.

Heavily pregnant Fiona Anderson fell from a multi-storey car park roof later April 15 in Suffolk. She had recently separated from Craig McLelland, 24, the father of her children.

Anderson, 23, who was depressed, scrawled messages on her flat’s wall where Levina, three, Addy, two, and 11-month-old Kyden were found dead, The Sun reported Saturday.

Up to government whether parliament will function: Jaitley

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley Saturday said it was up to the government to decide whether parliament will function or not, and his party was firm on its demands for resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the 2G and coal blocks scams.

Iran proposes joint investment, new oil contract to India

Iran Saturday proposed to India joint investments and a production sharing contract for oil exploration as the two countries agreed to expand cooperation in the transport – especially cargo transit from Chabahar port to Afghanistan and energy sectors and building the North-South corridor linking Russia.

Meeting under the aegis of the Iran-India Joint Economic Commission, the two sides agreed to work on a trilateral transit pact involving India, Iran and Afghanistan.

Mamata asks centre to explain Sarabjit’s missing organs

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Saturday demanded a detailed statement from the central government about the missing vital organs of Sarabjit Singh, the Indian death row prisoner who died in a Lahore hospital a week after a murderous attack in jail.

“I am astonished that vital organs like the intestine, heart, gall bladder and kidneys were missing from the body of Sarabjit Singh. The forensic department of the Civil Hospital in Amritsar has observed this during the second autopsy,” Banerjee said on a social networking site.

The Congress-led UPA government was hit by a new crisis Saturday as the nephew of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal was sent to CBI custody after being arrested for taking Rs.90 lakh in bribe from a senior railway official, triggering opposition calls for the minister’s sacking.

An embattled Bansal pleaded innocence and claimed he had no knowledge of nephew Vijay Singla’s activities even as opposition parties demanded a wider probe into recent postings and award of contracts in the railway ministry, which the Congress has come to head for the first time in decades.

Modi telephones Lalu Yadav after accident

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Saturday telephoned RJD chief Lalu Prasad to inquire about his health, a day after he was injured in an accident.

Lalu is one of the most vocal critics of the Gujarat strongman for his role in the 2002 communal riots.

“Lalu was surprised when he got a call from Modi, who wished him speedy recovery,” a RJD leader close to Lalu told IANS.

Bharatiya Janata Party state president Mangal Pandey said Modi telephoned Lalu Prasad out of courtesy.

Violence in Ghaziabad following death of two in accident

Ghaziabad, May 4 (ANI): Angry townmen resorted to violence on Saturday, after two people died in a road accident in Ghaziabad. The accident occurred when a speeding truck crushed two persons riding on motorbike at a highway in the Loni area of Ghaziabad. The irate mob pelted stones at the local police. According to media reports, police had to resort to a baton charge to disperse the mob. Protesters also damaged a truck and several vehicles, and causing extensive damage to property in the area. Every year, between 150,000 and 200,000 people are killed in road accidents in India.

Unemployment rate drops to four-year low in US

London, May 4 (ANI): Stock markets rose to record levels after 165,000 new jobs were added last month, marking a four-year low in US unemployment.

Joblessness fell to 7.5 percent in April that pushed the Dow Jones Industrial Average past 15,000 briefly and saw Standard & Poor”s 500-stock index pass 1,600 for the first time.

According to the Guardian, after the initial surge the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged back below 15,000 in the afternoon, while Standard & Poor’s 500-stock index also slipped back below 1,600.

Legally working Indians in Saudi Arabia to be regularised

Indian workers who have travelled to Saudi Arabia legally will be allowed to regularise their visa status, get new jobs or to return home if they register voluntarily with the Saudi authorities during the three months grace period announced by the Kingdom, according to officials.

This was among the issues discussed at the Joint Group meeting held this week at the Saudi Ministry of Labour. The group will continue their discussions next week, said a statement issued from the Indian embassy in Riyadh.

Zuma wary of impact of Gupta jet probe on South Africa, India relations

Johannesburg, May 4 (ANI): President Jacob Zuma has welcomed the investigations into the landing of a Gupta family-chartered jet at the Waterkloof Air Force Base, but emphasised that the investigation should not be allowed to impact negatively on the relations between South Africa and India.

Zuma’s spokesperson Mac Maharaj in a statement said that the president is kept abreast on the steps that are being taken to establish what happened in order to prevent a recurrence, and to ensure that whoever is found to have breached regulations and procedures is brought to book.
