Arrested film actress wanted in another cheating case

Leena Maria Paul, an actress of Hindi and Tamil films arrested here for helping her male friend in a cheating case of Rs.19 crore, was also wanted in another cheating case in Chennai, police said Wednesday.

On the basis of photographs available with Chennai police, Paul, 25, was arrested Monday here. “Paul was wanted in another cheating case by Crime Branch of Chennai police,” said the official.

Eid big enough for two films: Akshay Kumar

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar said the festival of Eid was big enough to accommodate two films, SRK’s “Chennai Express” and his “Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Again”.

“I see this in a positive way. Eid is a big day. It is big enough for two films. There is no point in thinking too much over it,” Akshay said at the first look of the film held Wednesday. Eid falls in August.

The actor was accompanied by the star cast of the film, Imran Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and director Milan Lutheria.

Russia seeks Tajikistan to approve military base deal

Russia has urged Tajikistan to ratify the agreement signed by them in 2012 which allows the existence of a Russian military base in Tajikistan.

The agreement allows Russian military presence in three Tajik cities, namely, Dushanbe, Kulyab and Kurgan Tyube, collectively known as the 201st Military Base. The agreement carries a validity of 30 years, with options for extensions by five years, Xinhua reported.

“We hope that soon it will be ratified,” Yury Ushakov, assistant to Russian President Vladimir Putin, told media Wednesday here.

UP Muslim cleric gets MoS rank; BJP says it is to win votes

Uttar Pradesh government has appointed prominent Muslim cleric of Barelvi sect Mohd Tauqeer Raza Khan as advisor in handloom department – a Minister of State status, triggering criticism from BJP, which said it was done to woo Muslim voters.

Khan, who is Itihaad-e-Millat Council president and belongs to Bareilly, was appointed on May 27, official sources said today.

Besides, Shripati Singh of Basti district has been appointed as member of the state planning commission, and
K P Singh of Etawah as advisor in Ayush department.

Mujahid’s family turns down UP govt’s compensation

The family of terror suspect Khalid Mujahid, who died in police custody on May 18, on Wednesday refused to accept the Rs 6 lakh compensation offered by Uttar Pradesh government.

On Wednesday, Cabinet minister Paras Nath Yadav went to Mujahid’s residence at Mastana locality in Madiyahon to hand over the cheque to his kins. But, Mujahid’s uncle, Zaheer Alam Falahi refused to take the cheque stating what the family has lost is “irreplaceable” and can’t be compensated.

SRK discharged from Lilavati Hospital

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who underwent surgery on his right shoulder at Lilavati Hospital was discharged on Wednesday evening.

A source close to the family revealed: “The surgery went off well and he is absolutely fine. Shah Rukh got discharged at around 8.30 pm. His wife Gauri was with him.”

Shah Rukh underwent surgery on his right shoulder on Monday afternoon and his son Aryan flew down from London to be with his father.

Sources close to SRK says that the surgery was due for quite some time.

NASA ex-official found dead in Thailand

A 76-year-old retired NASA official who served on the Apollo Navigation Team has been found dead with a rope around his neck and genitals inside a home in Thailand, a British daily reported Wednesday.

Police found the body of Paul Milford Muller in Tak province Tuesday and suspect he had been dead for about three days, the Daily Mail reported.

Police said there was a rope tied around his genitals and waist and another tied around his neck, and hanging from the knob of his bedroom door.

Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez, who will be seen sharing screen space with Salman Khan in Sajid Nadiadwala’s “Kick”, says working with the star is like a “dream come true” for her.

Govt to seek cancellation of Andhra HC order on encounters

The government will seek before the Supreme Court the cancellation of the Andhra Pradesh High Court order directing registration of murder cases against security personnel involved in ambushes and encounters with Maoists saying it will have “dangerous portents and implications”.

Security forces engaged in such operations are perturbed over the order, which was issued in 2009 on the petition of the AP Civil Liberties Committee and will go for review in the apex court now.

Bodoland minority panel unhappy over CBI probe

A minority Bodoland student’s panel Wednesday demanded a high level probe into the 2012 riots in Assam, saying they do not trust the ongoing investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The clashes that broke out in July 2012, between the Bengali-speaking Muslim settlers and Bodo people led to the killing of over 100 people and displaced over five lakh others in three districts of the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).

Indian origin doctor in Malaysia charged with assaulting wife

A court in Malaysia has ordered that an Indian-origin doctor be charged with assaulting his wife in a case dating back to nearly four years, after a lower court had acquitted him.

The high court at Shah Alam, capital of the Malaysian state of Selangor, ordered P. Mahendran, 47, to enter his defence on the charge after a lower court had acquitted him, media reports said Wednesday.

Indian student commits suicide in Saudi

An 18-year-old Indian student in Saudi Arabia has allegedly committed suicide after failing in his class 12 CBSE exams, results of which were declared on Monday.

Mir Ameer Ansari from Dammam in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province was an intelligent student but took his life after failing in Mathematics, the Arab News reported on Wednesday.

“He just couldn’t come to terms with the fact that he could only score 17 out of 100 in mathematics,” the report quoted a community elder as saying.

PM’s visit to Japan extremely successful: Mathai

Terming the visit of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Japan as “extremely successful”, Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai said Wednesday it had helped in “lifting relations to an entirely new dimension”.

Mathai said that the “clear-cut support” for India from Japan on “working towards India’s full membership of the export control regimes” like the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) was a big thing.

“The possibilities of cooperation between Japan and India have reached a decisive phase,” Mathai told Indian reporters accompanying the prime minister.

Top Pakistani Taliban leader killed in drone strike

Waliur Rehman, the second-in-command of the Pakistani Taliban was killed in a suspected US drone strike Wednesday, BBC reported.

However, the Pakistani Taliban leadership did not officially confirmed the death.

Missiles hit a house close to Miranshah town in northwest Pakistan early Wednesday.

The strike came a week after US President Barack Obama issued new guidelines for tighter scrutiny of the drone programme and stricter targeting rules.

India, Japan stress on enhancing trade in goods and services, investments

Myleene Klass takes her tea with breast milk

London, May 29 (ANI): Myleene Klass has revealed that she drinks tea made from her own breast milk.

The mother-of-two said that she had even offered her own milk to family and friends, the mirror reported.

The singer and model, 35, said that the milk tastes like a probiotic yoghurt drink.

She described the taste as sweet but not as sweet as condensed milk.

Myleen’s inspiration was her dad Oscar, a senior officer in the Royal Navy.

She added that she grew up knowing that her dad uses a dash of it in his tea and so does not find anything weird about it. (ANI)

Opposition leaders, activists charged for sedition in Malaysia

Several Malaysian opposition leaders and activists were charged on Wednesday for sedition after the recent general election, as opposition vowed to continue large protest against alleged electoral fraud. Opposition People”s Justice Party (PKR) vice president Tian Chua were among the five who were brought to a Kuala Lumpur court, where they were charged with allegedly seditious remarks during a political forum on May 13 by calling street protests against the May 5 election results.

Anti-TSA activist alleges she was groped and not frisked at US airport

New York, May 29 (ANI): An anti- Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has claimed that a female security staff groped her vagina during a pat down at San Diego International Airport.

In the video posted on YouTube on Saturday, Ashley Jessica said that “she just touched my vagina. Seriously, that was not my upper thigh,” seconds after the female agent admittedly searched her groin area, the New York Daily News reported.

Jessica and her mother filmed their frisking after exercising their right to forgo the full body scanner.

Notice to governments on women’s sexual harassment

The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued notice to the central and Delhi governments on a PIL seeking direction to take adequate steps to prevent incidents of sexual harassment of women in the city.

A division bench of Chief Justice D. Murugesan and Justice Jayant Nath issued notice to the home ministry, Delhi government and the capital’s police commissioner and sought their response by Aug 14.

Delhi rues power equation with central government

Admitting that there was lack of coordination between the central and the Delhi governments, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Wednesday said her government has many responsibilities but without power.

“There is a lack of coordination between the state and central governments,” Sheila Dikshit told a group of women journalists at the Indian Women Press Corps (IWPC).

“We have many responsibilities… but in many cases without power,” she said.

Buddhist Mobs Torch Mosque and Muslim School in Myanmar

Security forces on Wednesday struggled to bring peace to a northern city in Myanmar after Buddhist mobs torched a mosque, a Muslim school and shops, the latest outbreak of religious violence in Myanmar and a sign that radical strains of Buddhism may be spreading to a wider area of the country.

The violence occurred in Lashio, near the border with China, which is hundreds of miles from towns and villages affected by religious violence earlier this year.

Ingredients

1 Mango
1 tbsp Sugar
1 cup Yogurt
2-3 strands Saffron (kesar)
A pinch of Green Cardamom Powder
How to make Aam Ki Lassi

Wash the mango properly, peel it and remove its shell.
Grind its flesh into a mixer to make a paste out of it and transfer it into a glass bowl.
Take yogurt, sugar and ice cubes and blend it properly in the same mixer for a minute.
Add the mango paste and blend again for half a minute on minimum speed.

Suggestions

Garnish with saffron strands and serve chilled.
