94% LeT recruits view J-K as fighting front: US report

A staggering 94 per cent of fresh recruits of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) see Jammu and Kashmir as a “fighting front” and hail mostly from Pakistan’s Punjab province from families having links with the powerful army and intelligence network, according to a US military report.

The eye-opener report from the US Military Academy in West Point is result of a multi-year research effort conducted by a lead team of five eminent authors including C Christine Fair, Don Rassler and Anirban Ghosh, and is based on a study of over 900 biographies of the deceased LeT militants.

No vacancy for Jayaprada in Congress: chief whip

Government chief whip G Venkatramna Reddy told that there is no vacancy for Jayaprada in Congress. Speaking to media he maintained that Rampur MP Jayaprada is keen to take part in state politics but there is no seat for her in Congress therefore she is trying her luck in other parties.

He opined that either YSR Congress has lost confidence in itself or the public have lost faith in the party after Jagan went to jail. This may be the reason why the party is trying to get people’s attention by using photos of senior and junior NTRs.

Defamation case: Court asks for Dikshit’s medical records

Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit was today asked by a court here to submit her medical records related to her treatment after she sought exemption from personal appearance in the defamation case which she had filed against former city BJP chief Vijender Gupta.

Annoyed by the submission of Dikshit’s counsel Mehmood Pracha that she was unable to appear before the court as she is undergoing treatment, Metropolitan Magistrate Namrita Aggarwal asked him to submit the medical documents before the court on April 27, the next date of hearing.

Nine Goa MLAs break traffic rules

At least nine legislators violated traffic rules Friday when they drew to the State Legislative Assembly complex from the highway without wearing helmets, and one of the bikes did not even have a number plate.

This happened minutes before the House proceedings began when five BJP legislators, three independents including a minister and a Goa Vikas Party MLA rode on five high-powered bikes to the assembly, much to the surprise of all the security persons and traffic police stationed at the highly guarded complex.

College students held for murder of junior

Seven engineering students, studying in a private college here, have been arrested for murdering one of their junior and severely injuring his friend in a suspected case of ragging, police said.

All those arrested are from Kerala and into their third year of college.

Police said the students of Gnanamani Engineering College had yesterday asked their juniors to fetch them drinking water from a tank which they refused, following which they were threatened with dire consequences.

Policeman molests woman; sacked from service

An Assistant Sub Inspector, in an inebriated condition, allegedly molested a married woman in Karnal district following which he was suspended and a case registered against him.

The 30-year-old married woman, who is a resident of Karnal, had alleged in her complaint that ASI Devender Singh, in an inebriated condition, harassed her at the Karnal bus stand on Wednesday night. The victim alleged that when she was returning from Delhi along with her husband, the accused who was not in his uniform, blocked their way while stepping down from a Haryana roadways bus.

US astronaut Sunita Williams today said it would be a dream to go to the moon but in the long run she would like to be a science school teacher.

“We are potentially building a new spacecraft. I would love to be a part of that. Building a new vehicle is always benefited by people who have experience.

Indian-American hotelier Vikram Chatwal has been arrested earlier this week at an airport in Florida for allegedly carrying a large stash of drugs including cocaine and heroine, a celebrity website reported.

According to the TMZ website, the multi-millionaire hotel owner was arrested on April 2 at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport after Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials found an “arsenal of drugs”, including cocaine, weed, heroin and various prescription pills hidden on his person and in his bag.

CBI issues notice to former minister Raja Bhaiyya

Thane building collapse: Death toll rises to 30

The death toll in the under- construction building collapse in ShilPhata area of the district has risen to 30 as rescuers recovered more bodies from the site this morning, Thane police control room said.

While 69 people were injured, rescuers fear that some victims are still trapped under debris, they said. The deceased included 12 men, some of whom were construction workers, ten children and eight women.

A pregnant woman, identified as Shakila Imran Siddiqui, was among the deceased, Thane civic officials said. The remaining bodies are yet to be identified.

Shamsabad: Rain coupled with wind storm toppled trees and power lines, closing roads and causing power outages at Shamsabad last night. Massive hail storm damaged electric wires. Rain storm is reported to have uprooted trees and signboards at several places.

National highway was inundated with sudden downpour and was transformed into lake. No damages have been reported so far. People faced problems as heavy winds caused wires to fall on roads. Shamsabad was plunged into darkness for nearly 18 hours.

BJP leader Vani Tripathi attacked on busy road

BJP national general secretary Vani Tripathi had a horrific outing on Delhi’s roads when she was assaulted by a gang of drunk men over a minor road accident.

Tripathi was attacked by the men in GK-2, South Delhi at about 9.15 pm on Thursday evening.

“A vehicle hit my car from the back. They seemed drunk, they tried to pull out my driver and get into my car,” Tripathi said, adding, “No one helped, there were thousands of cars on this road in Delhi. I fear what would have happened if my driver was not present.”

Mother commits suicide after killing daughter
(Siasat News): A woman ended her life after killing her daughter in Malkajgiri. As per the details, C Radhika, 28, strangulated her 3-year-old daughter and hanged her. Later, she also committed suicide by hanging.

Police said that the killer mother was under mental pressure. She was the resident of Vani Nagar and her husband had died in a road accident two months ago.

She was under mental pressure ever since and took the extreme step of not only killing her daughter but also ended her own life.
