Hyderabad, April 5 (NSS): Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy today paid floral tributes to the statue of Babu Jagjeevan Ram at Gunfoundry on the occasion of his 105th birth anniversary.
Social Welfare Minister Pithani Sathyanarayana, Labor Minister Danam Nagender, Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana, Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, MLC Prabhakar, several representatives of different SC Associations also paid floral tributes to Babu Jagjeevan Ram statue along with the Chief Minister.

Rahul brigade to spread his Ideals

Hyderabad, April 5 (NSS): All India Rahul Gandhi Brigade State president Mohd Shamshuddin has said the Brigade was formed to take the ideals of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi to people.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Mohd Shamshuddin said already presidents for six districts have been appointed. He said the Brigade’s main aim was to take the ideals of Rahul Gandhi to the people and to see Rahul as Prime Minister of the country. He also said the Brigade would take up social service activities and would work in association with the Congress.

Train No. 07003 Hyderabad – Kota Summer Special Train will depart Hyderabad at 10 15 hrs o­n 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th April and 7th, & 28th May, 2013 and arrive Kota at 13 30 hrs o­n the next day.
In the return direction, Train No.07004 Kota – Hyderabad Summer Special train will depart Kota at 17 10 hrs o­n 10th, 17th, 24th April and 1st, 8th, 29th May 2013 and arrive Hyderabad at 18 45 hrs o­n the next day.

TDP demands probe into Nag’s land deals

Hyderabad, April 5 (NSS): TDP spokesperson Revanth Reddy has demanded that the State government order an inquiry into the real estate activities of cine actor Akkineni Nagarjuna.
Speaking to the media here on Friday, Revanth Reddy alleged that Nagarjuna had indulged in irregularities in the Gurukul Trust lands located near the Hitec City. He also alleged that Nagarjuna had encroached upon 14 acres beside his land by burying a tank.

Hyderabad, April 5 (NSS): TRS senior leader Harish Rao expressed anger at the Chief Minister for his latest statement on the power tariff.
Talking to the media here on Friday, he said more than the tariff, other charges are adding up to more. Referring to the claim of the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy that the government reduced the burden on the weaker sections to the tune of Rs. 230 crore, he said the government should tell whether FSA charges were being collected or not on the power consumtion.

CPI seeks all-party support to state bandh on April 9

Hyderabad, April 5 (NSS): CPI State secretary Dr K Narayana has called upon all political parties to extend support to the proposed ‘State Bandh’ on April 9 protesting against the power charges hike.

100,000 youth from Jammu and Kashmir to be trained for jobs: Jairam Ramesh

Around one lakh youth from Jammu and Kashmir would be trained and provided employment outside the state during the next five years, union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh said Friday.

Addressing a one-day workshop on women’s interaction organized by the Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission in central Kashmir’s Badgam district, Ramesh said 15,000 youth would be trained for employment during 2013-2014.

The workshop was held in Khansahib block of Badgam district and local legislator, Hakim Muhammad Yaseen also attended the function.

Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan has sent 60 representations and petitions received by him from various individuals and organisations, both seeking and opposing clemency for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to the State Home Department.

In a letter dated April 4, 2013 addressed to the Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Maharashtra, Home Department, the Secretary to the Governor Vikas Chandra Rastogi has sent copies of all the representations received by the Governor during the last few days to the State Government, a Raj Bhawan spokesperson said today.

NIA slap murder charges on marines; Italy PM to talk to Khurshid

Concerned over NIA slapping murder charges against two Italian marines, Italy’s Prime Minister Mario Monti on Friday called up External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, who apprised him of the recent developments in the case.

The call by Monti followed a meeting between Khurshid and Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Staffan de Mistura who asked India to keep his government posted on the developments in the matter.

18 killed in Pakistani security clashes

Eighteen people, including 14 militants, were killed in clashes in Pakistan’s tribal area of Khyber Agency Friday, Xinhua reported.

The clashes broke out in the afternoon when some unidentified militants attacked troops in Tirah Valley area of the Khyber Agency, a militancy-hit tribal area on Pakistan-Afghan border.

In retaliatory attack, security personnel killed 14 militants and pounded five hideouts, said the report.

Sehwag to miss game against Rajasthan Royals

An injured Virender Sehwag will also miss Delhi Daredevils’ Saturday tie against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Unlike in Kolkata, Sehwag, who is suffering from a back spasm, did turn up for the practice session here at the Ferozeshah Kotla but only for a physiotherapy session.

David Warner said Sehwag would miss Saturday’s game.

“He will not be available for tomorrow’s game. Sehwag had a session with the physio and he is getting better everyday,” he said.

PM does not rule out third term for himself

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday did not rule out a third term at the helm if the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance was returned to power in the next elections but added that he would welcome Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to be prime minister “any day”.

The prime minister also dismissed the debate over two power centres as “useless”.

Asked whether he would accept a third term as prime minister, Manmohan Singh said: “It is a hypothetical question… We are yet to complete this term.”

Musharraf’s nomination papers rejected

The nomination papers of Pakistan’s former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for the upcoming general elections were rejected Friday from Kasur, one of the four parliamentary constituencies he is seeking to contest from.

Advocate Javed Kasuri had raised objections over Musharraf’s candidacy, citing Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution that lay down rules for qualification and disqualification for contestants for the Majlis-e-Shoora (parliament), Dawn reported.

Accepting the objections, the returning officer rejected the nomination papers.

Hacker posts girl’s nude pics on Facebook, spared jail

A student in Britain has been spared a jail term after he admitted having posted naked photos of a woman on Facebook by hacking into her e-mails.

William Wooles, 20, targeted his victim after discovering intimate pictures she had sent to an ex-boyfriend, The Sun reported.

Wooles, who was studying in Leeds, e-mailed her to inform that he had found “interesting” things and wanted to see even more explicit photos. He then put the photos of the woman, a student in Manchester he did not know, on Facebook.

He admitted to four blackmail and computer misuse offences.

J&K landmine blast victims await compensation

Over 90 people injured in landmine blasts in the frontier areas of Jammu and Kashmir during Operation Prakram, the India-Pakistan military stand-off in 2001, are yet to be get compensation.

Minister of State for Home Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo told the legislative assembly Friday that 91 people were injured or maimed due to landmine explosions during Operation Prakaram.

Not trying to gag media: Katju

Press Council of India (PCI) chairman Markandey Katju Friday advised media persons not be upset over his idea for a minimum qualification for journalists and clarified that he was not trying to gag the media.

A six-member committee constituted recently by Katju to submit a report on the issue held its meeting here.

Katju told reporters that he mooted the idea as journalism like medical science and other fields has developed, requiring formal training and formal qualification.

Man accused of raping daughter sent to judicial custody

A 45-year-old businessman, who was arrested for allegedly raping his minor daughter for over three years, was sent to judicial custody here Friday, police said.

Anil Kumar was arrested Thursday for sexually assaulting her 16-year-old daughter after a case was registered against him at the Sushant Lok police station.

The accused was produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Sukhpreet Singh, who sent him to judicial custody of 14 days, investigation officer Prem Chand said.

President Pranab Mukherjee will visit Mumbai on Saturday to attend the concluding ceremony of accomplishment of ”Sagar Parikrama-II” – Solo Non Stop Unassisted Circumnavigation done by Lt. Cdr. Abhilash Tomy of the Indian Navy.

The Indian Navy launched project ”Sagar Parikrama I” on August 19, 2009 to undertake Solo Circumnavigation of the globe, in an indigenously built yacht named ”Mhadei”. The first such Circumnavigation was accomplished by Cdr. Dilip Donde on May 22, 2010.

13 Myanmar soldiers killed near Thai border

Col Sansern Kaewkamnerd said on Friday that Myanmar authority has contacted Thai authority over 13 Myanmar soldiers killed in Myanmar territory near western border province of Ranong of Thailand.

Sansern said the 13 soldiers exchanges fire with an unidentified group around noon.

The Thai authority is now investigating whether this involved a group of Thai people who illegally entered Myanmar border. (Xinhua-ANI)
