President to visit northeastern states

President Pranab Mukherjee will visit the northeastern states in April and May, an official statement from Rashtrapati Bhawan said on Saturday.

From April 15 to 17, the president will be visiting Manipur and Sikkim in the first phase of his tour. He will attend the diamond jubilee function of Adimjati Shiksha Ashram at Imphal, Manipur, and lay the foundation stone for the SRM State University at Gangtok, Sikkim.

In the second phase, the president will visit Assam, Nagaland and Tripura from May 13 to 16.

NASA on mission to discover more planets and stars

NASA’s Astrophysics Explorer Program has selected two missions for launch in 2017 – a planet-hunting satellite and an International Space Station instrument to observe X-rays from stars.

The Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) and Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER) were among four concept studies submitted in September 2012.

NASA determined these two offer the best scientific value and most feasible development plans.

20 passengers injured in bus mishap

At least 20 passengers were on Saturday injured when a bus overturned and fell into a pit in Sikanderpur area, police said here.

The incident occurred this morning when the bus overturned and fell in the pit on Sikanderpur-Ballia road, they said.

The injured have been admitted to the district hospital where condition of one was stated to be serious, they said.

Three minor children injured in explosion

Three minor children were on Saturday injured in an explosion in Kupwara district of north Kashmir, police said.

The incident took place when the children were fiddling with an explosive they had found in the fields at Kumar Mohalla in Hatmulla area of Kupwara, 100 kms from here, police said.

The injured have been identified as 15-year-old Seema Bano, Azad Ahmad Kumar (9) and Faizan Ahmad Kumar (7), the police said.

The injured children have been admitted to a local hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.

Boy found dead with burn injuries

A 16-year-old boy was found dead on Saturday with severe burn injuries under mysterious circumstances in Unhideeh village of the district, police said.

Altaf, died this morning in his rented room after he caught fire in Raunapar area, police said.

The probe is on in the matter and his body has been sent for the post-mortem, they said.

MLC Mahmood Ali begins his work from Makkah Masjid

Newly elected MLC of TRS Mr. Mohammed Mahmood Ali on Friday visited historical Makkah Masjid and began his activities as MLC. After taking oath in the name of Allah at 11 am in the morning in Urdu language he performed Asr prayer in the historical Makkah Masjid. He told that the historical Makkah Masjid held a high place in our country. He told that he had vowed to offer prayer of gratitude (namaz-e-shukrana) at Makkah Masjid after taking oath.

Man held with half kg gold
(Siasat News): Custom officials arrested a man at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport with half kg gold.

As per the details one Mohd. Abdul Hakeem, native of Hyderabad, reached the city by an Emirate flight. During the custom checking, half kg gold was found from his bag for which he could not produce any legal documents.

He was shifted to Hyderabad custom office. Further investigations are on.

Two die in train accidents

Bus-tanker collision in Nigeria; 36 killed

At least 36 people have been killed in a bus-tanker collision in the southwest Nigeria, officials said.

“Thirty six persons including children died in the accident involving a petrol tanker, a bus and a lorry along Benin-Ore road” said Jonas Agwu, the spokesman of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).

The collision caused the tanker to explode and 30 occupants of the bus died while four persons inside the tanker also lost their lives.

The two children from a nearby mechanic workshop were also killed in the mishap yesterday.

Newly elected MLCs of TRS take oath

Swami Goud, Mahmood Ali and P Sudhakar Reddy, the newly elected members of Andhra Pradesh legislature council belonging to TRS took oath on Friday. Legislative council chairman Dr. A Chakrapani administered oath to the TRS MLCs in a function held at Jubilee Hall. Sudhakar Reddy and Swami Goud took oath in Telugu while Mahmood Ali took oath in Urdu language. All the three MLCs took oath in the name of God.

Thousands of students arrived in Warangal for IIT and JEE Tests

For IIT and JEE tests, thousands of candidates have arrived in Warangal. Mr. Abdur Rab Lateefi General Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami of India told this to Media men in a conference held here yesterday that arrangements of their stay are being made for the candidates.

He said that more than 35 thousand candidates are writing these tests at 161 test centers in Warangal. Mr. Lateefi told that Jamaat-e-Islami has made arrangements for providing accommodation and other facilities for 7000 candidates.

Representation to extend online registration of Scholarship applications – Waheed assures

Mr. Mohammed Abdul Waheed, Managing Director of AP State Minorities Finance Corporation said that he would talk to Principal Secretary, Dept. of Social Welfare for extending the last date of online registration of Scholarship applications. Nusrath Mohiuddin’s body laid to rest

Former Police Constable Abdul Qadeer could be released under article 161 of the Constitution of India. Mr. Justice Markandey Katju, Chairman, Press Council of India mentioned it in a letter to Mr. E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of AP.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor of Siasat Urdu Daily read out this letter on the occasion of All India Mushaira conducted by “Urdu Heritage Caravan”. He said that this letter would be handed over to the Governor and CM of AP today.
