Major relief: Three months grace period for iqama violators

In a major relief to Iqama violators in Kingdom of Saudi Arabiya, King Abdullah today ordered the Interior and Labour Ministries to give a grace period of three months for iqama and labor rule violators to correct their status.

In a report published by Arab News on 6th, the King also instructed that those who fail to correct their status within this period would be penalized in accordance with the law.

Urdu should be protected: CM

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Saturday stressed the need for the protection and promotion of Urdu language.

Addressing the Urdu Heritage Carvan’s Conference at Jubilee Hall, the Chief Minister said that steps must be taken at mass level to promote both Urdu and Telugu languages in the State. Quoting a UNICEF report, he said nearly 50 per cent of regional languages would be lost in the next 20 years. Therefore, he said the regional languages should be linked with employment for their effective growth and preservation.

Rising sea levels could threaten Kolkata, Shanghai, Dhaka: Pachauri

Cities like Kolkata, Shanghai and Dhaka are highly vulnerable to rising sea level due to climate changes as they are located in the coastal areas, said R.K. Pachauri the chairperson of the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) here Saturday.

“These cities, with huge population, are mega deltas, and they are likely to face the impact of climate change,” Pachauri told media persons on the sidelines of the convocation at the Indian Institute of Management-Calcutta.

Martyr Hemraj”s wife robbed of Rs. 10 lakh

Mathura, Apr. 6 (ANI): The wife of Indian Army soldier Lance Naik Hemraj, who was killed by Pakistani troops near the Line of Control (LoC) in the first week of January this year, has complained of being duped of Rs. 10 lakh by an unidentified person in the town of Kosi.

The incident took place on Friday when Hemraj”s widow Dharmvati was returning to her village with her brother-in-law after withdrawing the amount from the bank.

Washington, April 6 (ANI): Michael Jackson’s eldest son- Prince- was recently spotted out on a date with Remi Alfalah, who is believed to be a Kuwaiti princess.

Sources told TMZ.com that the two were photographed together and appeared to be having fun while bowling at PINZ in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

A source at the Kuwaiti consulate told the publication that Alfalah is indeed a princess and is a junior at the private school that Prince also attends.

The conclusions were drawn from a survey that found men had a brighter outlook due to earning more and fulfilment at work, among other factors.

However women were happier with more personal aspects of their lives, including health and sex, the Telegraph reported.

Concerns about money were most likely to prevent both sexes feeling content, with 46 percent of people worried about their finances, the study found.

Police pin down absconding builders in connection with building collapse

Thane, Apr 6 (ANI): In a major breakthrough, police on Saturday finally arrested the absconding builders Jameel Qureshi and Saleem Shaikh, who were on the run for the past couple of days, after 72 people had died and over 60 were injured in what is being termed as Maharashtra”s worst building collapse in a decade. One of them was arrested from Siddharthnagar in Uttar Pradesh, the other was arrested in Thane by the Thane Crime Branch.

Gang-rape accused refuses to return to ‘unsafe’ jail

A Tihar Jail official Saturday denied in a Delhi court the allegation that Dec 16 gang-rape accused Vinay Sharma was beaten by inmates while the accused claimed threat to life and refused to return to prison after the hearing.

The jail official said Sharma’s right arm was fractured “due to a fall in police van while returning to jail from court”.

Amid high drama, Sharma, whose arm was bandaged, pleaded before Additional Session Judge Yogesh Khanna not to send him to Tihar jail after the court proceeding as he feared for his life.

Police busts gang helping students to cheat in exams

A gang helping class 10 and 12 students in Haryana’s Rohtak district to cheat in examinations has been busted and five people, including the superintendent of an examination centre, have been arrested, police said Saturday.

“The Haryana Police has busted a gang which used to help students use unfair means during examinations for Class 10 and 12 of National Open School being held at a school in a village in district Rohtak and arrested five people, including superintendent of the centre,” a police spokesman said here.
