INSAF organization expressed its surprise for sanctioning loans to Govt. whip and ministers. Farmers and petty traders in AP don’t get Rs. 10 thousand even after making several rounds of banks but sanctioning loans to ministers is very surprising.

The tragedy is that people are dying of hunger and many farmers are committing suicides due to non-payment of loans. Granting loans to ministers only at 4% interest proves that Govt. has no concern for the poor. It gives more importance to protect the ministers instead of taking care of the poor.

Massive landslide in Tibet, 83 gold mine workers buried

At least 83 workers were buried after a massive landslide hit a gold mining area in Tibet on Friday.

The landslide took place in Maizhokunggar County of Lhasa, the regional capital, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

The victims, including two Tibetans, were workers from a subsidiary of China National Gold Group Corporation.

Officials said rescue efforts were under way.

Need to promote Islamic education in rural areas

These days, the Muslims are wandering in the darkness of illiteracy. They are so busy in their worldly affairs that they have forgotten their religious obligations. Islamic knowledge of the educated Muslims is also not adequate. The situation in the rural areas is very deplorable wherein the Muslims can’t even recite the first “Kalima” of Islam which proclaims the unity if Allah (SWT) and declares Hazrath Mohammed (PBUH) as his Prophet.

Chiranjeevi to campaign in border areas with AP

Telugu filmstar and Union Minister Chiranjeevi on Friday said he would campaign for Congress candidates in Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border areas in the run-up to the May 05 Assembly Elections in Karnataka.

“At the request of Union Minister KH Muniayappa, I will be campaigning for Congress candidates in the coming Assembly Elections in Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border areas, including Chikkaballapur and Kolar,” Chiranjeevi told reporters after attending a function here.

The party High Command would decide the dates for campaigning in these areas, he said.

Islam is the only religion which has solutions for everything. Laws of the world change according to time and place and changes have become inevitable but the Islamic laws have been derived from the Quran which provide us guidance for all the times and for all the regions in the world.

There is no need for any change in these laws till the Doomsday. We have to think about these laws and act upon them.

Separate line for Women and Senior citizens in railway stations demanded

In all the railway stations, the ticket issuing counter for the senior citizens and women is common. “Tatkaal” tickets are issued at 10 am. Women and senior citizens start forming a “Q” right from 7 am. There are not enough seats. As a result, senior citizens have to stand for hours together whereas young women occupy the seats.

Former Odisha law minister, wife held in dowry case

Police Saturday arrested former Odisha law minister Raghunath Mohanty and his wife Pritilata for allegedly torturing their daughter-in-law for dowry, an official said.

The couple was arrested from Kolkata nearly a fortnight after their 28-year-old son Raja Shree Mohanty was arrested March 17, in the same case.

According to Additional Director General of Police B.K. Sharma, the Mohanty couple had hired an apartment in Kolkata and remained in hiding there.

North Korea declares ‘state of war’ against South Korea

North Korea Saturday declared that it had formally entered a “state of war” with South Korea, reports Xinhua.

In an official statement carried by the Korean Central News Agency, North Korea said: “As of now, inter-Korea relations enter a state of war and all matters between the two Koreas will be handled according to wartime protocol”.

The 1950-53 Korean War concluded with an amistice, not a peace treaty. The two Koreas have thus technically remained at war for decades.

83 buried in landslide in Tibet”s mining area

A major landslide hit a mining area in Tibet Autonomous Region on Friday morning, burying 83 workers.

The landslide happened in Maizhokunggar County of Lhasa, the regional capital. The victims were workers from a subsidiary of the China National Gold Group Corporation.

Lightning kills nine in Uttar Pradesh

Even as pleasant weather in the last two days brought some respite for residents of Uttar Pradesh, lightning which accompanied the rains killed at least nine people in different parts of the state till late Friday, officials said.

Officials told IANS that of the nine killed, one was a woman. Nine others have been seriously injured in the lightning strikes.

The deaths occured in Chandauli (3), Ghazipur (2), Sambhal (1) and Meerut (3). Three people were seriously injured as lightning hit them late night at Ghazipur, officials said.

Two students beaten to death in Chinese school

Two primary school boys were allegedly beaten to death by a staffer in southern China, in the latest case of violent attacks against children in the country.

The boys were allegedly killed by the husband of school’s deputy principal in the dormitory of the private school in Yulin in Guangxi Zhuang region on Wednesday morning, state-run Xinhua news agency said on Friday.

The accused allegedly hit the primary school pupils and critically injured them. The duo later died in a hospital.

Muslims vanish as Buddhist attacks approach Myanmar’s biggest city

The Muslims of Sit Kwin were always a small group who numbered no more than 100 of the village’s 2,000 people. But as sectarian violence led by Buddhist mobs spreads across central Myanmar, they and many other Muslims are disappearing.

Their homes, shops and mosques destroyed, some end up in refugee camps or hide in the homes of friends or relatives. Dozens have been killed.

Slain village pradhan’s family tells CBI of threat from Raja Bhaiyya

More trouble comes the way of former Uttar Pradesh minister and independent legislator from Kunda, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya in the triple murder case at Balipur. The family of gram pradhan Nanhe Yadav has complained to the CBI of threats from the former minister and his men.

Nanhe Yadav was shot dead March 2, while having tea at a stall in Balipur village. His brother Suresh was also killed.

North Korea says at war with South

North Korea said today it had formally entered a “state of war” with South Korea and warned that any provocation would swiftly escalate into a nuclear conflict.

“As of now, inter-Korea relations enter a state of war and all matters between the two Koreas will be handled according to wartime protocol,” the North said in a statement attributed to all government bodies and institutions.

28 killed, 13 injured in China coal mine blast

At least 28 people were killed and 13 others sustained injuries following a coal mine blast in north-east China.

Forty-one workers were trapped after the accident happened around 10.40 PM (local time) last night at Babao Coal Mine in Jiangyuan District of Jilin Province, said a spokesperson with the provincial work safety and supervision bureau.

The 13 injured people are out of danger, the state-run Xinhua quoted the spokesperson as saying.

He added that the rescue work has been finished and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Moscow warns against muscle flexing around North Korea

Russia has cautioned against aggressive posturing in response to increasingly bellicose North Korean rhetoric, saying it could spiral into violence.

“We are alarmed that along with the adequate reaction from the UN Security Council and the collective reaction of the international community, unilateral action is being taken around North Korea that involves increased military activity,” Russian Foreign Minsiter Sergei Lavrov told reporters.

He was speaking after holding talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Leonid Kozhara.

Cong plays down Manmohan’s remarks, says people want Rahul as PM

Congress ministers on Friday downplayed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s remarks appearing not to rule out his being in the PM race for a third term but party spokesperson Rashid Alvi said people have a desire that Rahul Gandhi should be the Prime Minister.

Union minister and Congress leader Rajiv Shukla remarked that the Prime Minister had said nothing to suggest he was ready for a third term.

“In my view he was responding to a pointed question. And, what he said? He only said that when bridge will come we will decide how to cross it,” he said.

Pak’s ruling PPP declares itself as ‘poorest’ political party in country!

Pakistan’s Peoples Party-Parliamentarians (PPP-P) is by far the poorest political party in the country, according to the financial statement submitted by it.

The financial statements for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 2012 given to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) showed that the PPP-P has only Rs435,397, which includes Rs5,997 cash held by its finance secretary and Rs429,400 in its bank account.
