Man arrested for selling ganja
(Siasat news): The police have arrested a man for selling ganja at Mangalhat. Police also seized 20 kgs ganja from him.

It is said that that Sanjay Singh, an autorickshaw driver, was selling the narcotic substance near his house in Upper Dhoolpet in Mangalhat when he was arrested.

Sanjay Singh was nabbed by task force additional DCP Mr. Rameshiah. Further investigations are on.

Rodman says Kim Jong-un wants ‘basketball, not war’ with Obama

Dennis Rodman, who is known as the ‘bad boy’ of basketball, has returned from North Korea with a message from its leader Kim Jong-un for President Barack Obama – ‘lets talk about basketball’.

Speaking on his return from North Korea, the unlikely diplomat said that ‘he loves basketball. … I said Obama loves basketball. Let’s start there’ as a way to warm up relations between the US and North Korea.

He said Kim Jong-un ‘asked him to give Obama something to say and do one thing.’

He wants Obama to call him, Rodman told ABC News.

Drug peddler arrested

Commissioner Task Force West Zone Team arrested a drug peddler and seized 20 kg of ganja from his possession. According to details 40 year old Sanjay Singh resident of Dhoolpet Mangalhat who is a driver by occupation, depressed by his joblessness, planned to do drug business to make easy money. Sanjay used to purchase ganja at low cost and sell it at higher price.

Task force recovered 20 kgs of ganja from his possession and handed over to Mangalhat Police station.

2 public parks opened for visitors

2 major parks of the city NTR Garden and Sanjeeva Park, which were shut down following Dilsukhnagar twin blasts occurred on February 21, have been yesterday opened for visitors. The visitors arrived to visit recreational parks such as NTR Ghat, NTR Garden, Sanjeeva Park were finally allowed to enter the parks.

Idara-e-Adabiyat-e-Urdu exams, last date 4th April

China says its military policies key to Asia’s sta

China’s defensive military policies have played a core role in maintaining peace and stability in Asia, a spokesperson for the annual session of China’s national legislature said here on Monday.

“China’s peaceful foreign policies and its defensive military policies are conducive to security and peace of Asia,” Fu Ying, spokesperson for the first session of the 12th National People’s Congress (NPC), told a press conference.

“It’s not good news to the world that a country as large as China is unable to protect itself,” Xinhua quoted her as saying.

UK cannot rule out providing arms to Syrian opposition: Hague

British Foreign Secretary William Hague has said that his country cannot rule out providing arms to the Syrian opposition in the future.

Hague stressed that the situation in Syria now is “too dangerous to the peace and security of that entire region, and thereby to the world, to ignore it.”

Suring an interview with the BBC, Hague said the package would be given “directly to the opposition” and would include “more equipment to help save lives”.

Fair, early solution to Teesta water issue, Pranab assures Hasina

Visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, who met Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina here on Sunday, assured her that India is committed to “a fair, reasonable solution” to the sharing of Teesta waters and discussions with different stakeholders would be concluded as early as possible.

Mukherjee, who arrived here Sunday afternoon, held “restricted level” one-on-one talks for over half an hour with Hasina in the evening during which the contentious Teesta agreement and the 1974 Land Boundary Agreement also figured.

Narendra Modi’s address at Wharton cancelled

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s keynote address at the prestigious Wharton India Economic Forum later this month was cancelled on Sunday under pressure from multiple stakeholders.

“We do not endorse any political views and do not support any specific ideology. Our goal as a team is only to stimulate valuable dialogue on India’s growth story,” the Forum said in a statement on Sunday.

Modi was invited to deliver the keynote address at the Forum to be held in Philadelphia on March 22-23 via videoconference.

One killed in Mumbai gas tanker fire

One person was killed and 14 injured when a gas tanker caught fire near a slum in Mankhurd in Mumbai early Monday, officials said.

The incident took place around 2 am when the tanker carrying around 18 tonnes of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) gas suddenly caught fire. There was a loud explosion.

The blazing tanker overturned and the flames quickly spread to the nearby slums.

One person, whose identity has yet to be established, was killed while 14, including three women, sustained burn injuries.

Narendra Modi holds closed-door meeting with Rajnath Singh

Speculation over Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being given a bigger role in the BJP at the national level grew further as he held a closed-door meeting with party president Rajnath Singh on Sunday.

Soon after the national council meeting of the party concluded, Modi drove to Rajnath Singh’s residence and spent about an hour with him.

Sources said Modi and Singh discussed the party’s poll strategy in the coming months ahead of the 2014 general elections.

Don’t divide people on BPL/APL lines: Prakash Karat

CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat on Monday called for an immediate end to the “division” of people on the lines of below poverty line, above poverty line, and advocated for universal Public Distribution System (PDS).

“Now the people are being divided and are given ration cards on the lines of BPL, APL and Antyodaya, which should be stopped immediately,” Karat said at a meeting of the party’s Sangharsh Sandesh Jatha here.

Uproar in Lok Sabha over petrol price hike

The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon on Monday as the Opposition noisily demanded a rollback of the hike in petrol prices.

As soon as the house met at 11 am, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other parties started shouting slogans on the issue.

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar’s repeated requests to allow the proceedings of the question hour proved futile and the house was adjourned till noon.

Petrol prices went up by Rs 1.40 a litre, excluding taxes, from March 01.

15 killed, 25 injured as marriage party bus falls into river in Nepal

At least 15 people have been killed and 25 others injured when a bus carrying marriage party veered off a hilly road and fell into a river, in south-western Nepal.

The ill-fated bus met with the accident at Chidapani village of Palpa district along the Siddhartha Highway last night, police said.

Twelve people died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries at Lumbini Medical College Hospital, police added.

The bus driver was also killed in the accident and the vehicle was completely damaged.

Four injured are said to be critical.

Hyderabad blasts: One arrested in Ranchi

A man has been arrested here in connection with the February 21 Hyderabad blasts, police said on Monday.

“A man identified as Manzar Imam has been arrested,” Superintendent of Police Vipul Shukla told a news agency.

However, he refused to give details.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been searching for him for the last two years in connection with the Ahmedabad blast incident too and had come twice to Ranchi’s Bariatu area looking for him in the past.

The twin blasts in Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar had left 16 people dead.

Snow kills 8 in Japan, including family in car

Heavy snow that fell on the main northern Japanese island of Hokkaido over the weekend has killed eight people, including a family whose car got buried.

Kyodo news service says Kazuyo Miyashita and her three children died at a hospital Saturday night of carbon-monoxide poisoning after their vehicle got buried in the snow. Her daughters were 17 and 14, and her son was 11.

Terrorism most frightful threat to peace: President

President Pranab Mukherjee has said terrorism is the “most frightful threat to peace” after the World War II and the Cold War and cautioned against making a distinction between “good terrorism and bad terrorism”.

“I have always said that terrorism is no one’s friend. It does not belong to any religion and has no geographical boundaries. It only aims at attacking human beings and humanity as a whole. After the World War II and the Cold War, terrorism is the most frightful threat to peace. So, I think we need combat it together,” Mukherjee told ‘ATN Bangla’ TV channel.

School bus collides with truck near Jalandhar, 11 children killed

Eleven children were killed when a school bus collided with a truck in a village in Punjab”s Jalandhar district on Monday morning.

The mishap took place at 8 a.m. on a highway near Nakodar-Jalandhar road, when the bus was on its way to school.

While seven children died on the spot, four succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

Queen Elizabeth in hospital with stomach bug

Queen Elizabeth II was on Sunday admitted to a hospital here “as a precaution” after experiencing symptoms of gastroenteritis, Buckingham Palace officials said.

The 86-year-old monarch has been taken to King Edward VII Hospital in London, a palace spokesman said.

The spokesman for the Queen said that she was in “good spirits” and was otherwise in “good health” besides the symptoms of gastroenteritis.

“This is a precautionary measure. She was not taken into hospital immediately after feeling the symptoms. This is simply to enable doctors to better assess her,” he said.

30 injured in China earthquake

At least 30 people were injured when a 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit southwest China’s Yunnan province Sunday, officials said.

Around 12,000 people were evacuated after the quake hit Eryuan county in Dali Bai prefecture, Xinhua cited the provincial Civil Affairs Department as saying.

Around 92,000 residents were affected by the quake, over 83,400 houses were damaged and a total of 1,781 others collapsed.

Schools, transport and communication systems, water and power lines were damaged.

Around 3,000 tents, 7,000 cotton quilts and 7,000 coats were sent to the quake-hit area.

Karachi twin blasts: At least 48 killed, 150 injured

At least 48 people, including women and children, were killed and 140 injured when two powerful blasts ripped through a Shia-dominated area of the southern Pakistani port city of Karachi, the latest in a string of attacks targeting the minority sect.

The first blast occurred outside an imambargah (Shia prayer hall) in Abbas Town at about 7 pm. As people were leaving after prayers. The second explosion went off within 10 minutes, local residents said.
