Govt. plans to install 2200 mobile towers in Naxal-affected states

The Congress-led UPA Government, which plans to come up with a new surrender policy for Maoist cadres, will install 2200 mobile towers at a cost of Rs 3,000 crore in Naxal-affected states.

The latest development in this regard comes following a meeting of chief secretaries and Director Generals of Police (DGPs) of nine Naxal violence-affected states convened by the Union Home Ministry. Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh chaired the meeting that took place at North Block here on Monday.

Thousands march to save Yamuna

Thousands of people, led by saints and activists from Braj region, continued with their foot-march Tuesday towards Delhi, demanding release of water from a reservoir in Haryana into the “dying” Yamuna river.

The march for the release of Yamuna river water from Hathini Kund (barrage) in Haryana, is scheduled to reach Delhi March 10. The people who started the march Friday, allege that Haryana has blocked Yamuna water at the barrage.

Hajj House reels under power cut

The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad continue to suffer from power cuts, following the CPDCL’s decision to impose 4-hour power cuts as against the earlier two-hour power cut.

Even the Hajj House building plunges into darkness post noon. 2 out of the 4 lifts in the buildings have become defunct and people especially women and elderly persons have a tough time reaching the 7th floor.

It is said that power remains disrupted for 4 to 5 hours daily even as the two lifts of the building have already become defunct.

Founders of social networking giant Facebook, Dustin Moskovitz and Mark Zuckerberg, are the youngest on the list of the world’s billionaires, according to a survey.

According to the list released by Forbes, Moskovitz and Mark Zuckerberg, at the tender age of 28, are the youngest billionaires, with net worths of 3.8 billion dollars and 13.3 billion dollars respectively.

Eduardo Saverin, who also co-founded the site, is fifth youngest at 30 and worth 2.2 billion dollars, according to the list.

Now, technology that lets people ‘air-write’ texts,emails

Now a new technology has been developed that would allow users to draw letters in the air with their hand to write messages and emails.

Computer scientists at Germany’s Karlsruhe Institute of Technology have created an innovative “air-writing” glove system that replace the ‘thumb-typing’ texts or emails on keyboards or touch screen smartphones.

The glove, created by Christoph Amma and colleagues, is equipped with accelerometers and gyroscopes that detect hand movements, the Discovery News reports.

Suspicious death of a young girl
(Siasat News): A 17-year old girl Abeda Khanam died in suspicious circumstances in Chandrayangutta. She was not keeping well for quite some time and died yesterday during the treatment.

Police opined that the girl might have committed suicide by consuming pesticide but still mot sure. It is said that the real reason of the death would be known after the investigations.

Inspector Chandrayangutta Mr. Srinivasan said that the police have registered a case of suspicious death.

India inflict another heavy defeat on Australia

Community radio is fast becoming a sound system of communication all over the country. Babri demolition case: CBI to file reply in SC today

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will on Tuesday file its reply in the Supreme Court explaining the delay in its submission in the Babri Masjid demolition case.

In the last hearing, the apex investigating agency had maintained that senior BJP leader LK Advani, VHP leaders and some others had committed a ‘national crime’.

The submissions made by the CBI drew a sharp reaction from the apex court which asked the agency not to use such a language till the case is decided by the courts.

One die, 5 serious after consuming poison in Bihar

A woman died while five others of her family are battling for life in Saran district after they allegedly consumed poison over some domestic problem, police said Monday night.

Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar said all the six members of the family living in Karichak Imli Muhalla consumed poison tonight following some domestic problem.

While the woman died in the home, her husband, two sons and as many daughters are battling for life in Sadar Hospital in Chapra.

Three youths held for questioning in Hyd

Three youths from Karnataka were picked up for questioning for moving “suspiciously” near Chikoti gardens in Begumpet area today, police said. “The trio, who hailed from Bidar, claimed that they were engineering students and came here to attend interview, but could not produce any proof to support their claim,” a senior police officer said. Police said the trio were moving “suspiciously” and further investigations are on to establish the details. PTI

Officer talks to Pak spy about Hyd blasts, NSG orders probe

Counter-terror force NSG has ordered an inquiry against one of its officers for allegedly talking unauthorisedly to Pakistani intelligence officials regarding developments about the recent blasts in Hyderabad. Sources said the officer is serving in the counter-terror unit of the ‘black cats’ force and is a Major rank officer on deputation from the Army. National Security Guard chief Arvind Ranjan said the force headquarters has “ordered an inquiry” into the incident that happened a few days back.
