Try this low-fat recipe today!

Ingredients:

2 Onions (chopped)
1/2 Tomato (chopped finely)
4 slices Bread (each cut into 2 pieces)
1/2 cup Rava/Sooji/Semolina
1/2 cup Yogurt
3 Green Chillies (chopped)
1 tbsp Coriander Leaves (chopped)
1 tsp Salt
1 pinch Turmeric Powder

Procedure:

Make a thick batter of all the ingredients mentioned (except bread slices).
Now dip a piece of bread in the mixture and coat both the sides of the bread.
Pre heat a non stick pan.
Spread oil on the pan and keep the bread slice on it.

NC demands apology from PDP over comments against Omar

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday witnessed uproarious scenes as members of ruling NC demanded apology from opposition PDP for its comments against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, following which the House was adjourned for half an hour.

As the House assembled this morning, Speaker Mubarak Gul asked the members to allow smooth functioning of the proceedings and the Question Hour which had been disrupted for the past two days.

Srinagar observes shutdown over student’s death

Markets here remained closed to protest the death of a Kashmiri student in Hyderabad while a group of people clashed with the security forces Tuesday. No separatist group had called for a shutdown here.

Separatists have called for a march to south Kashmir’s Parigam village in Pulwama district, where the Kashmiri student who died under mysterious circumstances in Hyderabad was buried Monday.

Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are deployed in full riot gear in south Kashmir areas to prevent the separatist march.

Omar Abdullah seeks lifting of AFSPA in J-K

Chief Minister Omar Abdulllah, on Tuesday sought the lifting of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from selected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

The AFSPA grants special powers to the armed forces, battling militancy in the troubled regions of Kashmir and the northeast, which includes powers to search, arrest or shoot people.
It also gives legal immunity to the officials, so they can be neither sued nor prosecuted.

Earlier also Abdulllah pitched from its removal from the areas, which had been cleared of militancy. But the government rejected his proposal.

Firing in Baramulla, one dead, four injured

A 25-year-old man was killed and four were injured in firing allegedly by security forces during protests in Baramulla town of north Kashmir on Tuesday.

Hundreds of residents of Baramulla town took to streets to protest what they alleged ransacking of their houses by the army in the area, official sources said.

The protesters pelted stones at the army personnel who allegedly opened fire to disperse them, they said.

Five persons were injured in the firing, the sources said adding one them later succumbed to injuries.

Navy chopper crashes off Vishakhapatnam, two said to be missing

A Chetak helicopter of the Indian Navy is reported to have crashed off the Vishakhapatnam harbour this evening.

Initial reports said the chopper had four crew members, two of whom have been rescued.

As per reports, a search operation is underway to trace the missing two.

The incident took place around 16 kilometres from the coast.

More details are awaited.

A source said that the former First Couple were also spotted later in the day “looking sweet and holding hands while walking through Union Square.”

The source told the New York Post that other people barely noticed them.

The insider added that they just looked like a regular couple, enjoying a relaxing stroll and taking things in.

Syrian troops, rebels fight “ferocious battles” in al-Raqqa: report

The Syrian troops are fighting ” ferocious battles” with armed groups in the northeastern city of al-Raqqa after thousands of rebels poured into the city the previous day, pro-government al-Watan daily said Tuesday.

The armed men have stormed the city from different directions amid reports that intense fighting is currently ongoing there, al- Watan said, adding that the al-Raqqa was one of the safest places in Syria before the rebels” attack.

After the attack, the paper said, the armed men looted houses and government establishment in the city.

Pakistan Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, has been found to be one of the biggest defaulters who has not paid his electricity bills over the past 56 months. Malik, however, continues to enjoy uninterrupted power supply, reports The Dawn. According to electricity bills issued by the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), Malik tops the list of federal ministers who have failed to clear their dues which amount to Rs 4.9 million.

Activists protest against food security bill

Calling the national food security bill as piecemeal, diluted and minimalistic, civil society activists Tuesday said the proposed legislation restricts people’s entitlements and is devoid of any accountability.

Hundreds of protesters led by Right to Food Campaign, a conglomeration of social activist groups, staged a dharna at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi and said it did not ensure food security.

Pakistani prime minister to visit Ajmer Saturday

Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf would come to India on a private visit Saturday on a pilgrimage to Ajmer Sharif, official sources said here.

“He is expected to come Saturday on a private visit,” an official told IANS.

He said the Pakistani prime minister is scheduled to visit Ajmer to offer prayers at the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.

Congress seeks time-bound probe into Himachal phone-tapping

The Congress in Himachal Pradesh Tuesday demanded a speedy probe into the mass phone-tapping of politicians and government officials during the previous BJP regime.

The BJP, in turn, asked the government to make public the orders, if any, issued on tapping phones.

“The BJP has just made an issue over accessing its leader Arun Jaitley’s call detail records, whereas it is silent where there was mass tapping of phones. It is simply the criminalisation of administration,” state Congress president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu told reporters here.

Headley’s extradition plea stands: India

The US has not yet refused to extradite key Mumbai terror attack plotter David Coleman Headley to India, parliament was told Tuesday.

“No official confirmation for the rejection of extradition request (for Headley) has been received yet,” Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh told Lok Sabha in a written answer.

“India’s demand for the extradition of Headley continues to stand,” he added.

Headley was sentenced to 35 years in jail by a US court in December last year, for his role in 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Lok Sabha Speaker may allow Lanka Tamil issue discussion on Thursday

Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar is reportedly considering allowing a discussion in the Lower House on Thursday on the Sri Lanka Tamils abuse issue under Rule 193, which does not entail voting.

Kumar’s move is reportedly being made to assuage the feelings of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), a key ally of the UPA, which protested inside and outside the House on Tuesday on the issue, wearing black shirts.

Man gets jail term for rape attempt

A local court today sentenced a person to three-and-half years of imprisonment for a rape attempt case.

The court also awarded one year jail term to the accused, Mukesh, for giving life threat to the victim.

Both the jail terms will run concurrently.

According to the prosecution, on July 20, 2011, the girl went to Mukesh’s shop at Maniyarsuin-Kund village in Pauri Garhwal for buying a match box.

President PranabMukherjee today made his maiden visit to the ancestral home of his in-laws where he was accorded a traditional reception meant for a ‘Jamai’ or husband of a Bengali woman.

“We received the ‘Dadababu’ (elder sister’s husband) with ‘Uuludhani’ and ‘mangal pradip’ as he arrived with our sister Suvradi,” a cousin of first lady Suvra Mukherjee told after the couple’s private visit.

Film star Nagarjuna has met Nimmagadda Prasad at Chancahlguda Jail here on Tuesday.

Prasad, who is accused in the Jagan’s Disproportionate Assets case, is friend of Nagarjuna.

This is the second time Nagarjuna has come to meet Prasad in the recent past. “He is my friend and I keep coming to meet him,” Nagarjuna said.

A private-government initiative to make Bangalore, a known outsource hub, an attractive destination for startups kicks off March 7 here.

The four-day “StartUp Festival – Bangalore” is intended to make the city “the next big destination for entrepreneurs to come and realize their dreams”, its organizers said in a statement.

The festival comes against the backdrop of a survey that shows Bangalore slipping to 19th place from the 9th place as a startup capital. The survey was conducted by StartupGenome, a group of startup communities in the various cities across the world.

ACB sleuths search paloncha municipality

The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials have conducted raids in the Paloncha municipality.

The sleuths, led by ACB inspector Bapu Reddy raided the municipality this morning in connection with the alleged irregularities in the construction of a new building at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore. The ACB officials identified some key files and seized them. (NSS)

Delhi Court Remands Syed Maqbool Till March 13

Indian Mujahideen terrorist Syed Maqbool was produced before the court here by the NIA officials on Tuesday. On its turn, the court sent the terrorist to judicial remand till March 13 and he was lodged in the Tihar Jail.

The NIA officials filed a petition in the court seeking issue of a PT warrant in connection with the cases filed against Syed Maqbool in the past.
