Engineer found dead in Delhi

A 30-year-old engineer was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his rented house in central Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

The incident, which the police suspect is a case of suicide, was reported from West Patel Nagar last night and the deceased has been identified as Sushil, who hailed from Bijnore.

He was working in an IT company.

The doors of his house was found closed for the past two days and the incident came to light after police broke open the doors after foul smell started emanating from the house last night.

Hyd blasts: NBW issued against IM founder Bhatkal, 9 others

Non-bailable warrants(NBWs) were on tuesday issued by a Delhi court against Indian Mujahideen founder Riyaz Bhatkal and nine other operatives of the banned outfit in connection with the February 21 Hyderabad twin blasts which claimed 16 lives.

During in-chamber hearing, District Judge I S Mehta issued the NBWs against Pakistan-based Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal, Mohsim Chaudhary, Amir Reza Khan, Dr Shahnawaz Alam, Asadullah Akhtar, Ariz Khan, Mohd Khalid, Mirza Shadaab Beg and Mohd Sajid, who all are alleged IM operatives.

Pak PM to visit India on Sat to offer prayers at Ajmer

Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf will visit India on Saturday to offer prayers at the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer though no official meetings have been lined up so far, sources said today.

This is likely to be Ashraf’s last foreign visit before the term of his government ends on March 16.

Preparations for the day-long visit on March 9 were being finalised, diplomatic and other sources told.

Sohrabuddin case: suspended ACP Amin gets bail

The Bombay high court today granted bail to suspended Gujarat ACP Narendra Amin, an accused in the 2005 alleged fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and subsequent murder of Kausar Bi, on medical grounds.

The high court also accepted Amin’s argument that he has already spent six

years behind the bars in the alleged fake encounter case.

Bomb scare in Bhongir and Hyderabad

Police were on their toes when anonymous callers claimed bombs were placed at Bhongir in Nalgonda district and in Hyderabad.

Four persons tried to enter the Bhadradri theatre in Bhongir with some bags. Police, who grew suspicious, asked them what they were carrying in the bags. When they asked them to show the contents of the bags, three of the four ran away from the spot. However, the police managed to catch the fourth one, who was identified as resident of Uttar Pradesh. Police took him into custody and were trying to trace the other three.

But the new study, from the University of Munster, Germany, suggested that instead of using headache as an excuse to refuse sex, making love can be more effective than taking painkillers, the Telegraph reported.

Stress during pregnancy can affect offsprings` brains

Washington, March 5 (ANI): If a mother is exposed to stress during pregnancy, her placenta translates that experience to her fetus by altering levels of a protein that affects the developing brains of male and female offspring differently, according to a new study.

These findings suggest one way in which maternal-stress exposure may be linked to neurodevelopmental diseases such as autism and schizophrenia, which affect males more frequently or more severely than females.

The study was conducted by a research group from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

Ex-Maldives President Nasheed arrested for failing to appear in court

Male, Mar. 5 (ANI): Former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed has been arrested and will face charges of abuse of power during his tenure.

Nasheed was arrested after he failed to appear for a hearing and evaded two arrest warrants.

Media quoted Male police spokesman Hassan Hanif, as saying: “Mr. Nasheed was arrested on Tuesday at his home in Male, and will be produced in court on Wednesday.”

Nasheed was the first democratically elected president of Maldives.

He has been charged with illegally ordering the arrest of a senior judge, a move that led to his fall from power last year.

Four Naxals held for murdering former comrade in AP

Four CPI (Maoist) cadres, who had shunned arms to join mainstream, were arrested from Sircilla in the district on Monday for allegedly murdering their former comrade turned Congress leader last month, police said.

HIV infected people may have increased heart attack risk

Washington, March 5 (ANI): Alcohol is now the third leading cause of the global burden of disease and injury, a new study has revealed.

It also found that Canadians drink more than 50 per cent above the global average.

“Alcohol consumption has been found to cause more than 200 different diseases and injuries,” said Kevin Shield, the lead author of the study.

“These include not only well-known outcomes of drinking such as liver cirrhosis or traffic accidents, but also several types of cancer, such as female breast cancer.”

Obama’s job approval tumbles to lowest level since re-election

Washington, Mar. 5 (ANI): President Barack Obama’s job approval rating tumbled over the weekend, falling to its lowest level since his re-election, a new poll has found.

The Gallup survey found that Obama’s approval rating was 46 percent between Feb 29 and March 2, down from 53 percent a week earlier.
