Model-turned-actress Neha Dhupia feels live-in relationships are better since they are established by men and women by mutual consent. “There is no harm in having live-in relationships as they are established between a male and a female on the basis of mutual consent,” Dhupia told reporters while participating in a programme sponsored by a shaving products company. “A number of my friends are in live-in relationships and they are more happier than married couples,” she said. Man held for hacking to access private company information

A man has been arrested on charges of hacking official email IDs of a private company with branches all over Andhra Pradesh and downloading confidential information, the police said here today. Sleuths of the Cyber Crime Cell at Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested the accused named Gurazala Venkateswara Rao from Narasaraopet town in Guntur district, on March 4, they said. After interrogation, the accused confessed that he had a dispute with the company and had filed different civil as well as criminal complaints before various courts and the police against the company.

AP officials told to ensure adequate drinking water supply

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today directed officials to give utmost priority to drinking water supply in the coming summer. Reddy, who held a review with officials on water- related issues, asked the Finance Department to release the required funds, particularly to meet the water needs, during summer. He told officials concerned that if necessary drinking water should be drawn from the irrigation sources, an official release said here.

TRS flays Azad, Vayalar Ravi over Telangana comments

Objecting to some of the recent comments of Union Ministers Ghulam Nabi Azad and Vayalar Ravi on the Telangana issue, TRS today alleged that the two Congress leaders have hurt the sentiments of people of the region. Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao, who spoke at a gathering of women here, referred to the comments of Azad, who had said a month may not exactly mean 30 days for taking a decision on a sensitive issue like Telangana.

Woman commits suicide after killing two kids

A 23-year-old woman allegedly killed her two children before committing suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her residence in Mataur village in the district, police said today. The incident took place last night when Bindu strangulated her two kids- Rachit (5) and Radhika(6) to death after she had a heated argument with her husband Uttam Kumar and later committed suicide, they said. Later, the bodies were recovered by the neighbours who informed the police about the same. Further probes are on into the case, they added. PTI

Man detained for trying to travel on fake passport

A man was today detained at the N S C Bose International Airport here for trying to travel with a fake passport, airport sources said. Md Ayub was detained by the immigration authorities when he tried to board an Emirates flight to Dubai. The immigration authorities found that the passport of Ayub was fake and detained him, the sources added. PTI

Court asks for psychiatric check-up of Abu Jundal

A local court today directed Arthur Road Jail officials to arrange for a check-up of LeT operative and key 26/11 attacks handler Abu Jundal by a psychiatrist after he complained that he was hallucinating about hanged terrorist Ajmal Kasab. “The special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act court has asked the jail authorities to provide a check-up by a psychiatrist from the state-run J J hospital and has asked to file a report next week,” said Jundal’s lawyer advocate Ejaz Naqvi.

Five rapes reported in capital in last three days

A woman was gang-raped in a moving car and four minors were raped in separate incidents in the last three days in the capital, police said today. The first incident was reported from north-east Delhi’s Welcome area on Monday night in which the 25-year-old woman was raped allegedly by four people in the moving car. The woman, who is separated from her husband and searching for a job, was spotted by a police patrol van near a dust bin in an unconscious state. She was rushed to the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital where her condition is stated to be out of danger.

School girl delivers baby in Raj hostel, warden suspended

A 17-year-old student studying in class XI delivered a baby boy in her hostel at a government residential girls school in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district. The girl delivered the baby in a bathroom of the hostel early yesterday. “When the matter came to light, the hostel warden Hemlata was suspended (for negligence) and the principal Bhanwar Lal was removed from the school last night,” Nagaur Collector Ashok Bhandari said today. The principal has been put on Awaiting Posting Orders (APO) status. “The incident came to light when other girls heard the cries of the newborn boy.

Police officer suspended for dereliction of duty

A police officer has been suspended for failing to nab robbers despite being on the spot when the crime was taking place. “Bopal Police Sub Inspector A S Ninama has been suspended for dereliction of duty. He reached the spot on time but did not take any action,” Inspector General (Ahmedabad Range) R B Brahmbhatt said. “He has been suspended and will be taken back only on merit pending completion of departmental proceedings,” Brahmbhatt added. A gang of robbers yesterday made away with cash and ornaments worth Rs 5.15 lakh from a bungalow in Shela village.

Head constable shot while trying to nab criminal

A Delhi Police Head Constable tonight suffered bullet injuries in west Delhi when he along with his team were trying to nab a criminal. The incident took place in Janakpuri area when Head Constable Shyamlal along with others sleuths went to apprehend the criminal “A Crime Branch team had gone to nab a criminal. While we zeroed in on him, he whipped out a firearm and opened fire. Head Constable Shyamlal suffered bullet injuries,” a senior police official said. The police team managed to arrest the criminal.

Ishrat case: Singhal not to withdraw resignation

Girish Singhal, the first police officer from Gujarat to be arrested in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case, today said he would not withdraw his resignation. When asked by reporters — while he was being taken out of court by CBI officers — whether he would withdraw his resignation, Singhal, an IPS officer, said, “No, I won’t.” He was brought to the magistrate’s court today following completion of six-day CBI remand.

Railways gave only 12 trains against our demand for 50: Azam

The Uttar Pradesh government had demanded 50 trains to clear the massive rush during the Maha Kumbh but got only 12 before the stampede on the Allahabad junction, in which 36 persons lost their lives, state minister Azam Khan said today. Maha losing Rs 122 cr a year due to concessions to IPL: BJP

Student commits suicide after being denied hall ticket

A college student committed suicide today for allegedly being denied a hall ticket by the college management to appear for annual exams. Police sources said that K Sai Kumar (17) of Sangupet village, Andole mandal of Medak district, a student of Kranthi Junior College at Jogipet’ went to college yesterday to collect his hall ticket, but returned home without it.

Allahabad stampede: Railways inquiry committee arrives in city

A three-member inquiry committee constituted by Railways to look into the February 10 stampede that claimed 38 lives arrived here today. The committee, headed by Additional Member (Traffic), Railway Board, Devi Prasad Pandey and comprising IG, Railway Protection Special Force, Gopal Gupta and Advisor(Engineering) Pradeep Kumar arrived here this morning. They visited the site of the stampede at Allahabad junction.

Alert citizens foil daylight robbery

Two alert citizens foiled a robbery bid by four bike borne thieves, who tried to flee with a bag of diamonds and gold worth Rs 1.29 crore near Wadala in central Mumbai today, the police said. The accused were speeding away after snatching a bag when the victim raised an alarm alerting two people who chased them and managed to retrieve the bag, though the thieves escaped.

’41 km of rural roads being added everyday in Bihar’

Bihar Rural Works Minister Bhim Singh today claimed that 41 km of rural roads are being added in the state everyday. In terms of geographical distribution 98 per cent of the state’s territory has been covered under rural road network, which now comes to 36,232 km and constructed by the NDA government in the past seven years to improve rural connectivity, Singh said replying to the debate on his department’s budget of Rs 2,472.83 crore. The NDA government took rural road connectivity as a major challenge in view of the poor condition of roads during the erstwhile RJD government, he said.

BJP MP detained in Ghaziabad as administration fears tension

BJP MP Yogi Adityanath was detained today at the railway station here when he arrived to meet the family of a right-wing activist, who was shot dead by some unidentified assailants. Adityanath had arrived here by Vaishali Express to meet the family of slain Yuva Vahini leader Babu Lal Gupta, a BJP party worker told reporters here. Superintendent of Police Shivshankar Yadav said the BJP MP was taken into custody as they had received an order that he should not be allowed to visit Ambedkarnagar where series of arson and violence took place after Gupta was shot dead.
