Flesh trade racket busted, 13 held in Rajasthan

Thirteen persons, including a women, were arrested on Thursday in connection with a flesh trade racket in Bhilwara district, about 245 kms from here, police said.

Following a tip off, a raid was conducted at a farm house under Sadar police station area and the 13 persons were arrested, they said.

Over Rs 70,000 cash and luxury vehicles were seized from their possession, police said.

Ex-cop arrested for murdering teen, raping girl in Mexico

A former police officer has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 16-year-old boy and the rape of his 15-year-old girlfriend last month, Mexican officials said.

Pedro Luis Becerril is a former member of the police department in Chimalhuacan, a city in Mexico state, which surrounds the Federal District and forms part of the Mexico City metropolitan area.

Becerril was a fugitive since Feb 22, when the murder and rape occurred in Chimalhuacan, Mexico state Attorney General Miguel Angel Contreras said.

Ensuring safe polls a challenge: Pakistani daily

A leading Pakistani daily Friday feared that militants could launch an offensive in their bid to scuttle the elections so as to weaken the fledgling democratic institutions and push the country into turmoil again.

An editorial in the Dawn said that while holding a transparent, fair vote is a huge task, ensuring security for the polls is an even bigger challenge.

“Chaos is what militants have been looking to create, and it is not difficult to understand why certain violent groups are so afraid of the democratic processes that an election triggers,” it said.

Rains lash Delhi for second day

A day after taking Delhiites by surprise, rains lashed the capital for the second day on Friday.

On Friday morning, the minimum temperature settled a notch below average at 17.5 degrees Celsius.

The Met Office had predicted rain in the city later in the day.

The maximum temperature on Friday is expected to hover around 30 degrees Celsius, an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

The city recorded a total 4.3 mm rainfall on Thursday. A few areas in east Delhi also witnessed hail.

North Korea ratifies plan for rocket strike

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ratified a strike plan by the Strategic Rocket Force as US B-2 stealth bombers flew over the Korean Peninsula, the KCNA news agency reported Friday.

“The time has come to settle accounts with the US imperialists in view of the prevailing situation,” Xinhua quoted Kim Jong Un as saying after an urgent meeting with top military officials early Friday.

He ratified a plan of the Strategic Rocket Force for firepower strike on the US and South Korea if they “make a reckless provocation”, said the KCNA.

Manisha Koirala in ‘Market 2’?

Director Jay Prakash is keen to sign Manisha Koirala for “Market 2” after she returns from New York, where she is undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer.

“Manisha is my lucky charm. She was in my film ‘Market’ and I had discussed the script of ‘Market 2’ with her. She liked the script. Once she is back after her treatment, I will again narrate the script to her,” he said.

“Market”, released in 2003, was about a woman sold to a brothel by her husband.

UN chief disappointed at failure to adopt arms treaty

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Friday said that he is “deeply disappointed” at the failure of the final UN conference to adopt a treaty by consensus which would help regulate the multi-billion-dollar international arms trade.

“The secretary-general is deeply disappointed with the failure of the Final United Nations Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty to reach an agreement on a treaty text,” said a statement issued here by Ban’s spokesman.

“The treaty had been within reach, thanks to the tireless work and spirit of compromise among member states,” reported Xinhua.

Swiss woman gangrape: Cops to rely more on forensic evidence

In order to prove the charges against the accused in the March 15 Swiss woman gang-rape case, police said they would count more on the scientific evidence than traditional methods like identification parade.

The trial in the gang-rape case will begin on Saturday in the court of Special Additional District Judge (ADJ), Jitendra Kumar Sharma.

“We will rely more on scientific evidence like DNA finger-printing, samples of hair and vaginal swab collected and examined in the case to nail the culprits in the court of law,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chambal Range, D K Arya said.

(Siasat News): Some unidentified persons killed an aged couple in Rajendranagar. On the information provided by the people of the locality, police reached the Green city colony in Budvel and recovered the dead bodies.

As per the details, Babu Rao, 75 and his wife Bharathi, 65 were living since a long time. The deceased had fabrication business in which one of his sons was his partner.

China shuts online fan club for new first lady

An online fan club devoted to Peng Liyuan, the increasingly popular wife of new President Xi Jinping, was shut down by authorities, the South China Morning Post said.

“Sorry, the account you are visiting is abnormal and cannot be accessed temporarily,” was the message that greeted people trying to reach the Guo Mu (mother of the nation) Fan Club on Weibo, China’s equivalent of Twitter.

The club was created by Wang Jian, 28, a student at Xiamen University, who described the censors’ action as “undemocratic”.

Wang’s blog had about 5,600 followers at the time it was blocked.

Pope Francis washes and and kisses women’s feet in break with church law, sparks outrage

In his most significant break with tradition yet, Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of two young women at a juvenile detention centre- a surprising departure from church rules that restrict the Holy Thursday ritual to men.

No pope has ever washed the feet of a woman before, and Francis’ gesture sparked a debate among some conservatives and liturgical purists, who lamented he had set a “questionable example.” Liberals welcomed the move as a sign of greater inclusiveness in the church.

Three women injured in bomb blast

Three women labourers were injured in a bomb blast in Bihar’s Madhubani district while harvesting mustard crop on Thursday.

Police said the women had detected two boxes buried underground at Khajedih village and had dug them out. When they tried to prise open the two boxes, the crude bombs stored in them exploded injuring them.

The three were rushed to the nearby public health centre and investigation into the blast is on, the police added.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (GHMC) is organizing free professional training for the unemployed youths. According to the Director of Data Pro Computers, Mr. Rakesh Singh Thakur SSC passed candidates would be provided 90 days computer training, in hardware, networking. National Investigation Agency (NIA) issued “Look Out” notice to arrest Indian Mujahideen activists. NIA has released the photos of the founders of Indian Mujahideen and others on its website. It has also obtained non-bailable warrants against them. NIA has issued this notice after arresting Syed Maqbool and Seyd Mukhtar.

CBI questions former chief security officer of YSR

A senior Andhra Pradesh police officer on Thursday appeared before the CBI here in connection with the disproportionate assets case involving YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

M Ramesh, Superintendent of Police, West Godavari, who was once Chief Security Officer of the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, appeared before the central agency.

He was questioned for about one hour as to who were the “frequent” visitors of the late chief minister, police sources said.

Jagan was arrested on May 27 last year by the CBI on corruption charges and he is currently under judicial remand.

Manik Prabhu Murder Case – Exoneration of Syed Maqbool and Mukhtar Ahmed is upheld by High Court

AP High Court upheld the exoneration of the alleged member of Indian Mujahideen Mr. Syed Maqbool and his accomplice Mr. Syed Mukhtar Ahmed. The lower Court had exonerated them in the murder case of Devender, owner of Manik Prabhu Medical Hall.

According to the details, Mr. Justice K.C. Bhanu dismissed the appeal of CID.

The Judge upheld the judgement of Nampally Criminal Court which had exonerated them earlier.

Hajj applications submissions last date tomorrow

The last date for submission of applications for performing Hajj in 2013 is Saturday 30th April (tomorrow). The office of State Hajj Committee would function today also despite public holiday on account of “Good Friday”.

Mr. Syed Khaleeluddin, Chairman of AP State Hajj Committee and Mr. Mohammed Abdul Waheed, Chief Executive officer of the Hajj Committee have requested the Hajj pilgrims to file their Hajj applications immediately without waiting for the last date. There will be no further extension of last date.
