People Of RR District Should Spurn The Propaganda: KTR

TRS MLA K T Rama Rao said some poersons opposed to the Telangana movement were propagating that there was no Telangana movement in the Ranga Reddy district and said people should spurn such propaganda.

General Strike Peaceful On Second Day Too

The 48-hour general strike launched by the Central Industrial Trade Unions in protest against the Union government’s anti-worker and anti-employee policies continued on the second day on Thursday. Several workers and employees’ unions participated in the strike actively.

In Saifabad, the employees of the Reserve Bank of India boycotted duties on Thursday and staged a protest before the RBI office. In solidarity with the strike, the employees of the banks too abstained from duties and joined the protests. With this, all the banks remained closed for the second day.

World Mother Tongue Day Celebrated In Secretariat

International Mother Tongue Day was celebrated in the State Secretariat here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister’s secretary Shiva Shankar said the employees in the Secretariat would talk and write only in Telugu hereafter. He also administered a pledge by the employees that they would actively participate in all the programs relating to Mother Tongue. (NSS)

APPSC Releases Group IV Results

Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission released results of Group IV examination on Thursday. The results are likely to reach all the districts in a couple of days.

After receipt of the results, Group IV posts would be filled in the districts on the basis of merit and reservation under the supervision of the respective district Collector. The merit lists might be displayed on the notice boards in the Collectorates in two or three days.

Kodandaram Urges People To Make Sadak Bandh Total

Kidnapped Baby From City Traced In Bibinagar

The two-year old baby girl who was kidnapped while playing before her house in Bharatnagar in Uppal on the outskirts of the city two days ago was traced in Bibinagar of Nalgonda district.

Two women were stated to have kidnapped the baby for the sake of the silver anklets she was wearing. The kidnapping was recorded in the CC cameras installed in the area. The police based on the footage from the CC cameras began a massive search for the kidnapped child and her abductors.

Shinde may have got it right with ‘saffron terror’: Congress

The Congress Thursday said Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s regret over his saffron terror remark was not a u-turn, and was meant only to assuage the hurt feelings of a political party and ensure smooth functioning of parliament.

“There is no u-turn… the home minister’s statement (made initially in Jaipur, linking the BJP and RSS with terrorism), may be factually correct but he expressed regret so no political party feels hurt,” Congress spokesperson P.C. Chacko told reporters.

Terrorists strike Dilsukhnagar for second time in 10 years

The serial blasts that rocked Hyderabad Thursday killing 12 people and injuring 80 others is one of the worst terror attacks in the city in recent years.

Dilsukhnagar area, where the bomb blasts occurred during the rush hour, had witnessed an explosion in 2002. Two people were killed in that explosion near Saibaba Temple on Nov 21, 2002.

Police had killed two local Muslim youths allegedly involved in the 2002 blast in two separate shoot-outs the same year. Police had blamed Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) for the blast.

BJP demands comprehensive probe into Hyderabad blasts

Terming the Hyderabad bomb blasts “unfortunate”, Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh Thursday sought a “comprehensive” investigation into the incident.

“This is a very sad and unfortunate incident and I believe it is a constant challenge presented to the country by terrorists. There should be a comprehensive investigation,” he said.

“I have faith that the government will ensure proper arrangements for the injured. I express my condolence over the whole incident and share my grief with the family of victims,” he told reporters.

Hyderabad blasts dastardly attack: PM

Strongly condemning the twin blasts in Hyderabad, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday described it as a “dastardly attack” and said the guilty should not “go unpunished.”

“This is a dastardly attack, the guilty will not go unpunished,” a tweet from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) quoted Manmohan Singh as saying of the two blasts that killed at least 11 people and injured 50.

The PMO also said the prime minister “strongly condemned” the bomb blasts.

NIA, NSG teams flying to Hyderabad blast site: Home secretary

Elite teams of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG) will be flying to Hyderabad, which has been rocked by twin blasts that killed 10 people and injured 50, an official said.

“We have a news of two blasts. We have spoken to state chief secretary, DGP (director general of police) and governor (E.S.L. Narasimhan),” Home secretary R.K. Singh told reporters here. “Ten people have died and 50 have been injured in the blasts,” he said.

Political leaders visit Hyderabad blast area

Leaders of various political parties tonight visited the Dilsukhnagar area here, the site of twin bomb blasts in which 12 people were killed and scores injured.

Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy reached the area along with Home Minister Sabita Reddy and Labour Minister Danam Nagender.

City Mayor Majid Hussain had to face protests from local people when he went to the area.

Narendra Modi offers condolences to kin of Hyderabad blast victims, prays for peace

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said he was saddened by the news of bomb blasts in Hyderabad and condoled the loss of lives in the terror attack.

“News of blasts in Hyderabad is saddening. My condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Praying for peace & calm there,” Modi tweeted.

The blasts rocked a busy commercial hub of Hyderabad close to a crowded bus stand at Dilsukhnagar.

Meanwhile, police administration in Gujarat has been put on high alert in the wake of the explosions.

Had information that blasts may occur, Sushilkumar Shinde says

The government had received intelligence warning of blasts taking place in the country, home minister Sushilkumar Shinde said on Thursday in the wake of the twin blasts in Hyderabad.

“We were receiving information for the last two days that such a blast may take place … we cannot speculate about the perpetrators at this point of time,” Shinde told reporters here.

Minister of state for home RPN Singh also said that the government had got intelligence about the blast.

IED used in Hyderabad twin blasts: DGP

Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were used in the two bomb blasts which were acts of terror and were aimed at causing maximum damage, Andhra Pradesh DGP V Dinesh Reddy said tonight.

He put the number of injured at 84 who are being treated at seven different hospitals in the city. At least 12 people have been killed in the twin explosions.

IEDs were used in the blasts, which were powerful and planted on bicycles, which took place in a span of about two to three minutes, Reddy told reporters here.

16 die in Damascus suicide car bombing

At least 16 people were killed and 208 wounded Thursday when a suicide bomber blew up a car packed with explosives at a busy intersection close to the ruling al-Baath Party headquarters in capital Damascus, the state media reported.

The blast rocked a crowded intersection, the state-media and witnesses said.

The state-TV aired footage of the blast site, showing images of destruction and carnage, reported Xinhua.

Charred bodies were also seen scattered on burnt concrete as firefighters and paramedics worked feverishly to help the injured to hospitals.

Indian students get chance to code for Windows

In less than a week from now, thousands of charged up students will get together to develop apps for the Windows platform.

On Feb 26, more than 10,000 students from across the country will gear up to code applications for a whole day at more than 50 hub centres, which are currently holding training sessions for students who wish to brush up their coding skills as they register, a Microsoft statement said.

Sourav Ganguly’s father dead

Former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly’s father Chandidas Ganguly passed away Thursday after suffering a heart attack here. He was 75.

Following the attack, Chandidas Ganguly was taken to a city hospital where doctors declared him dead, his other son Snehashish said.

Chandidas Ganguly, who ran a flourishing printing business, was a former joint secretary, as well as chairman of the Trustee Board of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
