Russia accuses US over UN statement on Syria attack

Russia has accused US diplomats of blocking a UN Security Council condemnation of a bomb attack in the Syrian capital that left at least 59 dead.

Russia’s UN mission said the United States “encourages” militant attacks by blocking the council’s statements on
attacks in Syria. Diplomats said however that Russia had in turn refused to include language criticizing ally President Bashar al-Assad.

The bomb near the offices of Assad’s ruling party in Damascus also badly damaged the Russian embassy. Syrian
activists said at least 59 people were killed.

1. Mix kheema, chanadal, chilli pwd and salt in 2 cups of water and boil it on medium flame with lid closed for 30 mins.

Nation condemns blast; Govt. flayed for failure

A day after the powerful blast at the busy Dilshuknagar on the eastern side of city during rush hour, the nation stood united in condemning the heinous act but the Centre and State governments drew flak for their slackness.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, BJP President Rajnath Singh, Ghulam Nabi Azad besides state leaders visited the spot and consoled the injured undergoing treatment at various hospitals. The bomb blast echoed in the Parliament as well, and it was adjourned with main opposition demanding a reply on the terrorist act.

Botsa defends State over twin blasts

Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana defended the State Government and Police over the criticism that they did not act on an alert issued by the Centre.

Addressing a press conference along with former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir, Botsa said that the information received from the Centre was not actionable and it was only a general alert. He said that the terror attacks have been occurring even as the government was taking adequate security measures.

Maha ATS in Hyderabad to coordinate in blast probe

A Maharashtra ATS team, involved in Pune explosion probe, is in the Andhra Pradesh capital to coordinate with investigators probing the Hyderabad twin blasts, which is suspected to be the handiwork of Indian Mujahideen (IM).

“A seven-member team from our side has gone to Hyderabad.

We are in touch with AP police as well as NIA officials,” a senior Maharashtra Anti-Terror Squad officer said here today.

½ Kg. beef Pasanday (filets)
2 tbs. unripe papaya (grinded)
1 tsp ginger (Adrak) paste
1 tsp garlic (Lehsan) paste
1 tsp. salt (according to taste)
2 tbs. yogurt
1 tsp chili (Lal Mirch) powder OR 1 tbs. chopped green chilies
1 tbs. oil. (Preferably mustard oil)

High alert along India’s border with other countries: BSF DG

The hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference on Wednesday announced to suspend its general strike for three days, saying it will hold consultations with other separatist groups before announcing the future course of action.

Eight killed in Maoist landmine blast in Gaya

Eight persons, including six policemen, lost their lives in a landmine blast triggered by the Maoists near a culvert at Majhaulia village in Bihar”s Gaya District today.

The incident took place at Roshanganj in Sherghati sub-division, on the Bihar-Jharkhand border.

Naidu blames State for twin blast

Condemning the Dilsukhnagar twin blast at Dilsukhnagar, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrabau Naidu blamed the State Government for its failure to take precautions despite receiving an alert from the Centre.

Hyd blast: Rs 6 lakh compensation to those permanently disabled

The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday announced a compensation of Rs 6 lakh each to those who suffered permanent disability in the twin bomb blasts at Dilsukhnagar here, which claimed 16 lives and left over 100 injured.

The state government had already announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 6 lakh each to the kin of those killed in the blasts yesterday.

Rajnath Singh condemns blast, meets injured

BJP president Rajnath Singh condemned the Dilshuknagar blast and said it was the failure of the Central Government and its intelligence machinery.

Conveying his condolences to bereaved family members, Sigh said the Government is the prime accused in the incident. The incident took place as there was no proper information from the Centre. He said that the city has become the terrorists main hub and intelligence failure is the main reason for the blast, he said. The centre is not prepared to take up terrorism as a challenge, he said.

Blasts, attack on nation: Sabitha

State Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy described the Dilsukhnagar bomb blast as an attack on the nation.

Terming the incident as unfortunate, she said, there was no information as to who was responsible for the incident. We have ordered for a CB-CID inquiry and will find out if there was any failure in intelligence. We are cooperating with the Central investigation agencies, she said.

Meanwhile, State in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad has arrived in city. He will visit the blast site and console the injured people undergoing treatment at various hospitals. (INN)

Hyd blasts: AP govt in dock over ‘inaction’ on terror warning

The Andhra Pradesh government has come under fire from Opposition parties for failing to act on intelligence inputs provided by the Centre on possible terror strike, which eventually ended up in twin bomb blasts at Dilsukhnagar here, leaving 16 people dead and 117 injured.

The state government had yesterday said the intensity of the Centre’s warning was “not clear” though an alert was issued before hand.

Hyderabad blasts failure, act against terror: BJP tells Shinde

Terming the Hyderabad blasts a “massive failure” since prior information was available, the BJP Friday slammed the UPA government on its claim that it was committed to fighting terrorism, urging Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to follow it up with action.

“Show that you are committed to fight terrorism. Is the centre’s role only to alert the states or help them stop acts of terror,” Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said in the Lok Sabha after Shinde’s statement.

Bollywood has become better for heroines: Divya Dutta

Actress Divya Dutta feels that with Indian cinema completing 100 years, the industry has got better for the female actors.

“I think it (Bollywood) has got better. This year, my seven films will be releasing and I have very different roles in each one of them,” the 35-year-old said here Thursday at the premiere of “Zila Ghaziabad”.

Government taking terrorism casually: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday slammed the government for taking terrorism “casually”, saying that it did not act despite having intelligence inputs on the Hyderabad blast.

“The government is taking the issue of terrorism very casually. This attitude is not right, they had the information, yet they took it casually,” BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu told reporters outside the Parliament House building.

He accused Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde of changing stands.

Mirwaiz placed under house arrest in Kashmir

Chairman of moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was Thursday placed under house arrest here soon after his arrival from New Delhi.

The Mirwaiz, who was under house arrest in Delhi following hanging of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru on February 9, was allowed to return to the Valley.

He was escorted by a police posse from Srinagar Airport to his Nigeen residence and served with the house arrest order, Hurriyat spokesman said.

Minimum temp increases in Kashmir Valley

Kashmir Valley got slight respite from the cold wave conditions on Friday as the minimum temperature appreciated by a couple of degrees.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 0.5 degrees Celsius as against minus 2.1 degrees Celsius recorded previous night, a MeT official said.

He said Qazigund recorded a minimum temperature of minus 1.0 degrees Celsius, up by 1.6 degrees as compared to yesterday.

Gulmarg, the skiing resort in north Kashmir, was the coldest place in the Valley where mercury settled at minus 8.6 degrees Celsius, up by 1.4 degrees.

Australia condemns Hyderabad bombings

Pledging support for India’s fight against terrorism, Australia Friday condemned the twin blasts that rocked Hyderabad killing 16 people.

Australia’s Foreign Minister Bob Carr said he would be writing to his Indian counterpart Salman Khurshid “to express his support for India’s efforts to prevent terrorist attacks”.

“The government and people of Australia express their condolences and sympathy for victims of the bomb attacks in Hyderabad, India, on February 21,” a statement by the country’s foreign affairs ministry said.
