Parents held for forcing daughter to have sex with creditor

A couple allegedly forced their teenage daughter to have sex with a person as repayment of a loan of Rs 50,000 they had availed, police said today.

Three people, including the 16-year-old girl’s parents, have been booked by the police after the incident came to
light on a complaint by the school administration to a local NGO which took the girl’s case to the police.

The father of the class VII student had taken a loan of Rs 50,000 some time ago, police said.

Youth held for sending fake mail on Hyderabad blasts

A 23-year-old engineering student was arrested today from Gujarat for allegedly sending a fake e-mail in the name of his former friend and her kin to some electronic media houses in the state claiming responsibility for the twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad.

“The youth, Shivam Vyas, was arrested tonight for allegedly sending a fake e-mail in the name of some persons with whom he had to settle personal scores,” Kheda SP Makarand Chauhan told PTI.

Road blockage in March: TJAC

Telangana Joint Action Committee’s proposed ‘Road Blockage’ will be held in the third week of March. In a meeting of Telangana JAC it has been unanimously agreed. The road blockade which was scheduled to be held on March 2 has been postponed following blasts in the city.

Committee chairman Prof. M Kodandaram told this and said that Chalo Assembly programme will be organized after announcement of Assembly session schedule.

Human right activists express worries over harassment of Muslim youth in the name of investigations

With the fear of implicating Muslim youth in blasts recently occurred in Hyderabad, the national level human rights activists are keeping eye on the activities of Hyderabad city police.

On Sunday evening when the series of arrest of Muslim youth began, national level human right activists started seeking information regarding the arrests.

Three separate teams are expected to arrive at Hyderabad to seek information regarding arrests and harassment of Muslim youth on the pretext of investigating Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts.

Bhandara rape case: Village shuts down as police remains clueless

Lakhni village and surrounding areas in Maharashtra’s Bhandara district observed a spontaneous shutdown on Sunday to protest the kidnapping, gang-rape and killing of three minor sisters earlier this month, officials said.

An all-party procession was also taken out in the village with participants carrying placards and banners demanding the arrest of the perpetrators of the heinous crime, who are still untraced 10 days after the incident shocked the nation.

Injured include student of Islamia college, warden dead

Rajita eldest daughter of a Bidiworker of Nizamabad Anjaiah is also among the injured in Dilsukhnagar blasts. She is the student of MBA final year. On the evening of February 21, Rajita had gone to Dilsukhnagar along with her hostel warden Swapna to purchase some books, where she lost her leg in the blast and the blast claimed her warden’s life.

Security stepped up at India Gate

Security was today stepped in and around India Gate, the war memorial which attracts thousands on Sundays, with police restricting entry into the area.

The move comes three days after twin blasts rocked Hyderabad killing 16 people and leaving 117 injured rpt injured.

Woman shot dead at bus terminus in Delhi, assailants held

A 25-year-old woman died after being shot thrice by two bike-borne youths here Sunday night, police said. Both the attackers have been arrested.

According to a police official, the woman, identified as Pooja, resident of Bhajanpura in east Delhi, was standing near the Sarai Kale Khan inter-state bus terminal in south Delhi when she was shot. She was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where she died of her bullet injuries.

The two youths were apprehended by the people at the spot and handed over to police. They are said to be residents of Abu Fazal Enclave in Jamia Nagar.

Centre’s Lokpal Bill not acceptable in present form: AAP

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said that the Lokpal Bill to be introduced by the Centre in the ongoing Budget session would not be acceptable to them in the present form.

“The Jan Lokpal Bill, which will be introduced by the Central government in the Parliament during the budget session, will not be accepted by the party”, AAP national executive member Manish Sisodia said.

He was talking to reporters after holding AAP’s first conclave for Gujarat and announcing formation of the State Executive Committee.

Hyderabad blasts could be a reaction to Kasab, Afzal executions: Shinde

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Sunday said the culprits involved in the Hyderabad blast, which killed 16 persons and left several injured, would be booked soon.

“We have got some materials there (at the blast site) and tests are being done in the forensic laboratory. Soon we will get the results and the culprits will be booked soon,” Shinde told newspersons here.

UAE, Kenya to cooperate on livestock

The UAE and Kenya have held discussions on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in livestock development.

UAE Minister of Environment and Water Rashid Ahmad bin Fahad met Kenyan Minister of Livestock Development Mohammed Abdi Kuti in Nairobi.

The two officials also discussed safety of foodstuff and meat products imported to the UAE.

UAE, US hold talks

6 more floating outposts for India-Bangladesh border

Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who Sunday reviewed coastal security of West Bengal said the BSF would get six new floating border outposts (BOPs) for enhanced surveillance of the riverine India-Bangladesh border in the state.

“I have been visiting India’s borders with the neighbouring countries and today I reviewed the coastal security here. We will be giving six new BOPs to the BSF in addition to the existing three,” Shinde told the media here.

Cut power use if you can’t afford high bill: Sheila Dikshit

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Sunday urged people to reduce their electricity consumption if they cannot afford high power bills.

“If any family feels that electricity bill is out of their income (limit) and can’t bear it, then use one bulb instead of two. In place of two fans or coolers use one,” Dikshit said here at a political rally.

The chief minister also said consumers should not expect low power bills if their usage was high.

“If you use electricity for 24 hours, you will not pay the bill only for five hours,” she said.

Woman shot dead at bus terminus in Delhi

A 25-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by a “drunk” man in a busy area in south Delhi on Sunday night when she objected to his misbehaviour, an incident that again raised questions on women’s security in the national capital less than three months after the brutal gangrape case.

Police said the incident took place when the victim identified as Pooja was with her husband Mohan Prasad on the Ring Road in Sarai Kale Khan close to the busy Inter State Bus Terminal and near Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.

The victim was a resident of Bhajanpura in Outer Delhi.

Hyderabad blasts: Delhi Police hunt for IM operative Raju Bhai

Delhi Police Sunday launched an intensive search for Raju Bhai, an alleged Indian Mujahideen operative linked to the Hyderabad blasts which killed 16 people and injured over 115.

“We have launched a search to trace Raju Bhai, who can provide vital leads in the Hyderabad blasts case,” a senior official of Delhi Police’s Special Cell told IANS.

Raju Bhai, in his early 30s, has been on the radar of the special cell since his name figured in the August 2012 Pune serial blasts probe.
