Wife ends life over husband’s harassment
(Siasat News): A woman who was constantly harassed by her husband as he suspected her fidelity, ended her life.

This incident occurred in Narsingi police station limits where Mangala, 40, put kerosene on her body and set it ablaze. However, she died during the treatment in a hospital last night.

It was disclosed that Mohan, husband of the deceased used to suspect her fidelity and used to beat her severely. He alleged that she was having illicit relations with her neighbour.

Put behind ‘unfortunate’ 1962 war, China to India

China wants India to put behind the 1962 war as an “unfortunate” thing of the past and that the two countries should strengthen their military ties including formalising a border management pact under which their troops will not fire at each other.

The Chinese assessment was conveyed to the Indian Defence ministry team which visited Beijing on January 14 and 15 for the third round of the Annual Defence Dialogue between the two countries.

President to inaugurate Surajkund International Crafts Mela today

Surajkund International Crafts Mela, a 15-day annual cultural extravaganza showcasing the country’s rich handicrafts, cuisine and culture, started on Friday on a vibrant note. President Pranab Mukherjee will formally inaugurate the 27th edition of the spectacular event on Saturday.

Violence erupts in Cairo as protesters target Mursi palace

Protesters denouncing Egypt’s Islamist president hurled stones and firebombs through the gates of his palace gates on Friday, clashing with security forces who fired tear gas and water cannons, as more than a week of political violence came to Mohammed Mursi’s symbolic doorstep for the first time.

The march on the palace in an upscale district of the capital was part of a wave of demonstrations in cities around the country called by opposition politicians, trying to wrest concessions from Mursi after around 60 people were killed in protests, clashes and riots.

I.T. companies to get uninterrupted power supply

Master plan of HMDA approved

Govt. has approved the Master Plan prepared by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority. It has issued G.O. No. 33 on 24th January. Residential Townships will be approved as per this plan in future. In this connection, 4000 objections were resolved.

According to this, Master Plan of 35 Mandals would be covered in 4 districts. These districts are Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda and Mahboobnagar.

John Kerry sworn in as US Secretary of State

John Kerry, the veteran American politician and 2004 presidential candidate, has been sworn in as the US secretary of state, replacing Hillary Clinton.

“I was very honoured to be sworn in and very anxious to get to work,” Kerry told media with his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, by his side, after being sworn in by the Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan.

“So I will be reporting Monday morning at 9 o’clock,” he told the awaiting media at the Capitol yesterday.

Tewari avoids commenting on controversy over Rushdie”s Kolkata visit

Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari on Friday refused to comment on the ongoing controversy surrounding author Salman Rushdie”s proposed visit to Kolkata, saying it would be far more appropriate that the West Bengal Government responds on it.

“I think if Mr. Salman Rushdie has an issue with the Chief Minister of West Bengal or the Government of West Bengal, it would be far more appropriate that the Government of West Bengal responds because it is an issue between the two of them. We have really nothing to say on that matter,” he told the media here.

Aamir takes Kiran, son along for ‘Peekay’ shoot

Bollywood star Aamir Khan Friday began shooting for his new film “Peekay” in Rajasthan and the actor made it a point to take his wife Kiran and son Azad along with him.

Aamir has a 45-day shooting schedule lined up in Rajasthan and he couldn’t afford to spend that long a time apart from his family. So he decided to take them along with him, said a source.

Even while Aamir was busy shooting for “Dhoom 3” in Chicago, he made it a point to take Kiran and Azad with him. He had set up a complete home for three months there as he didn’t want to be away from them.

22 killed in blast near mosque in northwest Pakistan

A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a Shia mosque in Pakistan’s restive northwest today, killing 22 people and injuring more than 35 others, police said.

The attacker detonated his explosive vest in a narrow alley as worshippers were leaving the imambargah at Pat Bazar in Hangu town of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. He struck shortly after Friday prayers had ended, witnesses said.

Hangu district police chief Mian Mohammad Saeed confirmed the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber. He had earlier said that a bomb had been planted near the mosque.

Woman allegedly raped at knifepoint in Beed district

A 30-year-old married housewife was allegedly raped by her close relative at Gavhanthadi village of Majalgaon tehsil, Majalgaon rural police said. On 25 January, the victim was gone to answer nature’s call near her house at 9.30 pm. While returning, her close relative Bibhishan Jotiram Chaure raped her at knifepoint and threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone, the police said. The victim narrated the incident to her family members who informed the police, which registered a case.

One held in connection with gangrape of teenage tribal girl

A 15-year-old tribal girl was allegedly gangraped by a gang of four youth in Thane district’s Wada taluka on Sunday night, a report to the district headquarters said today. Police said that Ravindra Mukne, one of the accused in the case, has been arrested by the police and three others who have been detained, are being interrogated by the Wada police. The victim, who has been shifted from the Wada rural hospital to the Thane district civil hospital, is the daughter of an adivasi brick kiln worker in Kharivali village at Wada taluka.
