MLA’S gunman arrested for shooting bathing woman

A gunman of Congress MLA Kottapalli Subbarayudu was arrested by the police, for filming secretly a woman taking bath in the guesthouse of APTransco on Monday.

According to the information, the woman guest observed that the gunman Siva Kumar was secretly watching her while taking bath and was shooting it with his mobile phone.

Police have taken the gunman into custody on a complaint from the woman and her husband.

No BJP nominee against Swamy Goud: Kishen Reddy

Two buried alive in wall collapse in city,one rescued

Two Palamur laborers were buried alive and another escaped from jaws of death miraculously when the compound wall of a dilapidated building crashed on them in P&T Colony of Dilshuknagar here this morning.

The mishap took place while the labourers were digging earth for construction of a cellar beside the old building. While the three laborers were on the job, a wall of the adjoining building suddenly collapsed trapping the trio.

ED slaps Rs 98.5 cr notice on Rajasthan Royals

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has slapped a penalty notice of approximately Rs 100 crore against IPL team Rajasthan Royals for allegedly violating forex laws in its business operations.

The agency, which issued the penalty notice after a two years of investigations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), has sent out three separate notices to the IPL franchise totalling to Rs 98.5 crore plus some other similar notices earlier, sources said.

SC decides to examine the definition of juvenile in JJ Act

The Supreme Court today decided to examine the constitutional validity of the provision giving the definition of juvenile in the Juvenile Justice Act which treats a person as a minor till he attains the age of 18 years.

The issue assumes significance in the wake of the brutal gangrape and assault of a 23-year-old in Delhi on December 16 in a moving bus that shook the conscience of the nation. The victim died in a Singapore hospital on December 29. One of the six accused in the case is a juvenile.

SC slams Centre, sets Feb 20 deadline to notify Cauvery Award

Ticking off the Centre for “flouting the law” for the last five years, the Supreme Court today set a February 20 deadline to notify Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal award, saying it has no discretion or choice but to do so.

Mincing no words in its observations against the Centre for sitting on the award, the apex court said that the government is bound by the Act under which the Tribunal was set up in 1990 and directed it to notify the award as expeditiously as possible but not later than February 20.

Security guard held for filming woman having bath

A gunman of Narasapur MLA in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh was today taken into custody after he allegedly filmed a woman on his cell phone while she was taking bath, police said.

Shivakumar, the security guard of Narasapur MLA Kothapalli Subbarayadu, was picked up by police after he allegedly filmed a woman through his cell phone camera while she was bathing at a guest house in Narsapur town, they said.

Following a complaint, Narasapur police booked a case against Shivakumar under relevant sections of IPC.

4 injured, one missing as avalanche hits

Four persons were injured as avalanche hit mountainous belt of Banihal in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir Monday.

Ten persons, including four women, were trapped in the avalanche triggered in Mahoo-Mangit mountainous belt of the region, said Anil Magotra, Superintendent of Police Ramban.

An operation was launched by security forces with the help of civilians, and nine of them were rescued.

One person, Ali Mohammad, was missing, the SP said adding that operation to trace him was on.

Centre will never bifurcate AP, reiterates Lagapati

Vijayawada MP Ladapati Rajagopal on Monday reiterated that the Centre would never divide Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan here, Rajagopal said that a few leaders were making speculative statements about Centre conceding the demand for formation of Telangana. He said the possibilities of division of Andhra Pradesh were remote. He said that no serious discussions were going on at the Centre over Telangana issue and some leaders have been making statements only to gain mileage from media. “They are trying to create Telangana State through statements in media,” he said.
