American jailed for sex with neighbour’s mare

An American man caught having sex with his neighbour’s mare has been sentenced to jail on charges of public lewdness and criminal trespass.

Andrew Mendoza from Wharton county, Texas, confessed to police he “messed” with his neighbour’s mare after he was stood up by his girlfriend, The Sun reported.

The 29-year-old man, however, said he was only trying to make it pregnant with a “horse-man baby”.

“I was at my house waiting for my girlfriend to call. I told myself that if she didn’t call me, I was going next door and mess with the neighbour’s horse,” he said.

Woman finds blood-covered needle inside bread

A woman in Britain opened a loaf of bread to make a sandwich for her 10-year-old child, but discovered inside it a blood-covered needle used by a heroin-taking man.

The woman bought the bread in Pendleton, Greater Manchester. When she noticed the syringe, she handed it in to police, the Daily Mail reported.

Police used DNA tracing to track down 61-year-old David Rodgers of Salford, Greater Manchester, the Manchester Magistrates’ Court heard.

Delhi gang-rape trial begins, father demands death penalty for accused

A fast-track court Tuesday began the trial against the five accused in the Delhi gang-rape case, around 50 days after the 23-year-old woman’s brutal rape, as the father demanded death penalty for the five men and a juvenile accused.

“All the six accused should be hanged,” the father said at a press conference here, stressing that he would pursue the case till the end.

US can kill Americans linked to Al Qaeda, says memo

A confidential memo obtained by media and published Tuesday spells out the US government’s legal justification for killing US citizens linked to Al Qaeda.

The memo offers a rare look at one of the most secretive policies of President Barack Obama’s administration.

“The president has authority to respond to the imminent threat posed by Al Qaeda and its associated forces, arising from his constitutional responsibility to protect the country,” as well as the right to national self-defence and congressional authorisation for military force against Al Qaeda, the 16-page document reads.

Forensic experts Tuesday recorded the voice of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in a court, which also extended his judicial custody till Feb 19 in a hate speech case.

Another court dismissed his bail plea in another hate speech case while he got bail in a seven-year-old case of manhandling an official.

Experts of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory recorded the legislator’s voice as he has reportedly claimed during the interrogation that the voice in the video footage of his speech is not his.

HC asks Guj govt’s efforts on backwardness of minorities

The Gujarat High Court today asked the state government whether it had taken steps in the past 20 years to ascertain social and educational backwardness of Muslims and other minorities of the state.

People protest after police recover mutilated body of a minor girl in Bhopal

Locals took to streets in Bhopal on Tuesday after the local police recovered a mutilated body of an eight-year-old girl near the residence of the state Home Minister Uma Shankar Gupta.

The girl had gone missing on Sunday evening, after she went to the Bhopal fest, and her parents had lodged a missing complaint with the police.

Raju, a relative of the deceased minor girl, said the police buried the body without informing the family.

India crash out of ICC Women’s World Cup

India were tonight knocked out of the ICC Women’s World Cup after suffering an upset 138-run drubbing at the hands of Sri Lanka in a crucial Group A encounter here.

Chasing a challenging total of 283, the hosts put up a pathetic show to be bowled out for 144 in 42.2 overs at the Brabourne Stadium.

Three held for fabricating documents

On Monday, the Commissioner’s Task Force of East Zone raided “Global Overseas Educational Consultancy” at Himayath Nagar and nabbed three persons for doing illegal Visa processing work by preparing fake documents which are required to be produced by the visa applicants in support of their applications at the time of interview and to procure VISA to U.S.A, U.K. and Canada.

The accused were identified as Gengu Sandeep, Sandadi Srinivas Reddy and Akula Srinivas. The trio and the seized documents were handed over to the Narayanguda PS.

Doctor’s house looted

Robbers struck at the house of a doctor in Kavi Nagar area of the district and decamped with cash and valuables, police said today.

The burglars entered the house of Mukesh Tyagi, a dentist, through the window when the family had gone to Delhi to attend a marriage last night.

On returning home this morning, they found their house burgled and informed the matter to police, they said.

In its complain before police, the family claimed Rs 65,000 cash, besides some jewellery, was found missing from
their home, they said.

Youth shot over argument at engagement party

A youth was shot dead in the Loni area here following an argument at an engagement function, police said today.

Rajat (29) was shot dead by a group of men outside his house in Sangam Vihar Colony here last night, police said.

The deceased had attended his friend’s engagement party where he got into an argument with some guests at the
function, they said.

The argument heated up but other guests settled the matter, they said.

However, some of them later went to Rajat’s house, beat him up and then shot him, they said, adding, he died on the spot.

A Justice Department document has said it is legal for the government to kill US citizens abroad if it believes they are senior al-Qaeda leaders continually engaged in operations aimed at killing Americans.

The confidential memo, first reported yesterday by NBC News, provides a legal rationale behind the Obama
administration’s use of drone strikes against al-Qaeda suspects.

The 16-page document says that delaying action against individuals continually planning to kill Americans would
create an unacceptably high risk.

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh today appealed to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to make public the viability reports of the proposed Narmada-Kshipra river linking project.

A day after their decision to disband the Kashmir’s all-girls rock-band following the fatwa (decree) from the Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, a member of the band on Tuesday said that though they are feeling bad but will not sing in future.

“We have mutually agreed to call it quits because of the people of Kashmir and our Grand Mufti sahib. He is Islamic scholar and he might be right suggesting us not to sing, we respect him,” said one of the three band members.

East-West Corridor in Assam likely by December 2014

The 670-km East-West Corridor in Assam is expected to be completed by December 2014, Union Transport Minister C P Joshi said today. despite challenges of law and order as well as weather conditions, said So far 431 km of the corridor in Nagaon-Daboka-Lanka-Udali section has completed, while another 63 km length is likely to be ready by June this year, he told reporters here.

Work at Jalukbari junction near Gauhati University is likely to be completed by November this year and the
Brahmaputra bridge near it by December next year, he said.

Finance Ministry today relaxed the norms for depositing funds in the bank accounts of beneficiaries under the Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT) scheme.

In the case of schemes covered under DBT, where the fund flow is directly from the Central Government to the
beneficiaries’, the intimation from the bank or National Payments Corporation of India (Aadhaar Payment Bridge System) regarding deposit of funds in the beneficiaries’ bank accounts may be treated as a Utilisation Certificate,” a Finance Ministry circular said.

BPO-employee, associates arrested for killing wife

An ex-BPO employee along with his two associates were arrested for allegedly murdering his wife,police said here today.

The woman’s husband and the other accused, who killed the her on Sunday night, had cooked up a story before the police that two robbers had strangled her.

However, the statement of the employee’s three-year-old son who was in the car with his six-year-old brother of not seeing anybody fight in the car led the police to doubt the accused’s claims.

Pak woman stripped at panchayat’s order

A woman was allegedly stripped naked on the orders of a panchayat in Pakistan’s Punjab province to settle a dispute over an extra-marital affair.

According to the victim Kalsoom Mai, the incident occurred last week in Muzaffarghar district, 400-km from
Lahore.
Kalsoom, a resident of Qasba Gujrat, told police her relative Mohammad Bilal and others had tortured and stripped
her in the presence of local residents.

Kalsoom’s husband Muhammad Nawaz was allegedly having an affair with Bilal’s wife.

Recipe: Coconut Custard

Ingredients

¾ cup Sugar
½ cup All-Purpose Flour (Maida)
Salt (to taste)
3 cups Milk
3 Egg Yolks
2 tbsp Butter
1 tsp Vanilla Essence
½ cup Coconut (grated)
2 tbsp Coconut Flakes (for decorating)

How to make Coconut Custard

Take sugar, flour, salt and milk in a saucepan.
Cook it on low a flame for 20 minutes, or until it thickens. Stir the mix continuously.
Mix in egg yolk and cook it for another 5 minutes.
Take the saucepan off the flame.
Add butter, vanilla essence and grated coconut.
Transfer the mixture to serving bowls and refrigerate until it is set.

Six tourists gang-raped by masked robbers in Mexico

Six Spanish women tourists have been raped in the famous Mexican tourist resort of Acapulco by an armed gang who broke into their rented beach bungalow as they slept, a media report said here.

Five masked men raped the women after tying up their partners with telephone cords and the elastic from their bikinis, the Daily Mail reported.

The rapists, however, spared a Mexican woman who was staying with the group.

Acapulco Mayor Luis Walton has condemned the crime and promised to catch the attackers.
