Medical & Cancer camp to be held on Jan. 6

A meeting of Minorities Development Forum was held at Siasat office located at Abids, in which it has been decided to conduct medical camp on Sunday, January 6, from 9 to 4 pm, at Sana Garden Function Hall opposite Sardar Mahal, Charminar. Earlier the medical and cancer camp was scheduled on November 18, at Sana Garden Function Hall but was postponed due to tension prevailed at the foot of Charminar.

Mr. Zahed Ali Khan editor Siasat, Mr. Zaheeruddin Ali Khan managing editor Siasat, besides doctors of American Oncology Institute will attend the camp as chief guests.

Harish Rao appeals to youth not to commit suicide

TRS MLA Harish Rao has appealed the youth not to commit suicide for achieving Telangana. He expressed grief over the suicide incident occurred in Medak in which, dejected over the delay in Telangana formation, one C Naresh committed suicide.

Harish Rao attended Naresh’s last rites and advised the youth of Telangana to avoid cowardly moves. He asserted that Telangana solution is not possible through suicide but youth should play their role in Telangana movement by being alive.

A Young girl from Sirpur town is suffering from an incurable disease

Seven year old Miss Ayesha, daughter of Mr. Khan Baber and Ms. Sameena Begum is suffering from an incurable disease. She is not able to talk right from her birth. Her father told that his wife feeds this handicapped girl and takes care of her. She was treated by many doctors but the ailment could not be cured.

Minority Finance Corporation has extended the last date for online submission of pre & post matric scholarships to January 15. Managing Director Minority Finance Corporation Mr. M A Waheed told that the last date of submission of online forms which was December 31 has expired however in view of several complaints regarding difficulties in submission of forms by the minority students it has been further extended to 15 days.

Clashes near Syrian capital, Aleppo airport closed

Syrian troops and rebels fought Tuesday in suburbs of Damascus as well as near Aleppo’s airport, stopping all flights in and out of the northern city, activists and state media said.

The intense fighting underlined the rebels’ tenacity in the capital and around Aleppo, Syria’s largest city, but also the determination of the Bashar Assad regime to carry on fighting. Activists say more than 45,000 people have been killed in the 22-month civil war.

Delhi gang-rape: CM to hold peace march today

Amidst huge uproar over the shocking gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will be organising a peace rally in the national capital on Wednesday.

The state’s Chief Minister, who has faced intense criticism for failing to improve the security situation across Delhi, will lead the march with some other women organisations.

The march will commence from Pragati Maidan and conclude at Rajghat.

The para-medical student was gang-raped and brutally tortured by a group of six men in a moving bus on the night of December 16.

CBSE board exams from March 1

The class X and class XII examinations of CBSE schools will begin from March 1.

The schedule can be accessed from the CBSE website.

The board has advised schools to conduct the school based assessment between March 16 to March 31, 2013.

About 10 lakh students across the country took the CBSE Board Exams last year, with a further rise expected in 2013.

RSS gearing up for regional convention at Indore on Jan 6

Indore: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is gearing up for its annual regional-level convention, which the city will host on January 6.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat will address the gathering, an office-bearer of the organisation said here today adding that about one lakh RSS workers from Ujjain and Indore divisions would gather under ‘Prant Ekatrikaran Karyakaram’ (regional convention programme).

Various organisations, operating under the RSS banner, will provide details of their activities during the meeting, he said.

Task force to look into safety issues of women

Amid strong demands for tougher laws to deal with crimes against women, a 13-member special task force headed by Union Home Secretary was constituted on Tuesday to look into safety issues of women in the national capital on a fortnightly basis.

The task force will review the functioning of the Delhi Police on a regular basis. It will also continuously review action taken by the police and the Delhi government regarding safety issues of women, a Home Ministry announcement said.

Injured Sharapova quits Brisbane International

Tennis World No.2 player Maria Sharapova Tuesday pulled out of the Brisbane International with a collarbone injury, depriving her of valuable competition time ahead of the Australian Open.

Sharapova, who was due to play Australia`s Jarmila Gajdosova in the second round, said the inflammation had left her unable to serve properly.

“I started practising once I got here but couldn`t serve much… actually at all until yesterday (Monday),” Sharapova said on the tournament website.

Minor girl sexually assaulted in Pune

A six-year-old girl was raped on Tuesday allegedly by a youth in suburban Hadapsar area here.

The minor was found lying at an open ground after the sexual assault this morning, police said.

Later, an 18-year-old youth was arrested by the police on the basis of a CCTV footage of the area.

The victim, who stayed with her mother in a slum colony, had left her house in the morning, police said adding, following the incident, she was admitted to a government hospital and was reported to be out of danger.

Three students drown in water tank in AP

Three students staying at a hostel at Turkal Khanapur in Medak district drowned in a water tank on Tuesday, police said.

The students had gone out to answer nature’s call outside as toilets in the hostel were not functioning. While they were passing by Batkamma tank, water bottle of a student, identified as Venkatesh, a 8th class student, fell in the tank. While he was trying to look for it, he fell in the tank and drowned, police said.

20-yr-old girl stalked and harassed by man commits suicide

A 20-year-old girl committed suicide after being allegedly stalked and harassed by a man, police said today. One Chandrakant Borkar (30) had allegedly been harassing the girl by passing comments on her and stalking her for the last two years, police said. He also used to make phone calls to her, police said adding the girl had informed her father sometime ago about the alleged harassment. Disturbed by harassment by the man, the girl hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her home in Bhagirathwadi area of the city last night, police said.

A former corporator was brutally murdered here on Monday morningl Rama Krishna Reddy the former corporator was murdered when he was walking in the National Park in the city in the morning. It is learnt that some unidentified persons attacked him with sickles. He died instantaneously.

Assembly Budget Session From March 11: Anam

Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has said the Assembly Budget Session will begin from March 11.

Speaking to the media at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Anam said the Legislative Assembly Speaker and Legislative Council Chairman gave tentative dates for conduct of the budget session. Stating that the process of 2013-14 budget will be completed from March 11 to 15, he said Vote on Account Budget will be introduced for the first three months of the financial year and the full-fledged budget will be adopted by May 15.
