Teachers’ recruitment case: Accused gets bail for daughter’s wedding

The Delhi High Court Wednesday granted five weeks’ bail to Rekha Sharma, convicted along with former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala in a teacher-recruitment scam, in view of her dughter’s marriage Feb 6.

Rekha Sharma, then senior lecturer, District Institute of Education and Training, was sentenced to four years of jail on Jan 22. She had moved the high court seeking bail to solemnize the marriage of her daughter.

Information on thousands of British couples revealed that in the vast majority – 92.5 percent – the man was taller, the Daily Mail reported.

Women had the edge in only 4 percent of the couples investigated and couples of equal height were even rarer, making up the remaining 3.5 percent.

Sex racket busted in Pune; 12 girls rescued

A high profile inter-state sex racket was busted by city crime branch in which twelve girls including nine from other countries, were rescued and five alleged procurers arrested, police said today.

The operation was carried out in an apartment in the plush Koregaon park area on Monday night on a tip-off by a local municipal corporator and with the help of a decoy customer, said Bhanupratap Barge, Inspector, social security cell of Pune police crime branch.

Akbar Owaisi sent to Nizamabad police custody for Two Days

A court in Andhra Pradesh’s Nizamabad district Wednesday sent MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi to police custody for two days in another case related to his hate speech.

The court allowed police to question the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator for two days on Feb 1 and 2.

Owaisi is currently lodged in a jail in Adilabad district in the hate speech case.

The court in Nizamabad Jan 24 had sent him to judicial custody till Feb 7 for delivering a hate speech in the town Dec 8.

Nizamabad is some 175 km and Adilabad and about 300 km from Hyderabad.

Australia to announce squad for India tour tomorrow

Australia will announce their cricket squad for next month’s much-anticipated Test tour of India here tomorrow.

Reality show contestant and dancer Dharmesh, who makes his acting debut with “ABCD: AnyBody Can Dance”, says he had a habit of imitating a lot of actors in his bathroom and that is something that helped him face the camera.

“I wasn’t exactly interested in acting. I liked to do something unique, like following Paresh Rawal or copying Salman (Khan) bhai’s unique dance style and how he moves, his dialogue delivery. College girls eve-teased by students

Girls of a college were allegedly teased and threatened by boys of the same institution here, police said today.

Some boys of DAV College entered into the LLB class room and teased the girl students when they were alone and threatened them here yesterday,” police said.

Creating of a separate state of Telangana is in process: Shinde

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Wednesday said the creation of a separate state of Telangana was a work in process and progress.

“I have said (on Telangana) that it is in the process,” he told media here.

He had earlier said that the contentious Telangana statehood demand would be delayed further, as the government needed more time to arrive at a final decision.

Shinde had set a one-month deadline for a decision in December when he had invited two representatives from each party to know their views afresh on the Telangana issue in New Delhi.

Civic administration in the UAE is cracking down on the sellers and users of paan, confiscating 400 kgs of the banned substance from shops in downtown Al Ain.

Paan, which is mainly consumed by expatriates from the sub-continent, poses serious public health risks besides being an environment pollutant.

Brazil’s Congress has been asked to enact a new federal bill in an attempt to strengthen safety regulations ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The move comes after a blaze that killed more than 230 people in a nightclub and prompted a national debate about existing legislation.

According to the BBC, the new bill would cover the licensing of clubs and mass events, as well as fire prevention measures.

The hazards of breathing outdoor air in some Chinese cities have been well-documented. Now a University at Buffalo study has confirmed that breathing indoor air also carries significant cancer risks, especially for Chinese women.

The UB study, published online this month, in the journal Cancer Causes & Control, found that indoor air pollution that generates fine particulate matter is a key contributor to the high rates of lung cancer among Chinese women, despite the fact that few of them smoke.

Kamal Haasan threatens to move overseas

Veteran actor Kamal Haasan says that if the ban on his controversial film “Vishwaroopam” is not lifted, he might have to look out for a “secular state” and that can be out of the country.

Man strangulated wife to death
(Siasat News): A man allegedly strangulated his wife to death in Medchal. According to police, Deepika, 23, was the wife of one Sudarshan, resident of Medchal.

She died in suspicious circumstances. As per the details, Sudarshan was harassing her for more dowry and used to torture her to get his demand met.

Deepika could not tolerate the harassment and ended her life whereas it is alleged that she was killed by her husband.

Police has registered a case and further investigations are on.
