No chance for Narendra Modi to become PM: Congress

All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Captain Praveen Davar on Monday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had no chance of becoming the next Prime Minister.

“The BJP-led alliance will not come to power again in the Center, and therefore there is no chance for Modi to become the Prime Minister,” Davar said, talking to reporters here.

Bus Conductor Killed By Unknown Assailants

A day-light murder took place in the city at Shankar nagar, under the limits of Amberpet police station, on Monday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Upendra chary, who was working as a conductor in the Barkatpura depot. When chary was walking on the road, he was severely attacked by unknown persons. It is reported that the conductor died on the spot, when he was beaten up with sticks.

Kotla to hold meeting on AP’s pending railway projects

Union Minister of State for Railways Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy on Monday admitted of injustice to the railway projects of Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to reporters at Gandhi Bhavan after meeting Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana, the union minister said that several railway projects in the State have been delayed for various factors. However, he said he would take immediate steps to hasten the completion of projects. He also informed that he would soon convene a meeting with the elected representatives of State to discuss the pending railway projects of the State.

Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi has said the Muslims will never give up even an inch of the land of the demolished Babri Masjid at Ayodhya.

The president of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) said Muslims were betrayed at every step in the Babri Masjid case and felt that justice should be done to ensure peace and law and order in the country.

Owaisi was addressing a mammoth public meeting organised by the United Muslim Action Committee at MIM headquarters Darussalam here Sunday night, ahead of the 20th anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid on Dec 6, 1992.

SCR to run four Special Trains between Nanded and Pune

In order to clear extra rush of passengers, the South Central Railway will run Special trains between Nanded and Pune.

As per the schedule, the Train No. 07629 Nanded-Pune Special train will depart Nanded at 9.20 pm on December 6th and 13th (Thursdays) and arrive Pune at 11.05 am, on the next day. In the return direction, Train No. 07630 Pune -Nanded Special train will depart Pune at 10.00 pm on December 7th and 14th (Fridays) and arrive Nanded at 10.20 am on the next day.

TRS demands hike in cosmetic charges of hostel students

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Monday demanded that the State Government increase the cosmetic charges of students living in government hostels.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan here, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that the cosmetic charges should be increased from present Rs 50 to Rs 200 per students. He said poor students belonging to SC, ST, BC and minorities study in hostels and the cosmetic charges being paid to them were too meager. For instance, he said that the students get Rs 12 for haircut. He said this should be increased to at least Rs 25.

The bilateral ties between China and India should not be affected by “noises”, said Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo Monday as he called for further cooperation between the two for common development.

Dai made the remarks as he held talks with India’s National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon in Beijing, reported Xinhua.

‘Strong warning’ to Assad over chemical arms: Clinton

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Monday issued a “strong warning” to the regime of Bashar al-Assad over the potential use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people.

“This is a red line for the United States,” Clinton said after meeting Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg.

“Once again we issue a very strong warning to the Assad regime that their behaviour is reprehensible. Their actions against their own people have been tragic,” she added.

India can diplomatically “do something” in the alleged child abuse case involving an Indian couple in Norway, Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi said today.

Attributing the success of the Tibetan democratic experiment in exile to Indian values and traditions, Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile Lobsang Sangay Monday said that the country “owed its religion to India”.

“Tibet owed its religion to India and that it is owing to the proximity to India physically and spiritually that the Tibetan struggle has conformed to the tenets of ahimsa (non-violence), dialogue and reconciliation,” said Sangay, who took over as political successor to the Dalai Lama.

Ali to be proclaimed king of boxing

Muhammad Ali, former world heavyweight boxing champion and widely considered to be the greatest pugilist of all time, will be named “King of Boxing” at the 50th convention of the World Boxing Council, or WBC.

The convention begins Monday in Mexico’s Caribbean coastal resort of Cancun.

The “crowning” of Ali will be one of the main events at the convention celebrating the 50th year of the WBC, which is headed by Mexican Jose Sulaiman.

South Africa retain No.1 Test position

South Africa retained their status as the top-ranked team in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Test Championship table following their 309-run victory over Australia Monday in the third and final Test in Perth, which gave them a 1-0 series win.

South Africa’s series victory meant that they are the clear leaders at the top of the table, leading second-ranked England by six rating points. Australia are still in third position but have dropped to 114 after conceding three points.

Sehwag ‘never happy’ with Eden food

Dashing Indian batsman Virender Sehwag Sunday gave the thumbs up to Lords, Sidney and Ahmedabad, and the thumbs down to Eden Gardens – in terms of the food served to cricketers.

“I love the food served at The Lords, in Sidney, in (Motera at) Ahmedabad. But I am never happy with food served by CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal-the local cricket association in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens),” said Sehwag.

“A lot of times I have opted for only sandwiches at the Eden IPL (Indian Premier League) is different. There the food is not served by the CAB.”

Will take a call on FDI during vote: Mayawati

Holding her cards close to her chest, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati Monday said that her party does not support FDI in multi-brand retail, and would decide how to vote on the “floor of house” Dec 5.

Dec 5 is also when the matter will be put to vote in both houses of parliament.

Emphasising that FDI in retail would impact small shop owners, farmers and small scale industries, Mayawati appealed to the government not to implement it in haste.
